Is xyzal better than zyrtec

Common Questions and Answers about Is xyzal better than zyrtec

xyzal

Avatar n tn I checked my favorite drug site and they are the same. OTC Zyrtec is essentially the same medication. Some people say that Xyzal is a more 'purified" form of the chemical. You can try Zyrtec to see if it works as well. Take care.
Avatar n tn Hello there, Welcome to the allergy forum. I see you joined Med help this month. You say you have taken the xyzal tablets for 5 years. That's a long time to be taking a medication. Here is what I would suggest. I would make an appointment with the doctor who prescribed the xyzal tablets for you. I would tell your doctor what you just shared in your post. That if you do not take the tablet for more than a day, you experience itchiness all over your body especially on your arms and legs.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar f tn for 7 months i was on 40 - 50 mg of ultralan DAILY (it seemed to work better than Prednisone), 2 atarax tablets, 3-4 Xyzal (or zyrtec) daily. if i even tried to lessen the dose then my lips, tongue, eyes and throat would swell. the hives lessened but never fully went away. my weight ballooned and i was in a constant stupor and NOT HAPPY. oh noooo. eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication.
Avatar m tn In the past I have taken Zyrtec, Claritin, and Xyzal....Zyrtec seems to work best for me. You can get both Zyrtec and Claritin over the counter, and both come in a generic form (I take the generic form of Zyrtec). This helped my allergies tremendously, I would recommend taking one daily while your symptoms are in full-force, and then backing off to just whenever it's needed when your symptoms settle down.
Avatar f tn Another Dermatologist had given zentel, Ivermectol for only one dose. and xyzal daily. Now She is not getting hives than previous days. will she get rid of hives completely?
Avatar m tn ve tried em all, Loratadine, Claritin, XYZal, Benedryl, Zyrtec, etc..... I see an allergist on the 28th, but was wondering if anyone has ever experienced tingling/shaking due to allergy/sneezing.
Avatar m tn HI, Mar 2018 I was fine. Allergy test revealed Cedar, Elm tree allergen. I began allergy shots, for a month, afterwards I began sneezing up a storm. Developed chronic rhinitis in the process. I've also developed montly infections, non stop since Mar 2018. Was on antibiotics for 4 months straight, last year. This year Feb/March been on antibiotics Amox/Clav. Each time, I complete course of antibiotics, I begin sneezing up a storm !!
Avatar m tn She can get some steroid cream if the rashes last for a while (it makes them go away faster) and if she gets itchy, something like Xyzal, Zyrtec or Benadryl works well. The steroid cream and Xyzal are by prescripion...Zyrtec and Benadryl are OTC If she finds she's having a problem with most of the commerical soaps, making her own plant-based, oil soap might be a good option. If she wants more info about that, leave a note on my page and I'll be happy to tell her more. Lots of luck!
454221 tn?1259445739 He has been taking Xyzal. His frequent urination started about the same time he started taking this new med. I looked it up and didn't see frequent urination as one of their side effects.
Avatar m tn Like many people, I think I tend to think the worst in a situation. And I have had hypochondria like tendencies in the past. There are three specific times where I have thought myself to have had a severe disease which turned out to be nothing. Here are the facts as I know them: *I have in the past 6 months been under a lot of stress *I drink coffee daily *I have had a dull headache for the past three weeks, mostly on the left side of my head. My scalp has felt a little sensitive also.
Avatar f tn They are still kind of itchy, burn, and hurt. I went to the doctor he gave me some pills called xyzal. He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful. i dont know what it is and its scaring me because I've never been the type of person that has allergic reactions?

Avatar n tn Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble. I'm getting an allergy test soon but have to be off the antihistamine for 5 days and I'm scared about that. I get so uncomfortable. Has anyone out there ever experienced this similiar problem?
Avatar f tn I am going on 3 years. My advice is to call McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and bother them until they report this to the FDA ( who probably wont do anything about it anyway). They will initially tell you they have never heard of this occuring, but that is a lie their lawyers came up with. If they dont admit to it they dont have to report it or list it as a potential side effect. I have reported it and know of a couple of others.
Avatar n tn Got bumped up to a cream called Flucinonide. It works better than the Triamcinolone for sure, but still only about 6-8 hours and I have to re-apply. However, the spots that were getting bigger have disappeard, but im sure that the intensity of the itch has increased greatly, because when the Flucinonide wears off, its INTENSE and fast! Also, started waking up at the same exact time each morning itching primarily my inner thighs (which have always been the worst), and the back of my ankles.
1116122 tn?1268496794 I have no intention of getting rid of my cat, however, since this is the best my allergies have been around pets in years. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar n tn I have a really really bad problem with my skin. Whenever I go outside the sun, or the heater, in general wherever it's hot, my skin gets extremely prickly and it has many red bumps all over my body. I've tried many allergy medicines such as HYDROXYZINE HCL, DOXEPIN, FEXOFENADINE, XYZAL, ZYRTEC, but they didn't help the breakout at all. I think I'm not allergic with anything, because I already took the blood test, and everything appeared negatively.
Avatar f tn Doctor recommended XYZAL. But I went to Pharmacy and the price is HUGE. Pharmacist said that Claranix and ZERTEC are in the same family. I got a shot of dermacort (Prednisone) today and bought Claranix . Waiting for allergy Doc. appointment. Last time I went to allergist, I succumbed to getting allergy drops (like shots, only drops under the tongue). I did that for 2 years. Didn't help. Didn't help stress, heat, chemicals, etc.
1528897 tn?1291833568 Its successor Xyzal has even fewer (same basic active chemical, but it is more purified). Allegra also has few side effects. Sometimes you have to try different meds to find one that works well with your metabolism for the best treatment with the fewest side effects. If you haven't tried sinus rinses, they are amazing for allergy control. I started them about 2 1/2 years ago and have only missed about 5 of the twice aday rituals. One was because I was in a power outage.
Avatar f tn I have been on many type of antibiotics, use a saline rinse 2-3 times a day, take Nasonex, Astepro, Xyzal, Singulair and headache medicine. Some days are better than other but most days are constant pain, numbness, throbbing. A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large.
Avatar f tn t remember the name, Zyrtec, Xyzal and Ranitidine. I have changed my shampoo to Neutrogena, stopped using hairspray and use Neutrogena lotion. Nothing is working. Do you have any ideas what this could be it is driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed. I was wondering if I could take 2 xyzal a day instead o 1. The only other medication that I am on is ortho cyclin birth control. Would I be okay if I took a 5 mg of xyzal early in the morning and then another in the late afternoon? Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn discharge with a dough like texture but no smell. I am taking xyzal but my appetite has slowly decreased every day. Now i am to the point that I dont want to eat at all. If I do eat all I want to eat is nuts. Also have been trying to get pregnant for 1 1/2 years after miscarriage.
738462 tn?1232154170 Hi. I'm brand new to this site, so please excuse me if I seem like I don't know what I'm doing or how exactly this whole thing works in advance... But, I have had huge hives or welts, since August. I've seen specialists and been in hospitals and have had every test (as far as I know) run on me, with no real etched in stone answers..
Avatar n tn Cannot get an appointment with gastroenterologist until May 27 (Allergist is currently coordinating treatment). Currently on Allegra, Zyrtec, Singulair, Doxepin, and Colchicine for hives, Wellbutrin & Topamax for bipolar disorder. Previously on prednisone, up to 80mg/day for 2 weeks, with no relief in symptoms.
