Will nail fungus grow out

Common Questions and Answers about Will nail fungus grow out

Avatar n tn It appears as though both of my big toes have a new nail growing in underneath the old nail. The old Nail is raised up quite a bit compared to the new growth, which is about 1/4". I also can see a line on both nails that appears to be where the new nail is at, and that is about 75% to the end of my toe. The new nail looks totally fine. I'm 25 years old. None of my other toenails are affected. No pain or other symptoms of any kind.
Avatar f tn Once you have treated the infection then you really should let the discoloured nail grow out, it doesnt look the nicest but lemon juice applied once or twice a week will fade some of the green/brown/yellow colour away.
Avatar n tn is it possible that water got underneath and started a fungus? well, whetever it may be, should i go to the nail place to find out or the doctor??? is it possible that it is just a discoloration of the nail/nail bed?? tell me what to do ladies!!! aaaahhh i am freaking out!
Avatar n tn The stuff is also very toxic to the body, so I wouldn't recommend using the medication systemically anyway. Nail fungus will make the nail thicker, yellow in color and rather brittle. It will also peel easily. However, I managed to kill nail fungus with a much gentler method. It takes vigilance and a lot of time to do this, but it worked for me... The first thing one has to do is file down the nail, including the nail bed, as far down as is safe to do so.
Avatar f tn You have traumatic paronychia--inflammation around the nail from biting, picking, etc. You will get better if you leave the nails alone. Get the help you need--behavior modification, artificial nails to keep from being self-conscious while the nails grow in, which takes months--whatever it takes. Medication does not help this at all, so please stop the Sporanxo, and consult a skin doctor, who knows what fungal nails are, and aren't. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn At around 5 months into the pregnancy, my nails began to grow out a complete opaque white from the root, (they did not turn white, and they grew out white). I began taking my vitamins, and the nails slowly grew back normally. At the time no renal or liver abnormalities on blood work, Dr. said it was nothing to worry about. Problem resolved. About six months later after chronic severe stress, I began to have some white lines grow again, not uniformed on several nails.
Avatar n tn (dotn know if this is related) they seem to crack very low down near the base and then it takes months for the crack which will spread across the whole nail to grow out . Once its grown out it happens all over again sometimes a second or third crack will appear before the first one has grown out, this is painful as it make the nail very weak. I only have this problem with my thumbnails my other nails are very strong and grow fine.
Avatar f tn You should see your doctor so that he can prescribe an antifungal medication for you. The infections may take some time to grow out of your nails and you may need more than one dose of antifungals.
Avatar m tn Could easily torn the nail off the bed with mild pain in some area, but grows back with same above symptoms, and have been this way for more than 5 years. Seen dermatologists, they told it will grow normal just give it time, others diagnosed for fungus, by taking part of the nail, but turned negative. How could I treat this?
Avatar n tn Should I be worried or was it most likely due to some trauma on the cuticle(Even though I don't remember ever hitting my toe on anything)? Will it grow back normally after time(I'm imaging this hole slowly moving up my toe until it reaches the end and gets cut out). I would also like to add I keep my toes clean and my toenails tidy, I don't have any history of fungus and I don't believe i had any type of fungus. Thank you in advanced, Andrew N. P.S.
Avatar n tn Usually you have to get a prescription like Lamisil to totally take care of it and then you have to wait for your toe nails to grow out. It pretty much sucks. Good luck!

