Xopenx 1.25 mg and Ipratropium Bromide 0.02%.
I should be getting the nebulizer sooner than the vest. I believe the perscription he wrote for the nebulizer is albuterol.
My first pulmonary doctor had it in his mind that I did not have Bronchiectasis in spite of the CT scan. Up until January, I have not been sick (Since January, I have not been well) and I'm 59. When he got the 2nd CT scan report, it didn't say anything about bronc & he was too lazy to read the CD of the scan.
30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited! I gave him his Xopenex in the nebulizer, put him in the steamy bathroom, gave him a dose of the steroid.
Throughout the day today, he did okay. He coughed, but not all that bad and he still took his Xopenex every four hours.
Tonight he is in bed . . . Coughing!
Any ideas? He is on so many meds, why doesn't anything stop this cough? If I was coughing like this I would have to take something to make it stop.
he takes nebulizer treatments on a daily basis, pulmicort and if needed, xopenex, he cardiac issues, asthma and narrowing if his throat. he has been on these medications since he was 5 weeks old.
today while he was at school he was very short of breath and not wheezing but could feel that junkie **** in his lungs, so they gave him a treatment, as they gave him his treatment his eyes rolled tothe back of his head and started to flutter, the person said this can happen during an asthma attack.
appreciate the info, problem is I dont currently have a doctor. no medicines either. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have been on advair and xopenex for a nebulizer but since around Dec or so precsriptions ran out and no insurance so dont have a doctor or any medicine. I am making it okay but did need advice about this trip. not sure at this point what to do. I will be traveling with my 2 grandkids 5 and 6 and sure dont need any health scares with them present as their dad just died may 2008.

Each time she has a spell of not getting her breath she also experiences heart pounding episodes Also after strenuous exercise occasionally this heart pounding occurs.
This winter so far has been particularly difficult , he has had a cough , heavy chest congestion for almost 2 months . Along with the nebulizer treatment during the day at night I leave the humidifier on low setting and keep the door slightly open for ventilation .. you don't want it to get too humid in the room and found that it helps a little to try to alleviate the coughing.

(I have had asthma my entire life and at the first signs of a sniffle and some tightness I immediately start a prednisone taper and Xopenex nebulizer). I was prescribed azithromycin and told to continue with my xopenex and prednisone. I also took cough syrup, sudafed and motrin. Saturday I was significantly worse and over the weekend it esciladed. My temperature would go from 96.2 to 100.5 and back down over a 30min period.
Almost all my meds have stopped working (spiriva, symbicort, advair, etc.) the only meds that have any effect is my xopenex inhaler - even the xopenex solution for my nebulizer causes breathing problems sometimes. Even the oxygen(2 ltrs) is not working as well. If I am setting down I breath very well with or without the oxygen but if I start moving around I must have the oxygen and then I'm still short of breath.
We bought 2 guinea pigs 7 days before our 7 yr old began coughing and running a constant low grade temp. WE're now on day 13, but have taken 5 days of z-pac, xopenex nebulizer and codituss cough med with codiene. Her coughing during the day is much improved but as soon as she lies down for bedtime the coughing begins. She coughed over an hour before falling asleep and then coughed almost non-stop from 1:30-6:30 this am. Still running a low-grade temp.
I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
That is really more of a collection of lung conditions where the lungs are too reactive to harmless substances. It is important to rule out other reactive airway issues to get the propper treatment. There are other conditions that cause broncho-constriction besides asthma.
Either way though, with your reactions after exercise, it sounds like a fast acting broncho dilater (some form of albuterol - Proventil, Porair, Maxair, Xopenex, Ventolin) might be a good idea.
it may help to use a nebulizer with medications like combivent, xopenex; I use them for my asthma
He has not slept through the night for five nights and his cough is a wrenching rasping hard one most of the time. We are treating him with Xopenex every 4-6 hours (per several docs), Claritin during the day and Benedryl during the night (to help with post nasal drip), steam, humidifier, the works. Today he got one dose of prednezone at the emergency room in the hope it would help but he continued to cough until he vomited most of the rest of today.
