Avatar f tn yasmin works well for me and i also have pcos. never had breakthrough bleeding or side affects.
Dinosaur ll usually get my period 3-4 days later and then I can start all over again. The breakthrough bleeding almost always happens for me when I've been taking the pill non-stop for a long time. I take Yasmin or Ocella (the generic form of Yasmin). What pill are you on?
484167 tn?1210001396 i am wondering if this is normal and if it will go away after my body gets used to the switch?? i would rather not take yasmin and deal w/ irregular periods then feel pregnant...there is no way i will stay on this yasmin if i am going to feel like i have to eat something all the time...i struggle w/ weight issues as it is!!
Avatar n tn Hello ladies, I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 19. I'll be 33 next month. I've suffered from severe acne, cysts, abnormal periods and major mood swings. I've had 3 laproscopies and I've been on Yasmin for over 8 years. I have to say, of the 5 or 6 different bc pills I've taken, I found Yasmin to be the best. It really curbed my acne a great deal. Also, I had no cysts. On some of the other bc pills, I still developed cystic ovaries.
Avatar n tn t suggest skipping it for 4 months in a row on Yasmin. Your bleeding now because your body is backed up, and when you skip your period (for that long) you increase your chances of having breakthrough bleeding and spotting. Why were you skipping your period? Is it that bad you can't deal with it for a few days out of the month?
473222 tn?1214439873 Reading all of the posts on another part of this forum elated to yasmin and yaz is very scary. My life has been seriously affected by taking yasmin for four years. If I only knew back then what I know now. Please consider the long term effects of taking any birth control pill, not just yasmin or yaz. They primarily work by putting your ovaries to sleep. The pill shuts down your own natural production of hormones and replaces them with lab manufactured hormones.
Avatar f tn You can have breakthrough bleeding while on the pill. Did this happen before you started on any time of birth control pills though? If so, then the problem might be not enough natural lubrication. Have you and your boyfriend ever tried a lubricant to see if that helps?
Avatar f tn However (and I have never had this problem before) I was taking the pill (yasmin) for only a week or so after my last period when I started bleeding again. It had been like a normal period so far and has lasted for nearly two weeks. I have no Idea what's causing this as I usually have regular periods despite the UD.
Avatar f tn I started it last year, and never had a problem with it. No breakthrough bleeding and I get my period on the 6th or 7th inactive pill. My only bad expierence with it was the first month I was on it. I got extreme emotional when I started the inactive pill week, but it got better over the months. and now with taking for a longer period of time, my periods are regular and last about 3 1/2 days and with very little cramping.
864198 tn?1239188205 Why were you on 2 types of birth control pills? Thats not really healthy. I only take Yasmin and Metformin and it works. Now, if my cycles are regular thats another story. I wont know that until I stop my bc pills (which I dont plan too until the end of this year).
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 28 & have been on birth control since I was 16. I'm relatively good at taking the pill around the same time every day & never normally miss one. Up until recently I have always been on the combined pill Cilest, I never had any problems with this Pill up until the last couple of months where I was having breakthrough bleeding so I went to my doctor & she advised me to switch to a different Pill.
Avatar f tn ve heard that it can cause some breakthrough bleeding/spotting, but not bleeding every day! Sheesh, that *****. It's really new, and though it's FDA approved, I was skeptical when I heard about it. I'd go back to your doc... Don't give up, there is probably a pill out there that can make your periods more manageable. Have you tried Depo Provera, or Loestrin? Something that would at least reduce the frequency & heaviness? That might be better than having bleeding every day.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS and I am taking 1500mg of metformin since April 09. In may I started mid cycle spotting but know I have abnormal bleeding every 2 weeks. My cycle is suppose to be 30-33 days but now it is 16-19 days. I went to the doc and she said it was just hormones well it's very weird. I'm not ovulating and now I'm bleeding twice a month. ***** to be me right now. My RE wants me to have a lap to be checked for endo. Have any of you guys experienced this?
Avatar f tn I was still worried so i took 2 Yasmin combination pill on day 5 and 2 Yasmin pills on day 6. I did not take the pill after that. Ever since I have had heart burn and stomach ache, belching and pain between the shoulders. Today, day 13 of my cycle, i am bleeding, infact heavier than day 1 of my periods. The discharge is fresh bright red with mucous. I have never had mid cycle bleeding before. What is causing this?? Its not pregnancy or implantation bleeding, is it??
Avatar f tn I was still worried so i took 2 Yasmin combination pill on day 5 and 2 Yasmin pills on day 6. I did not take the pill after that. I usually have a 30-32 day cycle. On day 13 of my cycle, i started bleeding and continued for 5 days, with last 2 days more of frequent spotting. The discharge was bright red blood and mucus. The bleeding has been heavier compared to my periods.
Avatar f tn I liked it better then Loestrin, since while on Loestrin I had breakthrough bleeding every single day. (So annoying.) But even with Femcon, I had breakthrough during the third week, but I was reading that a lot of women get breakthrough bleeding during the first couple of months.
Avatar f tn Can you have PCOS and not have cysts? The last time I had an ultrasound for that the doctor told me they only saw a normal cyst like during ovulation. My sister was diagnosed 5 or 6 years ago when she was trying to conceive, but I never had a problem conceiving until recently, and all my spotting and bleeding between periods didn't start until after my youngest child was born (she's 11 now). I'm also amazed at the different explanations and suggestions I get from different doctors...

Ever since I have had heart burn and stomach ache, belching and pain between the shoulders. I usually have a 30-32 day cycle. Today, I am day 17 of my cycle and been bleeding for 4 days now. MED HELP Doctors forum opined that it may be due to irregular use of Yasmin in high doses those 2 days.
Avatar n tn got way longer on it- I used to only bleed for 4 days on Aleese, then gradually this increased and due to weight gain and water retention switched to Yasmin...well after a year on that I was bleeding for 8 to 9 days (still bleeding even while taking the 'active' pills) also I started getting cramps and what not and my dr kept saying that should not be happening since you only have a withdrawal bleed...
Avatar m tn I'm on my second week of Junel fe 1/20 and have been bleeding the last few days, and the first week I have problens stayin wet, is this because of the Birth Control
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced breakthrough bleeding at 8 weeks and then stayed pregnant?
Avatar f tn For the first 3 months I had thrush exactly a week before I was due on every month as well as breakthrough bleeding. That went by the 4th month but the breakthrough bleeding still happened. It started slowly going so I thought finally I was getting somewhere but its suddenly increased again. The doctors are now putting me on a new pill called Gedarel which contains 30 mg ethinylestradiol and 150mg desogestrel.
Avatar f tn Breakthrough bleeding also depended on other factors like dose, potency, and activity of the particular progestin in the combined OC as well as the ratio of the estrogen and progestin in the formulation and other factors like missed pills and smoking. So this bleeding that you are having is breakthrough bleeding, but it is important to find out whether it is due to switching the contraceptive pills or due to pregnancy.