Avatar n tn After a few months I developed a fungus and I removed the acrylic nails. My nail will not grow back normal. It grows thick on the sides and flat in the middle,(doesn't seem to grow in the middle at all) and is sunkin in, and it looks white in appearance, not pink like it should. Is it possible that I still had a fracture in my real nail, or the manicurist filed down too much of my natural and caused nail glue to penetrate under my nail bed? I have been the a derm.
569705 tn?1217021092 gave me pamphlets on hand eczema and the paper said that some eczema is associated with a fungus that also affects the soles of your feet. When I intially went to the dr my feet where already infected. The nails on my hands are also discolored and grow in what I can only describe has "ripples" and crumble off. I have been seeing this dr since January and am not happy with my progress.
Avatar n tn My left ring finger has ridges, that rise really high, and there are layers of nail trying to grow back. This also is on my right pinkie finger, and my right index finger at the time. My nail beds are swollen, and the cuticals are gone. No doctor I've gone to knows what it is and they prescribe stuff like bacteriban. What really works is a prescription called elicon, it has steroids in it so it works fast. It is a clear, kind of greasy skin cream. I put it on before I go to bed.
Avatar m tn cut out any part of the nail that is detached. fungus thrives underneath detached nails. tea trea oil naturally yellows the nails but the normal color should return after months of non-use. if the nail is thick, you will need to get a dermabrasion done by a podiatrist...then, start applying an antifungal cream twice daily and file the nail daily.
Avatar f tn t seem to fade, or grow out with the nail, so now I am unsure what it could be! I am terrified of the prospect of my nail falling off or something as I have a real phobia of nails (strange I know!!). I don;t want to bother my doctors with it as I am already seeing them for a number of things related to my back and an operation, and I always feel like a hypochondriac (sp?) when I see them as I put off seeing them so then have a list of things to sort!
2109342 tn?1380912575 Then, another small hole will eat through the nail. I'll end up with ridge after ridge on my nail. My thumb nail will start growing to the side, because of the weight of the high ridges. I'll need to keep the ridges filed down, level with my original nail, so I don't have so much pull on it. That "pull" hurts terribly. I feel no pain when I keep the ridges filed down. This was ongoing for a few years. Never went away, until I started my Lyme meds, a few months ago.
Avatar n tn There is another med for toe-nail fungus called Penlac. It's like a nail polish; you put it on daily and remove it once a week. It takes months, and the med costs about $100. However, it does not involve taking a medicine internally as with Lamisil.
140622 tn?1190102529 drug free..don't share any personal items, etc. I was floored. I did obtain a fungus last fall at a nail salon. It is the only thing I can think of. If I could have gotten a fungus that means their instruments were not sanitized properly and I also could have gotten a viral infection. I wish I knew about vaccinations....although there is a lot of controversy there too...but I would have done it.
Avatar n tn That just so happens to be the same smell that happens under your fingernails when you get finger nail fungus. Anyone who wears tips or acrylics knows what smell I am talking about. Anyway, the cure for this is using a number of antifungal remedies altogether while keeping the scalp as dry as possible. You can buy anti-fungal/medicated shampoos at CVS that contain zinc or sulfides which fight fungus and yeasts......take acidopholis pills......
Avatar f tn i am moving to another apartment this month so i will find out if its something in my immediate environment and ill let you guys know.
Avatar n tn Fungus doesn't look black, and certainly doesn't appear on 5 nails overnight. And if there was blood under the nail from trauma, it would take 3-4 months to grow out. My advice is to photograph it when it happens, in case it isn't there when you see the dermatologist. But it's not fungus. Best. Dr.
Avatar m tn I Just recently bought Silicon dioxide which I drink to help my nails grow faster. will applying that to the nail or underneath it help? Will inserting acid under the nail help? how can I control the attachment line? If I clean the nail to get the dirt out, the nail grows further apart again! So should I not clean it? Please help! My toes mean the world to me....
Avatar n tn ANYTHING you use will take a year. The nail has to grow out. Prescription oral pills can kill you, but they are easy - once a day for three months, then wait a year to see how they worked. Otherwise, use Vicks Vap-o-Rub every day until the nail clears up.
Avatar n tn It can take nine to 12 months to see if it has worked or not, because that is how long it takes for the nail to grow out. Even when therapy works the fungus may come back about 20%-50% of the time. ref:http://www.medicinenet.com/fungal_nails/page3.
Avatar n tn A nail fungal infection may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, it may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and develop crumbling edges. Over-the-counter antifungal nail creams and ointments are available, but they are not very effective. Oral medications may be prescribed by your doctor such as itraconazole, fluconazole or terbinafine.
Avatar n tn i think you may have the same as me and after months of research and talking to various people i have come to the conclusion that i am suffering anxiety and panic attacks. Check out the website anixiety centre.com and trust me you will find everyone of your syptoms listed. It already makes you feel 100% better to know that you are not neccesarily dying as you may have previously thought.
1415174 tn?1453246703 Did you have a toe nail bed infection in addition to the toe nail fungus? Did your toe nail fall off or did it just penetrate the nail itself? I am taking the oral Lamisil (luckily my insurance pays for it) and so far so good (check my liver enzymes in a month). I am also taking sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim for the anti bacterial. Yeah I know vinegar is a great cleaner and has many uses. We use it to clean our bathroom floors and even on pergo it doesn't seem to cause any damage.
