Xopenex nebulizer inhalation solution

Common Questions and Answers about Xopenex nebulizer inhalation solution

xopenex

Avatar n tn Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) is a short acting inhaled medicine, a rescue medicine, with fewer side effects than similar medicines used for the relief of acute asthma symptoms. It is not a medicine well-suited for long term, sustained asthma control. There are other classes of asthma medicines, called controller medicines and these do not have the same excitatory side effects.
Avatar n tn I have a question about normal saline for inhalation (as in a nebulizer). I was surprised today to find out that I needed a prescription for this! Why is that? Has it always been the case?
Avatar n tn Xopenx 1.25 mg and Ipratropium Bromide 0.02%.
Avatar m tn My question is, is there any general method to synthesis an inhalation solution, mine would be strictly vitamin and herbal based and targeted to help treat asthmatic sypmtoms, the solution would be used in a nebulizer, and would it be safe to use a vit/herb liquid solution to breath in?
Avatar f tn I should be getting the nebulizer sooner than the vest. I believe the perscription he wrote for the nebulizer is albuterol. My first pulmonary doctor had it in his mind that I did not have Bronchiectasis in spite of the CT scan. Up until January, I have not been sick (Since January, I have not been well) and I'm 59. When he got the 2nd CT scan report, it didn't say anything about bronc & he was too lazy to read the CD of the scan.
Avatar f tn 30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited! I gave him his Xopenex in the nebulizer, put him in the steamy bathroom, gave him a dose of the steroid. Throughout the day today, he did okay. He coughed, but not all that bad and he still took his Xopenex every four hours. Tonight he is in bed . . . Coughing! Any ideas? He is on so many meds, why doesn't anything stop this cough? If I was coughing like this I would have to take something to make it stop.
Avatar f tn I purchased the Omron Portable Ultrasonic Nebulizer and am using the vials of Albuterol and Ipratropium. I can only use 1/2 vial because more than that speeds my heart up too much. Can I save the last 1/2 of the vial for later use? Does anybody know of a more affordable way to get the medicine I need? I am paying out of pocket and this economy gets harder every day it seems like.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
Avatar n tn appreciate the info, problem is I dont currently have a doctor. no medicines either. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have been on advair and xopenex for a nebulizer but since around Dec or so precsriptions ran out and no insurance so dont have a doctor or any medicine. I am making it okay but did need advice about this trip. not sure at this point what to do. I will be traveling with my 2 grandkids 5 and 6 and sure dont need any health scares with them present as their dad just died may 2008.
454286 tn?1205883067 lots of phlegm etc, she gave him a Zpak + nebulizer with Albuterol solution. We did that nothing changed. Sent him for second xray, which showed atalectasis and pneumonia altho the report didnt say any pneumonia, just atalectasis. Treated him with 10 days Augmentin and Pedia Pred. Cough cleared up, No sickness either. 6 days after antibiotics , breathing tx's and pedia pred finished, cough returns with fever. Had chest CT and doc says Atalectasis caused by Asthma.
Avatar f tn She was tested for allergies and asthma twice She takes singulair albuterol inhaler and xopenex viles in her nebulizer according to the recommendations of the doctor . Each time she has a spell of not getting her breath she also experiences heart pounding episodes Also after strenuous exercise occasionally this heart pounding occurs.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar n tn And you need your physician to prescribe TWO solutions. Ipratropium Bromide inhalation solution .02 (0.5 mg/vial) and Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation solution (O.83%). There are severalissues. You will eventually acustum yourself to these solutions and they will stop working. You should have at least two weeks.Probably months, but at least two weeks before this happens. The Albuterol will make you "antsy" and nervous. If it gets too bad try the Ipratroprium alone.
Avatar n tn You need to take mucolytics which includes iodide preparations, Acetylcysteine and steam inhalation after consultation from physician, as well as appropriate therapy for the root cause. Take care and regards.
1987536 tn?1337916244 The reality is that I have had allergic rhinitis during the whole pregnancy, I am 18 weeksand the last two days have been horrible w my breathing. So, I used my rescue nebulizer yesterday and today with albuterol. I feel much better, but curiosity intrigued me and I started Googling about the risks of not taking meds vs taking the meds and they both blow. Now, I feel like a terrible mommy but at the same time I know my angel needs my lungs to be strong...I feel like i should?
Avatar n tn He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician. The other item that kept coming up was his attention span. Most of his intellectual skills - cutting, drawing, writing, etc - were up to par.
Avatar n tn ) the only meds that have any effect is my xopenex inhaler - even the xopenex solution for my nebulizer causes breathing problems sometimes. Even the oxygen(2 ltrs) is not working as well. If I am setting down I breath very well with or without the oxygen but if I start moving around I must have the oxygen and then I'm still short of breath.

