Xyzal and asthma

Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal and asthma

xyzal

Avatar f tn I have allergic asthma and was sick with it for a long time before I sought help. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I knew I had allergies and went to a PCP, but the allergy meds didn't work. I went to a sleep clinic because my spouse thought I had sleep apnea, but they didn't find sleep apnea. Finally I went to an allergist and I'm feeling much, much better. I use Xyzal, Nasacort AQ, Symbicort and a rescue medication as needed.
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been on many type of antibiotics, use a saline rinse 2-3 times a day, take Nasonex, Astepro, Xyzal, Singulair and headache medicine. Some days are better than other but most days are constant pain, numbness, throbbing. A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large.
Avatar n tn Do you still suffer from an itchy and runny nose ? If not, maybe it is time to get off of the xyzal tablets , but you need your doctor's permission and your doctor will tell you the safe way to gradually get off of this medication. Otherwise, there will no doubt be side effects of withdrawing from this medication which you say you have been taking for five years. Another idea is to check out this website : www.drugs.com. This is a great website.
Avatar f tn I went from miserable with no antihistamines working (and developing asthma) to asthma and allergies mostly undercontrol with strict environmental cleaning/washing cats once a week/using product to help denature dander to allergies almost completely gone! My asthma is still flaring up (been the worse ever this week) so I think there is another trigger besides my allergies to dust and cats.
Avatar f tn After 8 months of constant hives, lip swelling, eye swelling and finger swelling, i went to an allergist and got prescribed Xyzal. It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed. I was wondering if I could take 2 xyzal a day instead o 1. The only other medication that I am on is ortho cyclin birth control.
1580703 tn?1651904887 there is no sure thing as a true asthma cure - azithromycin only works in a few selective cases and therefore it is probably a subset of asthma. You are not exhaling well because you have asthma and probably are not taking the correct dosage of meds. Talk to your doctor and work out a plan for exercise and general symptoms and a time frame about how quickly you move forward in your exercise regime.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar f tn I also noticed an exzema rash under my arms and inside my left elbow. The rash under my right arm and left elbow is quite itchy. Why is this happening?
1528897 tn?1291833568 A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma is necessary and it directs further steps for management. You need to take measures to avoid exposure to such allergens. You can try sleeping with windows closed, which will avoid exposure to aero-allergen in the morning. You cannot change environment so naturally you have to change yourself.
Avatar f tn My son has allergys and just recently was diagonosed with asthma brought on especially from exertion. He plays soccer and doesnt have the painful itching then, but after a shower?? I'm no so sure it's UC then. Anyone else have this? What helps he is really in pain.
Avatar f tn While in India a pulmonologist at a good hospital diagnosed me with allergies and asthma (spiro something test before and after a med). I suddenly had developed wheezing and coughing after exposure to some toxic paint plus for a couple of years when I climb stairs I am short of breath. He said to take meds for a month at one dose and for another month at a half dose and to thereafter see another pulmonologist.
Avatar n tn He said if itching goes away after four days of using the XYZAL, then I will try Niaspin and see how my body will react. Now, after using XYZAL for two days, my body is still itching, there is no diffrence yet. I got two more pills of XYZAL. I'll wait two more days and I'll publish my comment about this medicine. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn but it is most severe with hair dye that manifests in the form of urticaria, breathlessness, hyperthermia, and BP changes .she is diabetic and also asthmatic .one dermatologist advised to take xyzal tablet one tablet at night time on alternate days for 6 months but not much effect.also if she doesnt take the tablet , whether she uses dye or not still she gets some allergy or breathlessness.the last event was really severe aand she was taken to the emergency dept .
1580703 tn?1651904887 To control asthma, you must control ALL asthma triggers like allergies, reflux, chemical and particulate irritants... Stress is a known trigger of asthma as well. You need to find a way not to dwell on your health so much and relax. Work with good doctors and they will eventually get you back to good health. It may take a long time (3+ years for me), but it is possible. Also, pulmonary function tests can be a little miss leading. The numbers are based on 'norms'.
Avatar m tn In the past I have taken Zyrtec, Claritin, and Xyzal....Zyrtec seems to work best for me. You can get both Zyrtec and Claritin over the counter, and both come in a generic form (I take the generic form of Zyrtec). This helped my allergies tremendously, I would recommend taking one daily while your symptoms are in full-force, and then backing off to just whenever it's needed when your symptoms settle down.
Avatar f tn In addition to my current advair, singular, xyzal and nasocort. The doctor added in a short burst of prednisone (medrol pack) and then wants me to start asthmanex when the medrol pack is finished to break the bronchiospasm cycle. She wants to see me in two weeks. Does that sound like a lot of medications? I have found that upper repsiratory stuff and viruses have triggered bronchiospasms, wheezing, coughing etc for years.
Avatar f tn ENT said eustachian tube dysfunction due to allergies (tested positive for various inhalent allergies) and said to use Xyzal and Flonase. Xyzal made me too sleepy so stopped, and Flonase has done nothing. ENT said it would take Flonase a month to clear up the ETD. The constant ear popping wouldn't bother me if it weren't accompanied by the lightheadedness and brain fog, which sometimes by the end of the day turns into a very bad headache and then disappears.
Avatar m tn Hello Doc, Your advice pls, As I told u I visited a general physician without disclosing him STD exposure. Now after taking 3 days medicine proposed by him Atarax and Xyzal. Rather I m now observing general redness of skin on hands also. Do you suggest visiting skin specialist or any other blood test ?
Avatar f tn She did well with that for awhile, however the following year she was running track and passed out, lips and nailbed cyanotic, shallow breathing - diagnosed with asthma and heat exhaustion. She passed out in class while sitting at her desk and the nurse said her lungs were clear. She passed out while standing in line for a short time, turning very pale and ashy, cyanotic lips and nailbeds, shallow breathing. CT scan - normal, blood work normal, EKG normal, 24 hour holtor monitor - normal.
Avatar n tn I took XYZal for 4 days for my Fall allergies. Once I stopped, I developed this maddening itching all over!!!! I went to my dermatologist who prescribed hydroxyzine capsules. The meds help somewhat....but also make me tired so I can only take at night!!! I have been suffering for FIVE weeks. Any idea when I can expect this reaction to end?? Or at least some tips on method of relief? PLEASE!!
Avatar f tn the hives lessened but never fully went away. my weight ballooned and i was in a constant stupor and NOT HAPPY. oh noooo. eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication. i still take a daily xyzal otherwise the hives come back not the anaphylaxis though. it took another 2 years to lose the steroid bloat. the steroids muck up your system totally. still can't take most dairy products.
Avatar n tn abdominal pain loss of appetite and loss of weight 15 pounds in 3 months. discharge with a dough like texture but no smell. I am taking xyzal but my appetite has slowly decreased every day. Now i am to the point that I dont want to eat at all. If I do eat all I want to eat is nuts. Also have been trying to get pregnant for 1 1/2 years after miscarriage.
Avatar n tn There is also a new medication based on a humanized mouse anti-body that works for a lot of people with asthma and chronic hives and angioedema. (xolair....they company helps pay the cost, just apply....but it did not work for me, in fact it made things worse, but everyone else in the d0c's office had complete success.) I feel for you. You have to find a very good allergist who keeps up with the very latest approaches. I hope this helps you.
