Xopenex bronchodilator

Common Questions and Answers about Xopenex bronchodilator

xopenex

Avatar m tn you have more options in Australia than in the US. All short acting brochodilators have potential side effects like insomnia.
Avatar n tn I take it you are talking about the xopenex ampules and not the xopenex spray? If its the spray then there might be something that can be given to him that is not as strong. Hope this helps.
212161 tn?1599427282 thank you so much i have the rescue one xopenex hfa says its levalbuterol. than i have one for night its a powder its asmanex . i have been like this now for 2 months it seems to get better than last night it was not bad but woke me up at 1 could not sleep for coughing and wheezing and scared i was going have a bad attack and die from it , so i need the inhaler just to scared to take it. so are these ok or will the xop cause the heart speed. thank you so much.
Avatar n tn Hi, fast heart rate is due to Xopenex. Initially, use of this drug is associated with this side effect but over a period of time, tolerance usually develops. In case if you have a pre exisiting heart disease, please avoid this drug. Consult you treating doctor to lower the dose or frequency, other alternative is sustained release deriphylline tablets.
Avatar f tn Either way though, with your reactions after exercise, it sounds like a fast acting broncho dilater (some form of albuterol - Proventil, Porair, Maxair, Xopenex, Ventolin) might be a good idea. These medications can be used as a pretreatment for exercise eliminating the reaction and allowing for a better workout. I hope that helps you. Good luck obtaining an accurate diagnosis and the medication that is best for you.
Avatar n tn ve been on one puff of Asmanex and albuterol (now Xopenex) as needed, but rarely needed rescue inhalers. Cold weather usually made it worse. I've only seen my general dr. for my asthma and he isn't very informative (changing doctors). The last couple of months my "asthma" has felt worse...using inhaler more, feel like there is a band across my chest and like someone stuff cotton in my airway, get out of breath so easily (just talking sometimes!).
Avatar m tn Two weeks later I started to feel bloated again, then last night the breathing issue began, used bronchodilator, which eased the problem, thought I would be in emergency room again, but used the dilator about every 1 1/2 hr. which slowed things down. Now it is superbowl sunday. I aslo use Spiriva. Question is: can the bloating casue the breathing problem with those who suffer COPD? second question: am I doing harm using dilator more often than prescribed till I get into Dr. hopefully, Monday?
1315759 tn?1274044788 or the breathing treatments? at the hospital, they give me xopenex, which works ok, not really good for me. the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened. instead of getting better, it was staying the same and making me feel out of control. how can i get my doctor to prescribe me a pulse ox for at home?
312330 tn?1245176752 Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.
Avatar n tn It is possible that the dose is too high for you and if you are going to take this medicine you should divide the dose. But there is something else the Ventolin® Rotacap® is a short-acting bronchodilator. These days it is more common to use a long-acting bronchodilator combined with an inhaled steroid. Such a combination could provide better relief of your shortness of breath without the risk of side effects. Good luck.
Avatar n tn During my routine GP visit he stated the X-Ray done in the ER showed hyperinflated lungs and referred me to a pulmonologist, he did a CT which showed moderate emphysema which is primarily paraseptal according to the report. During my PFT I did not have to do the bronchodilator/inhaler. My results were FVC Pred 4.68 Pre 4.72 %Pred 101 , FEV1 Pred 3.62 Pre 3.73 %Pred 103, FEV1/FVC Pred 77.35 Pre 79.05 %Pred 102.
757137 tn?1347196453 m currently using Symbicort 400ug x 4puffs/day along with oxeze 12ug x 3puffs/day (long acting bronchodilator). They work well in controlling my asthma symptoms. The only symptom that doesn't go away is a chronic cough due to excess lung mucous. The long lasting bronchodilator should only be used together with a steroid inhaler. This is a website that will help identify other drugs you can use. Spiriva I have heard is good for COPD. http://www.lung.
Avatar f tn He said that he must have gotten some sort of virus and it triggered his asthma. He told me to continue his Singulair, Pulmicort Respules one time a day, Xopenex in the nebulizer every four hours, and he prescribed Prednisone two times per day (dr. said to start the steroid only if the cough does not slow down). So on Wednesday morning, my son woke up at 6:30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited!
Avatar n tn Seretide (Advair, where I live) is a combination drug inhaled steroid with long-acting bronchodilator... An alternative with a similar combination would be Symbicort. There are other options/combinations out there but the key for long term controller meds are: 1.) Inhaled corticosteroid. 2.) Inhaled long-acting bronchodilator. 3.) Some combination thereof.
Avatar n tn Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar m tn You would need to stop taking it for a day or two before the test because of the long acting bronchodilator otherwise yes it might affect the test.
Avatar n tn My question is, how does Asthma affect the RV? He is now taking a Bronchodilator when needed before exercise is started. Will this help his heart? Can the RV EF go back up? Thank you, MP This discussion is related to Dilated Right Ventricular.
212161 tn?1599427282 Yes, it's called adult onset asthma. I never had it either until one year ago, but because I went on a very healthy diet and eliminated milk products and sugar, I stopped wheezing. Lately I started eating all of the bad foods again and now once again I am wheezing. I too refuse to take medications, but 2 weeks ago I did use Xopenex (it's a bronchodialator) that helped me to breathe.
Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar n tn Once just the way you were and then again after giving a bronchodilator. Those with asthma had noticeably better results after a bronchodilator, even when they were not having noticeable symptoms. I highly recommend seeing an allergy and asthma specialist for testing if you suspect that you have asthma and it isn't being addressed properly.
Avatar f tn She was tested for allergies and asthma twice She takes singulair albuterol inhaler and xopenex viles in her nebulizer according to the recommendations of the doctor . Each time she has a spell of not getting her breath she also experiences heart pounding episodes Also after strenuous exercise occasionally this heart pounding occurs.
Avatar m tn 1. Pre-bronchodilator spirometry: Normal ratio. Normal FEV1, 84%. Normal FVC, 83%. Reduced mid-expiratory flows. Also there is flattening of the inspiratory limb of the flow volume loop. 2. Post-bronchodilator spirometry: Significant bronchodilator response. FEV1 96%. FVC 93%. #. Lung Volumes: No restrictive defect. There is evidence of air trapping. 4. Diffusion capacity: Normal.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
