Xyzal compared to zyrtec

Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal compared to zyrtec

xyzal

Avatar n tn I checked my favorite drug site and they are the same. OTC Zyrtec is essentially the same medication. Some people say that Xyzal is a more 'purified" form of the chemical. You can try Zyrtec to see if it works as well. Take care.
Avatar n tn On August 5, I finished the four pills of XYZAL that was given to me for my body itching. Unfortunately, the result is NO RESULT. The medicine had ZERO effect on my body. Now, again based on my doctor recommendation I am using ZYRTEC temporarily. So far, it looks like ZYRTEC has also NO EFFECT on my body. Of course, one can argue that it needs some time to have some some effect on body.... etc. Friday, August 08, 2008, I have an appointment with Dermatologist.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar n tn I have been on Xyzal for 5-6 years and had to go off, suddenly, for a week due to allergy testing. I have itched and scratched myself until I have bruises on my legs, arms, and feet! It's absolutely horrible!! :( In response to the other person who replied to you, it's typically NOT an issue to stay on 2nd generation antihistamines, long-term. Nor is it a problem to quit them suddenly EXCEPT (apparently) with Xyzal and Zyrtec (both are Cetirizine-based).
Avatar m tn ve tried em all, Loratadine, Claritin, XYZal, Benedryl, Zyrtec, etc..... I see an allergist on the 28th, but was wondering if anyone has ever experienced tingling/shaking due to allergy/sneezing.
Avatar m tn HI, Mar 2018 I was fine. Allergy test revealed Cedar, Elm tree allergen. I began allergy shots, for a month, afterwards I began sneezing up a storm. Developed chronic rhinitis in the process. I've also developed montly infections, non stop since Mar 2018. Was on antibiotics for 4 months straight, last year. This year Feb/March been on antibiotics Amox/Clav. Each time, I complete course of antibiotics, I begin sneezing up a storm !!
Avatar m tn She can get some steroid cream if the rashes last for a while (it makes them go away faster) and if she gets itchy, something like Xyzal, Zyrtec or Benadryl works well. The steroid cream and Xyzal are by prescripion...Zyrtec and Benadryl are OTC If she finds she's having a problem with most of the commerical soaps, making her own plant-based, oil soap might be a good option. If she wants more info about that, leave a note on my page and I'll be happy to tell her more. Lots of luck!
Avatar f tn m happy to convey that she is not getting hives but itching is there still.Doctor suggested me to use the same XYZal syrup for 15 more days twice a day.Do we need to take her for allergy test still?
Avatar f tn for 7 months i was on 40 - 50 mg of ultralan DAILY (it seemed to work better than Prednisone), 2 atarax tablets, 3-4 Xyzal (or zyrtec) daily. if i even tried to lessen the dose then my lips, tongue, eyes and throat would swell. the hives lessened but never fully went away. my weight ballooned and i was in a constant stupor and NOT HAPPY. oh noooo. eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication.
Avatar n tn Today the doc decided to start testing me for allergies to try to get to the root of the fluid and swelling in my ears. Your results sound interesting. I have in the past from time to time has what I think are fever blisters around the corners of my mouth. Is there a test for Herpes simplex 1? I may mention this to my ENT next time I go there.
Avatar f tn I decided to switch from Zyrtec to Claritin because my mild asthma symptoms diminished and Claritin packs less of a punch. I started developing mosquito-like bumps on my hands and wrists. My doctor and I ruled-out scapies, bed bugs, posion ivy, fungular folliculitis. I had forgotten to mention that I just recently stopped taking Zyrtec. My doctor thought it was eczema. She prescribed predisone and a topical ointment. That was about 8 days ago.
Avatar f tn Dear community, I've been trying to find a help for a really long time, I would immensely appreciate any help. My problems started more than 2 years ago, while I was in the US for a year (work related) There I had problems with my nose, i couldn't breathe and it was stuffy all the time. I survived with some kind of special nose spray, which helpes me to just stimulate the pain, I was also taking antibiotics, which helped me to get mucus out but the pain always came back.
454221 tn?1259445739 What about dry mouth. Has he increased his liquid intake due to the other side effects? We've never taken Xyzal at our house so I'm not sure of all the side effects. I do know that Zyrtec makes my children raving lunatics and that side effect was not on the bottle.
1528897 tn?1291833568 Allegra also has few side effects. Sometimes you have to try different meds to find one that works well with your metabolism for the best treatment with the fewest side effects. If you haven't tried sinus rinses, they are amazing for allergy control. I started them about 2 1/2 years ago and have only missed about 5 of the twice aday rituals. One was because I was in a power outage. Lastly allergy testing and shots are VERY effective for reducing allergic reactions.
