Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. I take metformin for the diabetes and simvastatin for the cholesterol. Recently, (just the last few days), my ears have steadily grown in "fullness". It happens mainly at night when I lay down to sleep. Most times I just fall asleep and wake up fine. But tonight, when the fullness came on, I started feeling dizzy while laying down and that started a litlle anxiety episode and here it is 3+ hours later.

428155 tn?1203688894 As I was taking simvastatin, I was in fibrillation 17% of the time; 1 month after I stopped simvastatin, the level was down to 0%. I am now experimenting with alternative cholesterol control methods: Omega 3 gels, ground linseed, charcoal. I may also try red yeast rice extract, which got my cardiologist excited, since it is supposed to be quite effective too. Red yeast rice was, in fact, used to synthetise the first statin. 907968 tn?1292622204 t know what the price differences are for smaller dose pills but assuming the worse that they are higher in price, and that the Dr wants me to take 1/2 the dose, would cutting the pills in half have the same effect as getting 20mg pills?
Avatar m tn you are right and in our group we saw that the most potent combo is alinia+peginterferon since both are immune modulators, with nucs the results are slower and on hbe negative, very little on hbe pos from boston we have a research on the most potent nuc on hbsag and it is entecavir not tenofovir, i woundered for a long time why romark wanted to start the trial of alinia+entecavir and not tenofovir in 2009 and this is the answer, too bad they never started the trial but i understand they need m
620048 tn?1358018235 I had to stop taking Lipitor last year because of the side effects of this statin - I felt like I had the flu, with aches all over. When the non-stop intestinal side effects kicked in to the point I was passing blood I waved the surrender flag. I went off the lipitor, with my cardio's knowledge, and almost immediately felt better. This was all BEFORE I had read the problems with statin drugs.
Avatar m tn I have been taking simvastatin for over 2 years to lower my cholesterol. I 've gained over 50 pounds, and I don't think the drug is doing what its supposed to do, I forgot to mention that, never before have I had "high blood-pressure" until now. I have stopped taking the drug in the hope that the pounds and the blood-pressure will return to "my" normal health state. My question is: what side affects or withdrawl symptoms should I expect?
1273125 tn?1365077526 I love being the contrarian..... I've been on a statin, Simvastatin to be precise for more than five years? This follows a protracted period of trying to reduce my cholesterol "naturally". So I dropped the fats and meats and went on a low fat diet which consisted of ...... Carbohydrates! My cholesterol went down a little to about 215, and my blood glucose began to rise dramatically. Then I tried a statin, a low dose 20mg. daily of Simvastatin.
Avatar m tn Her blood pressure spike really high which is why she takes the strong Verapamil in the morning and a softer blood pressure medication (Benicar) at night. Anyway, after the episode where I had to take her to the emergency room we got her back on her usual routine of Verapamil and Benicar.
305544 tn?1197997610 Hello everyone, I was wondering if most of you feel better at any certain time of the day. I have noticed that I feel my best in the evening, and the worst in the mornings when I am attempting to get ready for the day. I know that perhaps the warm shower may pose a problem, but I am sometimes really cold and it takes a while for my to warm up. I go to my regular Dr. on Monday. Any suggestions or important questions you think I should ask?
Avatar f tn m going to ring the docs in the morning as even if it was the flu I would have thought after ten days the achs from flu would have gone , I have never had flu where I've ached for this long . If it's the statins they will have to change them , but I've been put on so many new meds at the same time it's hard to know what's going on , all I know is I feel rubbish .
Avatar m tn Effective in June 2011 the FDA recommends limiting the dose of simvastatin to a maximum dose of 40 mg, with the exception of patients already taking simvastatin 80 mg daily for a period of greater than 12 months who have not developed any myalgia side effects. The FDA make this restriction because at the highest dose of simvastatin 80 mg daily the incidence of serious myopathy was higher than using other available statins.
Avatar n tn Actually, Lipitor is much stronger than Simvastatin and has a much higher incidence of side effects, unless I have missed some new data. According to the links I have Simvastatin is the safest statin on the market.
Avatar m tn He recommended that I get a calcium score study to measure the calcification in my aorta and carotid artery, My calcium score test was low for my age and he believed that if I have a low calcium score I should stop taking meds for cholesterol. He further stated I should take the calcium score study every two years to insure the calcium score remains low.
Avatar m tn If the evening sleeping pill (lunesta) is given too close to the diazepam there might be problems. The simvastatin and the atenolol and the cymbalta are probably not a problem....... He may well be getting too much pain medicine. Fentanyl, fentora, and opana are all strong pain meds..... depending upon metabolism and times of dose the lunesta and the diazepam may be interacting. With a history of 8 surgeries he may be on too much for pain. Doc Jeff will have real solid advice.......

Avatar f tn Vytorin is a combination of Simvastatin and Zetia so you are taking the same thing without the Zetia so you should not see any changes in how your body reacts.
