xalatan timolol

He is 40 yrs old and obviously very concerned. he has been on travatan timolol, xalatan to name just a few but they have now put him back on xalacom. Have you any suggestions as to what to do next- l have heard from a friend that there are oral tablets available.

I was just wondering what would I do with my eye drops (Xalatan, Dorzolamide/Timolol and Alphagan) that I have been storing in fridge during these hot months? If power went out what would happen to the eye drops if fridge was no longer working and temp in apartment was almost in 100s? Does anyone else store their eye drops in fridge and you wonder what would happen if power outage?

Timolol is a beta blocker that is very inexpensive and works well for glaucoma BUT I use it last in my choice of the 4 times of glaucoma drops because of the potential for major side effects. It cannot be used in people with asthma or reactive airway disease, a history of slow heart rate (bradycardia) and can cause many problems like chronic cough, severe loss of energy, chronic nasal congestion (seems like sinus problem that won't go away), very cold extremeties, etc.

Does anyone take Xalatan? I picked up my new bottle of Xalatan today and I noticed the pharmacist didn't take it from the refrigerator, but took it off the shelf where she keeps all her prescriptions. I asked her if she shouldn't have had it in the refrigerator since yesterday when I called in the refill. She said one day out of the refrigerator would not harm the unopened Xalatan. When I got home I put it in my fridge.

l have been taking Xalatan for a year and there has'nt been any side effects except my eyes feeling a bit dry l have developed some floaters but my doctor says it most likley has nothing to do with the xalatan , but the past few weeks it has been starting to sting or feel a bit , sometimes l put in two drops at a time instead of one , could putting too much in cause this soreness, is there an eye drop such as a lubricant eye drop l could take that relieves the soreness.

cosopt has timolol in it so you shouldn't be taking timolol and cosopt. Roklatan works different than cosopt so they are used in combination but again NOT with timolol.

I HAVE BEEN TAKING COSOPT ABOUT 8AM AND 1100AM THEN I TAKE XALATAN ABOUT 9PM WORKING THE NIGHT SHIFT.MY PRESSURES WENT FROM 30S TO TEENS IS THAT OK?TO KEEP USING THOSE TIMES OR SHOULD I TAKE A COSOPT AT 8AM XALATAN AT 11AM AND ANOTHER COSOPT AT 9PM.?

Feeling no improvement I changed the doctor and visit another one...That day my eye pressure was 30,30 in both eyes...all other things were normal..Timolol was prescribed to me and 2 days after that pressure come down to 16,14....Visual Test is normal...OCT is normal...with some thinning in right eye...But eye pressure is increasing slowly...from 16,14 to 18,15 to 19,22 in 1.5 months...

I wonder if anyone was ever using the brand name Xalatan and then had to switch to the Greenstone generic brand (supposedly made by same company- Pfizer). If so has it worked okay? My insurance might not cover the brand name any longer, which I have been taking for about 30 years, and wants me to switch to generic. (Insurance company and pharmaceutical companies are driving me crazy with their prices, etc.

I MISSED A COUPLE DOSES OF COSOPT AND XALATAN THE PAST MONTH SHOULD I JUST GO ON WITH MY REGULAR SCHEDULE/

Have used Xalatan for several years with no rash. Added Trusopt 1 year ago and about 3 months ago I started with a rash on eyelids. Dermatologist treated for contact dermatitis Fluticasone Propionate cream with little result. Opthamologist treated for blepharitis with an antibiotic cream and eyelid wash, again no relief. I tried using Xalatan in AM rather than at nite, no change. Tried just Trusopt AM and early PM, no change.

He prescibed artificial tears as well as Timolol. A month down the line and no change at all. Please can you tell me a bit more about Timolol, as it does seem to have a lot of serious heart related side effects, and what more can I do to rectify this problem? What should have been a routine simple procedure has caused a great deal of discomfort and anxiety. Thank you for your help.

Hi, my doctor would like me to have SLT in one eye (has a test) to lower my IOP (Xalatan is not enough apparently)... I've red a couple of studies on SLT and some pretend that SLT is coutner indicated for Juvenile glaucoma (it could raise IOP instead of lowering it) I'm 31 years old... Any thoughts ?

Dear Sir, I have retina detachments in both eyes after surgeries I had eye pressure problems but on last visit to doctor on wednesday my eye pressure were normal 14 (Right eye) and 9 (Left Eye) I am using using Cospt, Alphagan, Xalatan( Twice a day and Pilocarpine 2% six hourly.

How much can Xalatan lower IOPs by? If it is not enough to get into safe figures, can other prostaglandins be tried? Is it realistic to hope that some of them will work for more than 2 or 3 years or is tolerance almost always built up to the drugs?

He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open. ( looks like a lazy eye) never had it before. He says my inplants look great. yesterday i saw him my right eye had raised pressure to 26.5 he took me off the steroid drops left me on the timolol -glaucoma drops.

Timolol does not work at night, probably due to the prone position for sleep. So best to take first thing in AM and with/shortly after your evening meal. Some drops work great at night like latanaprost and are given at bedtime.

I have been using Xalatan for the last 6 months for my eye pressure which was 23 and now is around 17. Over the last 3-4 weeks I have eye pain in one of the eyes, consistent dull ache. ive been on timolol for 20 years its a beta blocker never had asthmas now reading where it can cause the Bronchospasm and its really scareing me . will that cause death? never had asthma now am having it plus short of breath now and than. really scareying me i go see a asthma dr in the moring but wanted to know if anyone been where i am .

There should be significant visual recovery after a week and by one month it should be pretty well healed. My doctors do not like to use latanoprost after cataract surgery because it may increase the incidence of CME (macular edema). Dr. O.

You need to call your personal physician and relay this episode right now. Also if you have glaucoma and you are on a beta blocker eye drop like Timolol this can be a side effect . Beta Blocker eye drops cause slow pulse, low blood pressure, and passing out on standing up in some people. If you are on beta blocker you likely need to go off and use another medication.