Avatar n tn Double conventional doses of these non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(zyrtec), Loratadine(Claritin), Acrivastine and Fexofenadine may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(benadryl) or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. Application of topical steroids like dermacort is also helpful.
Avatar m tn In the past I have taken Zyrtec, Claritin, and Xyzal....Zyrtec seems to work best for me. You can get both Zyrtec and Claritin over the counter, and both come in a generic form (I take the generic form of Zyrtec). This helped my allergies tremendously, I would recommend taking one daily while your symptoms are in full-force, and then backing off to just whenever it's needed when your symptoms settle down.
Avatar f tn They are still kind of itchy, burn, and hurt. I went to the doctor he gave me some pills called xyzal. He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful. i dont know what it is and its scaring me because I've never been the type of person that has allergic reactions?
Avatar n tn It occurs when the sweat gland ducts get plugged due to dead skin cells or bacteria. The trapped sweat leads to irritation or prickling, itching and to a rash of very small blisters, usually in a localized area of the skin. Symptoms of miliaria include small red rashes, called papules, which may itch or more often cause an intense 'pins-and-needles' prickling sensation.
Avatar f tn Doctor recommended XYZAL. But I went to Pharmacy and the price is HUGE. Pharmacist said that Claranix and ZERTEC are in the same family. I got a shot of dermacort (Prednisone) today and bought Claranix . Waiting for allergy Doc. appointment. Last time I went to allergist, I succumbed to getting allergy drops (like shots, only drops under the tongue). I did that for 2 years. Didn't help. Didn't help stress, heat, chemicals, etc.
Avatar f tn t remember the name, Zyrtec, Xyzal and Ranitidine. I have changed my shampoo to Neutrogena, stopped using hairspray and use Neutrogena lotion. Nothing is working. Do you have any ideas what this could be it is driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn ll tell you whether she wants you to take 10mg/day of Xyzal or do something else and whether you need to make an appointment ;)
Avatar m tn My back has been feeling better, but my headache is still around. I have an appointment in 2 weeks to go see him again to test my liver because of another medication he prescribed me for toenail fungus. I'm definitely worried about the headache, is it reasonable to go now in light of the fact that I have an appointment in 2 weeks? I want to be as rational as possible about this. And out of curiosity, should I request a catscan? Thank you!!
Avatar n tn Over 5 weeks ago, I took XYZal for 4 days to help with Fall allergies. Shortly after I stopped taking XYZ-al, I started itching all over my body. I went to my dermatologist. she narrowed it down to the allergy medication. Has anyone experienced this reaction? It has been 5 miserable weeks....I am on hydroxyzine pills which make me sleepy so I can only take at night to relieve itching/pinching. I have used multiple lotions. I called manufacturer who really were no help.
Avatar n tn within ten days, I go from large scab like crusty bumps that itch to the extreme to almost completely back to 100% normal. My body loved whatever that medicine did, which I assume means it cleared the strep and my body responded by healing the spots. I noticed I did retain a very slight itch in comparison to where it was on the intense scale, but it would come and go, some days here, some days completely gone. But no bumps or rash anywhere. December 08 to April 08 I was just like that.
738462 tn?1232154170 ve been told I have everything from mrsa to toxic erythema multiforme to vasculitis to cellulitis to angioedema... But never anything to really back it up, except for the mrsa.. Every test the doctors have done on me comes back normal, with the exception of my Immunglobulin E being high, my triglycerides are high and my ASO count being high (forgive me if I don't have the terminology down yet). The hives come and go, but mostly they just keep coming..
Avatar f tn I have been to the family doctor, the ENT, allergies and now I am going to a neurologist. My symptoms are burning sensation in cheeks leading to ears and teeth. Throbbing pain in my nose (like pulse or heatbeat), constant headache, darck circles under eyes and severe post nasal drip. I have been on many type of antibiotics, use a saline rinse 2-3 times a day, take Nasonex, Astepro, Xyzal, Singulair and headache medicine.
Avatar n tn Thyroid hormones/antibodies are within range (other than 1 slightly elevated free T4), but right lobe of thyroid gland was found to be enlarged on ultrasound (endocrinologist does not believe that to be the cause). Liver enzymes originally checked in December and found to be on high end of normal. Retested in March '10 and found to be slightly elevated. Retested again in April '10 and found to be increasing slowly.
Avatar f tn But the service (at least where I am) is terrible compared to the US. When I went to the doctor here for the first time I felt like I was going back to a 60's public school. Inspires confidence.
