Avatar f tn WHEN MY MOTHER HAD BREAST CANCER AND HER BREAST WAS REMOVED, SHE WAS GIVEN 6 CYCLES OF CHEMO AFTER WHICH THE DOCTOR TOLD HER SHE WAS CURED. BUT AFTER 1YEAR 8 MONTHS THE CANCER CAME BACK AS METS. LATER WE CAME TO KNOW THAT SINCE SHE IS HR2+ HER CANCER IS AGGRESSIVE. THE DOCTOR KNEW THIS AND HE ALSO KNEW THAT AFTER A PERIOD OF 1.5YRS THE CANCER WILL STRIKE BACK BUT HE DID NOT WARN US SO AS TO LET US BE AT PEACE WITH THE SITUATION, THOUGH HE KEPT A 3 MONTLY CHECK UP ON HER.

Avatar f tn s attending physician for proper management. The CT scan findings showed breast cancer with metastasis or spread of the cancer to the other organs mentioned. Factors such as her complete medical history, symptoms and results of other diagnostic tests are important considerations also. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn After one three-week cycle my doctor discontinued the Xeloda. I was able to complete treatment with the oxiliplatin. This was in 2004 and I am cancer free today. Ask your mother's doctor for something else. If possible she should not stop chemo until her doctor is certain no trace of cancer remains in her lymph system. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Approx 1 year later she had a positive node/nodule removed. Within a month, the breast cancer started in her skin around the site of the node. She now has a red rash (skin mets) in approx half of her chest wall and is getting Chemo (Xeloda) and Herceptin. My question is, the skin is beginning to "harden" around the node removal surgery site. What does this mean? Any other comments on Skin mets would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn He suggests that I try Jemzar. I have stage IV mestatic breast cancer that has spread to my spine. I was dx in Feb 2002. I have previously been on different chemo.surgery, hormonal.. arimidex, aromosin, fasoldex . and several radiation treatments. I am undecided on doing any more chemo. My cancer , of course , is er/pr positive. Is there any advice on this chemo. or is there another hormonal I could try.
Avatar f tn I have recurrent Triple Negative Breast cancer. The biggest of the tumors is growing out of the mastectomy scar (which has been radiated with high doses of radiation. The tumor is making a bigger and bigger lump on my chest wall and has grown into the muscle and the chest wall itself. I have been warned that it could break through and that would cause really unpleasant results. I am taking Xeloda and hoping that will help shrink this huge tumor.
408448 tn?1286883821 Anyone ever use Xeloda pills? It is for colon cancer, but has been used in ovarian too. More for mucinous type. My cancer got pretty active on last treatment.
Avatar n tn Last year in feb ,I had a lumpectomy with 12 positive lymph nodes. Then with a pet scan discovered a lymph node supraclavicular. Stage 3 breast ca. The pathology came back her2 neg. weakly positive 20% estrogen, progesterone neg. I was treated with Adriamycin/CYTOXIN Along with 33 rounds of radiation. I was also on tamoxifen for 10 mos. and have since had a local reoccurrence in the lymph node in my neck. The lymph node has been removed and biopsied and came back the same as before.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with colon Cancer in Feb 2007. He took chemo drug Xeloda and had standard radiation. During a check up in January 2008, tumors were found in his lungs- one in each lung, sizes: 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo: Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable.
Avatar f tn My mom took Xeloda also as a maintenance drug for colorectal cancer. Typically diet and exercise do not affect CEA levels; however, inflammation can affect it. Sometimes CEA levels will rise if there is any type of inflammation. I know this is a scary time. Feel free to send me a message if you need to talk.
Avatar f tn my platelets dropped in a period of about 3 weeks from 165 to 56, to me this seems to be very quick. I am on Xeloda and the onc is thinking this may be the cause. my question is, if the Xeloda, or bone marrow mets were responsible for the drop, wouldn't it be over a period of time and not just "whammo" down it goes. I was feeling really well until one day when I was off colour and the same day had a really bad nose bleed that seemed to last forever.
