Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with COPD. I am using oxygen in addition to a Nebulizer four times per day. The oxygen is very helpful, but the use of the Nebulizer has made me feel worse. I develop a very rapid heart rate with the first use of the day along with extreme weakness. I don't feel well all day because I can't recover from the pounding heart rate and weakness before another session with Nebulizer is due. The two medications used in the Nebulizer are: Xopenx 1.
Avatar n tn I take it you are talking about the xopenex ampules and not the xopenex spray? If its the spray then there might be something that can be given to him that is not as strong. Hope this helps.
212161 tn?1599427282 Xopenex is similar to Albuterol and may cause palpitations and arrhythmias. Flovent and Asmanex are steroid inhalers, both of which are used for asthma.
Avatar f tn In the states we have several versions of albuterol - Proair, Proventil, Ventolin, Maxair (technically pributerol) and a purified version Xopenex (technically levalbuterol). All of them Xopenex is the only one that does not go by albuterol. No generics because of the cfc ban. We do have generic albuterol neb solution. The Xopenex doesn't cause the shakiness that the other versions do and can be more effective. I wonder if that is what part of my problem has been? hmmmmm...
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
Avatar f tn If you have Medicare and Medicaid, you will usually get your drugs covered by the Medicare prescription drug benefit (Part D) and the Extra Help program. Extra Help is the federal program that pays for most of the costs of Medicare drug coverage if you meet the eligibility requirements. In some limited cases, Medicaid may cover drugs that Medicare does not cover. As long as you have Medicare Part D your drugs will be covered. Call Medicare if you have questions.
Avatar m tn Hi, it is possible to be having asthma issues and maintaim a good peak flow for a while. Peak flow reflects how clear the larger airways are. You could be having issues in the smaller airways. The presence of mucous would indicate that something is probably going on. You should really discus this with your dr at your next visit and see what he/she says. Another thought would be acid reflux. Could this be an issue for you?
327369 tn?1326119908 P.S. Our meds are Xopenex, Pulmicort..........these do not work during a cold and we always end up on Orapred (steriod). He has to have it though...........but we are on this a lot -----do you worry about the side effects of this if you have a child. Thanks!
312330 tn?1245176752 I use xopenex as my rescue med...and right now do Qvar and Foradil for my maintenance meds right now...but obviously am not under control.
Avatar n tn appreciate the info, problem is I dont currently have a doctor. no medicines either. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have been on advair and xopenex for a nebulizer but since around Dec or so precsriptions ran out and no insurance so dont have a doctor or any medicine. I am making it okay but did need advice about this trip. not sure at this point what to do. I will be traveling with my 2 grandkids 5 and 6 and sure dont need any health scares with them present as their dad just died may 2008.
Avatar n tn Besides Liver Transplant Centers (where you MUST be treated to have your cirrhosis and portal hypertension managed) usually take both Medicaid and Medicare for payment so there is no advantage to Medicare. In fact Medicare is very expensive. You say you have one doctor. Any one doctor can NOT treat all of your health conditions and certainly not your liver disease. You will have to make sure the liver transplant center takes Medicaid. This should be the first think you do.
Avatar f tn People in Raleigh were very rude and said i need to stop being lazy and deal w my case worker...my caseworker told me to call Raleigh. So am i just pretty much **** out of luck. I just wanna have this baby and never turn to medicaid again.
7827642 tn?1396958758 For my last pregnancy I applied at 7 weeks when I found out I was pregnant and I didn't hear from them at all. I called my case worker and everything and nothing. I lost my baby because I couldn't go to the doctor and I still didn't hear from them. It was so hard.
Avatar m tn I have medicare in California I will enroll in it next month,I have liver transplant with hcv and cirrhosis ,I need to find out how medicare and if medicare pay for sovaldi and olysio.

Avatar m tn Do this anulom vilom (pranayam) morning and evening, and you will not need anything at night.Come back with your feedback so others can benefit. Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Avatar f tn I am close to Medicare age, and have a low viral load, so my doctor says my insurance won't cover Harvoni. Anyone know what Medicare's guidelines are? Do I have to be sympomatic to qualify? It's pretty frustrating knowing that there is now an easy cure, that I can't get. So I'm hoping the cost will come down soon, or Medicare will be more generous than my insurance!
Avatar m tn I have CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demylinating Neuropathy) this is the chronic form of Guillan Barre. I will be going on Medicare in April and I need to know if they will cover my IVIG treatments. The drug is Gamunex. I can't get any answers from Medicare.
Avatar f tn I called Gilead and the person there told me that Gilead will NOT give any financial assistance to ANYONE on Medicare Part D. I did some research and found out that most Part D plans DO NOT cover Solvadi and even if you do get approved through an appeal, you will still be responsible for 5% of the total cost which is exceedingly high (5% of $84,000). PAN will only pay at most $7500 of this total.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosted with COPD Stage II in 2009, it had been well controlled with meds, diet and exercise. Needless to say I was diagnosted with pneumonia and stayed 4 more days in hospital then moved to rehab for 2 1/2 more weeks. All this time I have been on 24/7 oxygen and doesn't look as if I'm ever going to get off of it. Almost all my meds have stopped working (spiriva, symbicort, advair, etc.
Avatar n tn I was able to quit using Advair and only use my rescue inhaler from time to time. (When someone decides to wear certain perfumes or colognes). I am taking grape seed extract which contains OPCs which are very good for controlling asthma. Just thought somebody would like to know...

Avatar f tn Yes, have tried Flovent, Xopenex and Advair based on diagnosis from first pulmonologist. None of it helped. After a second pulmonologist did a flo test, he ruled out regular and exercise-induced asthma.
