Xyzal for rash

Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal for rash

xyzal

Avatar n tn i went on the TIDE line and read about people who are experiencing the same problem as i am ---some say prednisone did not work for them and they are on xyzal 5mg-please help me find an answer as i am affraid i am not going to get rid of this severe rash(which is like hundreds of tiny blisters)
Avatar f tn I then went to an allergist who put on prednisone, I felt zoned, but this did not help the rash. I took my last dose of prednisone and now the rash is spreading down my neck and worse than ever. I believe the prednisone made it worse. I was on for 14 days and my highest dose was 60mg. Any way I am at my wits end. I am seeing my GP again tomorrow. Any ideas of what it might be?
Avatar n tn I have been on Xyzal for 5-6 years and had to go off, suddenly, for a week due to allergy testing. I have itched and scratched myself until I have bruises on my legs, arms, and feet! It's absolutely horrible!! :( In response to the other person who replied to you, it's typically NOT an issue to stay on 2nd generation antihistamines, long-term. Nor is it a problem to quit them suddenly EXCEPT (apparently) with Xyzal and Zyrtec (both are Cetirizine-based).
Avatar f tn After 8 months of constant hives, lip swelling, eye swelling and finger swelling, i went to an allergist and got prescribed Xyzal. It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed. I was wondering if I could take 2 xyzal a day instead o 1. The only other medication that I am on is ortho cyclin birth control.
Avatar n tn I did not take amoxicillin or anything like that for the EBV. My doctor did give me Xyzal for lightheadedness that I've been having lately and I did notice it made a difference with the hives. I have so many issues going on right now, I don't know what has to do with what. My allergy test is this Thursday and if I have any hives during the appointment, I will make sure to show them to the allergist.
Avatar f tn t already been teste for thyroid issues, it would be a good idea. My allergist put me on 2 xyzal twice a day, which was way to much. I took two doses and was weak, tired and had panic attacks. I also have celiac disease and am trying to figure out if the xyzal is gluten free. I was taking benadryl. I dont do well with any antihistamines. I was taking Benadryl. There is also an injection you can get.
Avatar f tn I also have a slight rash on my fingers. The rash appeared in January 2010 after moving into a new house and I still have it. I have seen three physicians, a dermatologist and an allergist and no one can figure out what I have except that they think I am having an allergic reaction to something. I have had steroid shots, prendisone, and another steroid medication that starts with an "m" but I can't remember the name, Zyrtec, Xyzal and Ranitidine.
Avatar m tn I had xyzal for 8 days and applied the lotion and the rash went away. I must tell you that at this time I was so scared and suffering from anxiety that I also started taking another anti-histamine (Atarax) and Ivemetricin as prescribed by a general physician who thought it was scabies. So for about 8 days I had both Xyzal and Atarax. However the rashes disappeared after about 2 weeks and by this time my 4th generation Elisa test at 45 and 60 days, RNA PCR at 46 days were all negative.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you and I have the same symptoms except that mine started with a strange rash that I have had on and off for a year. Otherwise, mine comes and goes in different areas, but never completely leaves my finger joints, elbows or feet. I have taken the same meds without relief and am now awaiting results from skin biopsy. My labs were normal except for elevated liver enzymes which are probably related to the cholesterol reducing med I take. I will post again after biopsy results.
Avatar n tn I have a really really bad problem with my skin. Whenever I go outside the sun, or the heater, in general wherever it's hot, my skin gets extremely prickly and it has many red bumps all over my body. I've tried many allergy medicines such as HYDROXYZINE HCL, DOXEPIN, FEXOFENADINE, XYZAL, ZYRTEC, but they didn't help the breakout at all. I think I'm not allergic with anything, because I already took the blood test, and everything appeared negatively.
Avatar f tn You can take non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine or Loratadine(Claritin) when the rash appears. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. Also apply calamine lotion and a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash.If the symptoms persist then pls consult an allergist.
Avatar f tn I have been on 4 rounds of different antobiotics, nasal sprays, mucinex dm, xyzal, delsem, robitussin, prednezone and I also take protonix for gerd. Nothing seems to work I am 37 years old and for the most part have been healthy. I had a chest X-ray last May 07. showed nothing then. Should I be worried.
Avatar f tn Another Dermatologist had given zentel, Ivermectol for only one dose. and xyzal daily. Now She is not getting hives than previous days. will she get rid of hives completely?
Avatar f tn I finally figured it out its was only happening the nightd he would have the xyzal....The xyzal made the outside of his lobes and his ears feel like they were on fire!!!
Avatar f tn Im really scared cause i have never in my life had hives until halloween 2008. At first i thought it was just a rash but then it started going all over my body. My ankles, knees, and elbows were really swollen. They are still kind of itchy, burn, and hurt. I went to the doctor he gave me some pills called xyzal. He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful.
Avatar n tn I saw a post at this site for a person who had similar symptoms from knee replacment surgery. I had a titanium hip joint replacement and about 6 or 7 weeks after surgery I started to have itchiness (all over my body) and hives. It started with a slight itch in the late afternoon and became severed after dinner in the early evening. I have seen an allergist and had blood work done and am waiting for the results and a follow up appointment.
Avatar f tn Ask you doctor about the Cymbalta one. I had one but it was only for one month. And there are really good one for Xyzal, Astepro and Omnaris. The others, I don't know. Skmedlin's advice was good.
Avatar n tn Th bank you You may have just answered my question. I've been having this rash for about 2 weeks and all of a sudden day of my menstrual starting it spread all over my back.
Avatar n tn He put me on a medication called methylprednisolone, along with an allergy pill called XYZAL. The medicine defiantly helped what rash there was and the itching, but after finishing the methylprednisolone my body started itching again. I am going to call on monday to see what other options I need to do.
Avatar n tn I took XYZal for 4 days for my Fall allergies. Once I stopped, I developed this maddening itching all over!!!! I went to my dermatologist who prescribed hydroxyzine capsules. The meds help somewhat....but also make me tired so I can only take at night!!! I have been suffering for FIVE weeks. Any idea when I can expect this reaction to end?? Or at least some tips on method of relief? PLEASE!!
Avatar f tn 2 and the Path to Recovery...it has been a nightmare for many. I have been flat on my back for 6 weeks and counting... I have read stories about the same reaction as you - hives and serious allergy like symptoms. Hope you are better now.