Avatar f tn My Husband has Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer he is on treatments for a clinical trial Avastin, Xeloda, Oxaliplatin He has been on the Trial since early March 2010 he was diagnosed the end of February 2010 He is 35 years old and other then the Cancer has been in perfect health the treatments started off well but he developed stage 3-4 Neuropathy in August in his hands and feet. Avatar f tn t trust a word he tells her. My question is, can someone, with cancer as severe as hers is, (its in her lymphnodes and lower back as well, but, liver cancer is extensive and advanced, had cancer 1st 3 yrs ago, did a lumpectomy, and treatment for 8 months, then 4 months later it was back, then did a total mastectomy, treatment for (chemo) for 6 mo, was still on Herceptin when she became jauntice, tests revealed liver cancer) can someone live on the combination drugs (Tykerb, Xeloda) for years?
484033 tn?1208516117 Both types of neuropathy are usually mild, and patients can still function reasonably well in spite of the numbness. You'll probably still be able to use the computer or play the piano, although I'm not sure about holding a small paintbrush. I haven't had a patient on Oxaliplatin who paints, so I really don't know how that activity is going to be affected.
Avatar f tn Navelbine, or vinorelbine, is a chemotherapy that has been found to have good activity in treating metastatic breast cancer. It has been studied on its own and in combination with other chemotherapy medications. It also has been studied in combination with herceptin for treatment of metastatic breast cancer. The treatment is relatively well tolerated. The most serious side effect is neutropenia (decrease of white blood cells) that can leave one more susceptible to infection.
Avatar n tn Hi Jim, I am sorry about your wife. I just finished with chemo and radiation therapies and want to share my experience. I am scheduled for follow-up mammograms every six months, and MRI on a yearly basis. After the lumpectomy and right before the chemo, I requested a PET CT scan, for peace of mind. It was not offered to me, I requested it. There was no sign of malignancy in any other part of the body.
Avatar f tn I think a triaged approach to what you want from your treatment would help and am sure you discussed this with your doctor. First and foremost, that the treatment is effective and purging the cancer and putting you into remission. But retaining your hair can also be on the list of things you would like. Lower on the list, but there.
624160 tn?1224082480 If breast cancer runs in the family, breast cancer screening should be started 10 years earlier from the age of the first degree relative diagnosed with breast cancer. About 10% of breast cancer is hereditary. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) data showed that the incidence of breast cancer is about 1.9% in the age group of 20 to 34 years in 2001-2005. I agree with your decision to have the lump examined by your doctor.
Avatar n tn 5FU and capecitabine are useful in colon cancer. Both the regimens suggested may be valid in her case. Since the three drug regimen of Taxol+Cisplatin+5FU would address both the cancers, her doctors have decided to treat her with this regimen. In addition, a three drug regimen would be theorectically superior to a two drug regimen which in turn would be superior to a single drug regimen.
Avatar m tn He went through 6 months of chemotherapy and 2 months after his chemo regimen ended he developed Malignant Ascites in his peritoneal cavity. The doctors have said that his cancer has spread to the peritoneal cavity and this is causing the build of of Ascites. He had had the fluid removed through parecentesis several times but it just keeps coming back. Also they have put him on a new form of chemo....Erbitux combined with Irotecan.
Avatar m tn s painful when touch. do men get breast cancer? ... will the lump eventually disappear or need to be surgically removed. i appreciate any professional opinions.
Avatar m tn But that she has done many, many mammograms on women who have only one breast, some from cancers years earlier, and that breast cancer is survivable. Trust your doctors and try not to be frightened. There are a lot of therapies and options and a lot can be done.
Avatar f tn and have been operated 8 years ago in my left breast and surgeons took out the fibre ball that was there in my left breast successfully. But, since then I am having irritation in the stitiches as well as on the nipple area. Now, the irritation has increased a lot and has caused redness and lumpful skin on the area of stiches. Can someone please help me whether it is a cause of any serious problem or a symptom of Breast Cancer or something liket that ?
Avatar f tn I had a Breast Cancer in 2002 and had a Double Mastecotomy. They removed several nodes under my arm and nothing showed up. I was 40 yrs old at that time. I did not have radiation but I did go through Chemo. I was then placed on Tamoxifan for 5 yrs. I quit taking it Dec 07 and due to the fact that my ovary is still functioning I could not go on the the next medicine that I would have taken. I just found a lump in my neck which had been diagnosed as Breast Cancer recourrance.
