I too have had high eye pressure from some 12 years ago when I was 40 years old... and have had laser surgery and been on timolol etc etc etc ... and I truly sympathise with your partner. I was just wondering what would I do with my eye drops (Xalatan, Dorzolamide/Timolol and Alphagan) that I have been storing in fridge during these hot months? If power went out what would happen to the eye drops if fridge was no longer working and temp in apartment was almost in 100s? Does anyone else store their eye drops in fridge and you wonder what would happen if power outage?

I understand that they also looked into using it as a treatment for baldness but its too expensive to cover a large area like the scalp.

I picked up my new bottle of Xalatan today and I noticed the pharmacist didn't take it from the refrigerator, but took it off the shelf where she keeps all her prescriptions. I asked her if she shouldn't have had it in the refrigerator since yesterday when I called in the refill. She said one day out of the refrigerator would not harm the unopened Xalatan. When I got home I put it in my fridge.

l have been taking Xalatan for a year and there has'nt been any side effects except my eyes feeling a bit dry l have developed some floaters but my doctor says it most likley has nothing to do with the xalatan , but the past few weeks it has been starting to sting or feel a bit , sometimes l put in two drops at a time instead of one , could putting too much in cause this soreness, is there an eye drop such as a lubricant eye drop l could take that relieves the soreness.

cosopt has timolol in it so you shouldn't be taking timolol and cosopt. Roklatan works different than cosopt so they are used in combination but again NOT with timolol.

He prescibed artificial tears as well as Timolol. A month down the line and no change at all. Please can you tell me a bit more about Timolol, as it does seem to have a lot of serious heart related side effects, and what more can I do to rectify this problem? What should have been a routine simple procedure has caused a great deal of discomfort and anxiety. Thank you for your help.

That study is from 2009 and is flawed, not controlling for the fact that patients on beta blockers are in the older age groups where cataracts are more common. In any case in 2021, beta blockers have many potential side effects but cataracts is not one of them.

I personally often stop the xalatan for a few months after surgery and use another glaucoma drop instead but many doctors don't do that. Basically, if your surgeon is experienced and excellent, the chances of success are very, very high.

Over the last 3-4 weeks I have eye pain in one of the eyes, consistent dull ache. I visited my Optho and had eye dilated and checked and everything looks fine. He changed the drops to Travatan. But the pain is still present after using travatan for like 2 weeks. What else can be the cause? What else should I try to find out?

CMC is carboxy methyl cellulose...which i had used along with FML...And Sir I am not using Timolol r8 now....My docyor stopped it on the 3rd day as the pressure reduced to 15,23 from 30,30 in the first 2 days when timolol.was used...Till then I have nevr used Timolol.,..

I wonder if anyone was ever using the brand name Xalatan and then had to switch to the Greenstone generic brand (supposedly made by same company- Pfizer). If so has it worked okay? My insurance might not cover the brand name any longer, which I have been taking for about 30 years, and wants me to switch to generic. (Insurance company and pharmaceutical companies are driving me crazy with their prices, etc.

Thank you Dr MJK, I tried eliminating Trusopt and using Xalatan only and in the AM rather than PM. Did this for 2 weeks. Odd thing about this rash is it is NOT constant and seems to respond to treatment but when treatment stops, rash returns. I am going to keep a journal beginning today to see if I am doing something to create this. Dear Sir, I have retina detachments in both eyes after surgeries I had eye pressure problems but on last visit to doctor on wednesday my eye pressure were normal 14 (Right eye) and 9 (Left Eye) I am using using Cospt, Alphagan, Xalatan( Twice a day and Pilocarpine 2% six hourly.

He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. The primary reason to use timolol at evening meal time or very early evening is primarily because it doesn't work well once you are in bed and horizontal. I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes and prescribed eye drops to take 3x daily for the rest of my life.These eye drops are 1) Latanoprost and 2) Dorzolamide/timolol. A few weeks after taking these eye drops I notice a large rise in blood pressure (top and bottom numbers)..with my bottom number around 100. Can this be caused by the eye drop medicine?

How long would you say it would take pressure in eye to increase from normal to 50. I am on timoptol and xalatan at moment.
