Both his upper and lower lid has eyelash loss. We noticed this is November and our pediatrician had no knowledge as so why. His blood came back fine. His eyes look normal no red, swelling. He recently went to a local eye doctor which he was diagnosed with blepharitis. He were instructed to wash is eyes 3xs a day and apply eye ointment at bedtime. At the very outer edge he has a few about 10 lashes. Yesterday I counted the lower lid and he is down to 3.
ve been diagnosed at 30 years old and had already vision loss and optic nerve damage... Is juvenille glaucoma detected yearlier that at 30 ?
If I may, I would like to ask another question...
My doctor told me that SLT is now a primary treatment against Glaucoma, that is why he suggested me to switch treatments... It sounds like you would first try other options ? Does this mean SLT could be potentially risky for my age ?
l have been taking Xalatan for a year and there has'nt been any side effects except my eyes feeling a bit dry l have developed some floaters but my doctor says it most likley has nothing to do with the xalatan ,
but the past few weeks it has been starting to sting or feel a bit , sometimes l put in two drops at a time instead of one , could putting too much in cause this soreness, is there an eye drop such as a lubricant eye drop l could take that relieves the soreness.
42 year old male, IOP (both eyes) 18-19 (treatment with Xalatan just begun). No field loss in left eye, very minor field loss in right eye. Strangely, visual examination of the optic nerve showed nothing to the specialist that suggested nerve damage -- the only way he could even confirm that it was was from an OCT measurement showing the right eye nerve being slightly thinner than the left (85 microns avergage left, 80 microns average right).
Over the last 3-4 weeks I have eye pain in one of the eyes, consistent dull ache. I visited my Optho and had eye dilated and checked and everything looks fine. He changed the drops to Travatan. But the pain is still present after using travatan for like 2 weeks. What else can be the cause? What else should I try to find out?
Thank you Dr MJK, I tried eliminating Trusopt and using Xalatan only and in the AM rather than PM. Did this for 2 weeks. Odd thing about this rash is it is NOT constant and seems to respond to treatment but when treatment stops, rash returns. I am going to keep a journal beginning today to see if I am doing something to create this. Also going for a 3rd opinion (have never done this) to Alexei Moraczewski, MD who I located thru this the link provided by medhelp.
side effects because the drug is running through your body (rather than staying mostly in the eye). Xalatan, and the others that are similar lower IOP more than other drug classes...you need to ask what your IOP is and see that it stays in the healthy range, since glaucoma damage can be permanent. However...you may end up with eyelashes like Brooke Shields.

I have retina detachments in both eyes after surgeries I had eye pressure problems but on last visit to doctor on wednesday my eye pressure were normal 14 (Right eye) and 9 (Left Eye) I am using using Cospt, Alphagan, Xalatan( Twice a day and Pilocarpine 2% six hourly.
The most common cause would be that you have a refractive error and need glasses for the best vision and to try and make the vision equal or near equal in both eyes. At 46 they would need to be a lineless bifocal type to work far, near and intermediate. Cataracts are not common at your age and glaucoma mainly affects peripheral vision not central.
I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. I was diagnosed with glaucoma four years ago and was immediately put on Xalatan once a day both eyes. Two years later was taken off Xalatan and put on Cosopt & Alphagan, twice a day, Lumigan once a day, both eyes. For the past two years my diopter went from -4.00 both eyes, to -9.50 left eye, -7.00 right eye, as of today, in steady progression. I can already tell I'm probably not seeing 20/40 presently and need stronger contacts.
I appreciate your help. I had not worn contacts for the past 9 months, including the past three months when the irritation started. I just began wearing them this week with the opthalmologist's okay. I will resume the Restasis. I am curious as to whether the punctal plugs could be creating the constant irritation, inflammation. I had one plug taken out and my eye immediately worsened with dry eye so I had it reinserted.
I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great
I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it,
Check your thyroid levels
That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism )
You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
