Xopenex use

Common Questions and Answers about Xopenex use

xopenex

Avatar n tn I use Xopenex and was able to cut back drasticly from the perscribed doseage. I have COPD and count the number of breaths taken (like between 20 to 40) instead of mg's taken. You might try this, but slowly.
Avatar n tn Hi, fast heart rate is due to Xopenex. Initially, use of this drug is associated with this side effect but over a period of time, tolerance usually develops. In case if you have a pre exisiting heart disease, please avoid this drug. Consult you treating doctor to lower the dose or frequency, other alternative is sustained release deriphylline tablets.
Avatar f tn I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.
212161 tn?1599427282 (acts quickly) inhalers such albuterol can cause palpitations and arrhythmias. But this reaction is rare as long as you use the recommended dosage. Steroid inhalers are maintenance inhalers meant to prevent asthma attacks. They do not have cause palpitations and arrhythmias.
1315759 tn?1274044788 i am on the albuterol pump plus the breathing machine, which both does no good. what other inahlers can i use? or the breathing treatments? at the hospital, they give me xopenex, which works ok, not really good for me. the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened. instead of getting better, it was staying the same and making me feel out of control.
312330 tn?1245176752 Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.
212161 tn?1599427282 Yes, it's called adult onset asthma. I never had it either until one year ago, but because I went on a very healthy diet and eliminated milk products and sugar, I stopped wheezing. Lately I started eating all of the bad foods again and now once again I am wheezing. I too refuse to take medications, but 2 weeks ago I did use Xopenex (it's a bronchodialator) that helped me to breathe.
Avatar f tn He said that he must have gotten some sort of virus and it triggered his asthma. He told me to continue his Singulair, Pulmicort Respules one time a day, Xopenex in the nebulizer every four hours, and he prescribed Prednisone two times per day (dr. said to start the steroid only if the cough does not slow down). So on Wednesday morning, my son woke up at 6:30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited!
Avatar m tn There are times where I feel like my lungs are tight or have some mucous in them, but when I use my peak flow meter I'm 85%-100% of my personal best. Does anyone else experience this? Does it mean I'm really not having asthma symptoms and should not use my inhaler (although it feels like I should)? Or maybe there's an aspect of my asthma that is not being addressed?
Avatar n tn However, my son has been on other medications for sinisitis and bronchitis that could account for a headache. He now off of pulmicort, xopenex and nasonex. He is currently going through allergy testing as well. It is very difficult for me to try to determine the cause of the headache with so much going on with him. He is feeling completely better aside from this headache.
212161 tn?1599427282 i have the xopenex hfa 45mcg one and she just gave me the flovent 110 i have not got filled so looks like i can use either right. tanks again you dont know how releif i feel.
Avatar n tn advair has warnings on it that it can cause candidiasis, yeast infections if not rinsing mouth or the dispenser, I would not use this, you can also get it in your lungs, remain untreated even if they treat your mouth and not your entire body, it can get into your eyes, too, long term use, cataracts, If you can use something else or not at all, then do it, but do not use meds ALL the time, give your body a break , see how you feel, if you use meds ALL the time, eventually, your body could get dna
Avatar f tn Hi, Asthma cannot worsen angina but over use of inhaler albuterol can lead to low potassium levels in the blood, which in turn can cause palpitations, arrhythmias, irregular beats etc. So if you are experiencing frequent attacks of asthma, you should try to prevent triggering agents which cause asthma and also get evaluated by a pulmonologist for correction of dose of polemicist for preventing further attacks of asthma. Hope this helps. Best.
212161 tn?1599427282 plus i feel like under water for sec than it goes away is that asthma, it goes away without me taking aything to make it go away ,i have two inhalers and have only used twice yes it helped with one puff than i not use again for days, does asthma do you like that . can any one with asthma tell me if you do this or is the the cold/broncuties maybe just still hanging on. sorry about spelling . and am scared to take a inhakler i have been using the xopenex haler ..
Avatar f tn Pulmonary function tests were normal but she thinks I have asthma. I am on Xopenex inhaler and Quvar inhaler. Recently having more attacks and having to use the Xopenx more so she ordered antibiotic and 1 week of predinose. She wants to do a high resolution CT of the chest and methocholine test but it is very exspensive so I am trying the conservative approach first. Do you think I have been misdiagnosed? I am so healthy otherwise and don't smoke.
Avatar n tn Almost all my meds have stopped working (spiriva, symbicort, advair, etc.) the only meds that have any effect is my xopenex inhaler - even the xopenex solution for my nebulizer causes breathing problems sometimes. Even the oxygen(2 ltrs) is not working as well. If I am setting down I breath very well with or without the oxygen but if I start moving around I must have the oxygen and then I'm still short of breath.
Avatar f tn She was tested for allergies and asthma twice She takes singulair albuterol inhaler and xopenex viles in her nebulizer according to the recommendations of the doctor . Each time she has a spell of not getting her breath she also experiences heart pounding episodes Also after strenuous exercise occasionally this heart pounding occurs.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar f tn I do have bronchiectasis and that is the reason for the continued green phelgm after the pneumonia has cleared. The doctor is having me use a vest airway clearance system and nebulizer to help me loosen and rid myself of the mucus.
212161 tn?1599427282 I HAVE SVT. MY HEART RATE HAS GOTTEN UP TO 300BPS AND STAYED THAT WAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR MORE UNTIL I COULD BE SEEN BY AN ER. I ALSO AM ON XOPENEX AND SYMBICORT. IT DOESN'T MAKE YOUR HEART RACE AS BAD AS THE OTHER INHALERS. THE WORST THING FOR ME IS TO USE ALBUTERAL VIA NEBULIZER. IT MAKES MY HEART RACE EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD 2 HEART SURGERIES TO REPAIR MY SVT.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
Avatar n tn When I read the info that went with it and looked up info on line it said something about interacting with asthma meds and meds for the urinary tract. I have asthma and take flovent and xopenex I also have interstitial cystitis so therefore I take Elmiron. I have no idea if the doctor read my list of meds or not. But I do not want to take this if there is going to be an interaction. I also take thyroid meds-- armour and have endometriosis so I will take Advil and Tylenol for the pain from endo.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I take Dulera/Singulair/Xopenex and Spiriva and sometimes Combivent. Is there a med like theophylline that can help me? I'm also having bad sleep apnea and am crippled by this and can't work or think because of my lung diseases. Is my sleep apnea caused by asthma or narrowed airway?
Avatar m tn Apparently you have asthma or some breathing problems already since you are taking Xopenex and Symbicort. Xopenex is similar to regular albuterol which is a fast acting inhaler for asthma (something I use). It will increase your heart rate for awhile after you use it. For me, that means about 10-15 minutes. I also get shaky, jittery hands. But it eases off. The Symbicort is used when asthma is not well controlled yet.