Avatar n tn (I have had asthma my entire life and at the first signs of a sniffle and some tightness I immediately start a prednisone taper and Xopenex nebulizer). I was prescribed azithromycin and told to continue with my xopenex and prednisone. I also took cough syrup, sudafed and motrin. Saturday I was significantly worse and over the weekend it esciladed. My temperature would go from 96.2 to 100.5 and back down over a 30min period.
Avatar f tn he takes nebulizer treatments on a daily basis, pulmicort and if needed, xopenex, he cardiac issues, asthma and narrowing if his throat. he has been on these medications since he was 5 weeks old. today while he was at school he was very short of breath and not wheezing but could feel that junkie **** in his lungs, so they gave him a treatment, as they gave him his treatment his eyes rolled tothe back of his head and started to flutter, the person said this can happen during an asthma attack.
Avatar f tn In the states we have several versions of albuterol - Proair, Proventil, Ventolin, Maxair (technically pributerol) and a purified version Xopenex (technically levalbuterol). All of them Xopenex is the only one that does not go by albuterol. No generics because of the cfc ban. We do have generic albuterol neb solution. The Xopenex doesn't cause the shakiness that the other versions do and can be more effective. I wonder if that is what part of my problem has been? hmmmmm...
Avatar n tn The doctors have put my 4 year old on xopenex and pulmicort via nebulizer. they said that is the best one for him, he has a complicated history. You really need to seek a 2nd opinion, and that is just my opinion. from everything that my little guy has been through I always maek sure that I also have a copy of his medical reports that way there if you go for a second opinion, then you have all of that stuff and you can be prepared. to ask questions or whatever.
Avatar n tn We bought 2 guinea pigs 7 days before our 7 yr old began coughing and running a constant low grade temp. WE're now on day 13, but have taken 5 days of z-pac, xopenex nebulizer and codituss cough med with codiene. Her coughing during the day is much improved but as soon as she lies down for bedtime the coughing begins. She coughed over an hour before falling asleep and then coughed almost non-stop from 1:30-6:30 this am. Still running a low-grade temp.
Avatar n tn is it okay to use albuterol sulfate inhalation solution .083 % even if its out of code? I have real bad asthma and I got a serve cold and cant afford to go to doctor.
Avatar n tn The only thing that seems to help for any length of time is my Xopenex inhaler, even using the xopenex solution in my nebulizer sometimes makes me feel congested. I have been feeling so short of breath that I exercise very little and I know that is not helping matters. I go back to see my Pulmonary Dr. next month but he doesn't seem to be that interested in whats happening "just keep using your meds and exercise".
212161 tn?1599427282 I HAVE SVT. MY HEART RATE HAS GOTTEN UP TO 300BPS AND STAYED THAT WAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR MORE UNTIL I COULD BE SEEN BY AN ER. I ALSO AM ON XOPENEX AND SYMBICORT. IT DOESN'T MAKE YOUR HEART RACE AS BAD AS THE OTHER INHALERS. THE WORST THING FOR ME IS TO USE ALBUTERAL VIA NEBULIZER. IT MAKES MY HEART RACE EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD 2 HEART SURGERIES TO REPAIR MY SVT.
Avatar n tn Hello :-). My son has asthma which manifests itself in a cough and often shows up during/after colds (he doesn't appear to have any problems with breathing in enough air... no emergencies, thank goodness). He takes Singulair every night, Albuterol as needed and Benadryl as needed (all as suggested by his doctor). He recently had a cold and his asthma flared up. We gave him albuterol via his nebulizer 3 times daily for around 6 days (his ped said 4-7 days).
