Common Questions and Answers about Xopenex and copd

xopenex

Avatar n tn I take it you are talking about the xopenex ampules and not the xopenex spray? If its the spray then there might be something that can be given to him that is not as strong. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosted with COPD Stage II in 2009, it had been well controlled with meds, diet and exercise. Needless to say I was diagnosted with pneumonia and stayed 4 more days in hospital then moved to rehab for 2 1/2 more weeks. All this time I have been on 24/7 oxygen and doesn't look as if I'm ever going to get off of it. Almost all my meds have stopped working (spiriva, symbicort, advair, etc.
Avatar n tn appreciate the info, problem is I dont currently have a doctor. no medicines either. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have been on advair and xopenex for a nebulizer but since around Dec or so precsriptions ran out and no insurance so dont have a doctor or any medicine. I am making it okay but did need advice about this trip. not sure at this point what to do. I will be traveling with my 2 grandkids 5 and 6 and sure dont need any health scares with them present as their dad just died may 2008.
Avatar n tn I went to this forum on line at Earth Clinic and there is debate as to whether drinking food grade hydrogen peroxide and purified water would help with COPD. Also is COPD an inflammation and can colloidal silver and mucolyxir help. What do you think about the small lung machines like Expand-A-Lung and Ultrabreathe. Am at the point I will try almost anything to feel better but only if it makes sense. Please help if you know anything about these remedies.
Avatar f tn 1) a parent or sibling with asthma greatly increases your riisk of having/developing asthma at some point in your life. So asthma is possible. 2) I would definitely try to avoid the CT scn if you can. Radiation exposure that could be avoided. 3) I haven't heard of the methocholine test being expensive, but it might be. That is the standard for a very firm asthma diagnosis. It very well could be worth it.
Avatar n tn I have an appt with a pulmonary dr. in three weeks, but would love input from people who have been through something similar. I was diagnosed with asthma a few years ago. I've been on one puff of Asmanex and albuterol (now Xopenex) as needed, but rarely needed rescue inhalers. I've only seen my general dr. for my asthma and he isn't very informative. The last couple of months my "asthma" has felt worse...
Avatar n tn Albuterol isn't the only rescue inhaler. Xopenex is also and it doesn't make you hyper or nervous like albuterol. I have battled copd for 15 years and I quit albuterol in favor of Xopenex inhaler and nebs.
Avatar f tn In the meantime along with the medications try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
212161 tn?1599427282 Xopenex is similar to Albuterol and may cause palpitations and arrhythmias. Flovent and Asmanex are steroid inhalers, both of which are used for asthma.
Avatar f tn In the states we have several versions of albuterol - Proair, Proventil, Ventolin, Maxair (technically pributerol) and a purified version Xopenex (technically levalbuterol). All of them Xopenex is the only one that does not go by albuterol. No generics because of the cfc ban. We do have generic albuterol neb solution. The Xopenex doesn't cause the shakiness that the other versions do and can be more effective. I wonder if that is what part of my problem has been? hmmmmm...
Avatar m tn I understand what you are going through and I understand your wife. I have COPD. It is moderate at this point and I am not on oxygen. First let me say that you are a fine husband for the care you take of your wife. My husband is also fine, although I don't need as much care. Now I will bring up a problem I had, with the thought that it might be your wife's problem as well. I was on inhaled steroids for some years.
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
1315759 tn?1274044788 the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened. instead of getting better, it was staying the same and making me feel out of control. how can i get my doctor to prescribe me a pulse ox for at home? i am on medicad and medicare and i am sure that if he prescribed it to me, that they would let me have one.
Avatar f tn Sinusitis, chronic bronchitis then COPD. All because doctors refused to treat the sinusitis. Because of this I can't afford the meds that are the staple of COPD treatment. But it did lead me into an alternative that works better and with less side effects. Benadryl works on the same principle as does ipratropium but I have never been told to use it. I can't tolerate Advair (causes angina) nor Albuterol (causes worse congestion and coughing).
Avatar m tn Hi, it is possible to be having asthma issues and maintaim a good peak flow for a while. Peak flow reflects how clear the larger airways are. You could be having issues in the smaller airways. The presence of mucous would indicate that something is probably going on. You should really discus this with your dr at your next visit and see what he/she says. Another thought would be acid reflux. Could this be an issue for you?
327369 tn?1326119908 P.S. Our meds are Xopenex, Pulmicort..........these do not work during a cold and we always end up on Orapred (steriod). He has to have it though...........but we are on this a lot -----do you worry about the side effects of this if you have a child. Thanks!
312330 tn?1245176752 I use xopenex as my rescue med...and right now do Qvar and Foradil for my maintenance meds right now...but obviously am not under control.
1580703 tn?1651904887 You certainly have troublesome symptoms that may or may not be related to allergy, asthma, and/or chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD) This forum can never substitute for a proper examination. I can not see you, and don't know even the most basic information, such as your age, occupation, and smoking history. Even though your chest x-ray was reported "clear" you still could have COPD.
Avatar f tn Please quit smoking - when I got diagnosed with COPD a month ago I put down the cigarettes totally. Has your doctor ordered at CT scan of your lungs? You would get better information on the progression of your COPD with a CT scan. I got a copy of my CT scan - moderate emphasema with scattered ground-glass opticities (still not sure what the ground glass means).
Avatar m tn i am currently taking crestor, leppresor, adderal and xanax i have copd it seems my copd is getting worse is one of these medications effcting my breathing
Avatar n tn , I know COPD is a herditary problem that is running in my family. My advice is take care of yourself and enjoy life. We can live many years with COPD. Promise.
Avatar n tn what is the difference between empysema and copd This discussion is related to skin quality.
