Whey protein vs soy protein

Common Questions and Answers about Whey protein vs soy protein

protein

Avatar f tn I tried googling this earlier in my pregnancy and didn't like what I found... that none are really "good" for me or baby right now. I went with veggie & fruit smoothies and used soy milk as it had higher protein content (vs other but mills). But I want to know if anyone else has found out anything else!
Avatar f tn Whey protein itself is generally good for pregnant women, however ready made protein shakes can contain additives and preservatives that aren't so good for momma and/or baby.
Avatar m tn From what I have read so far, they suggest whey protein isolate over whey protein concentrate. They say isolate has more protein but from natural factors website, it's suggested that isolate are treated with heat and are somewhat denatured. NaturalFactros also say this is why isolate is poor quality than whey protein concentrate. Now both contradict one another. But I believe concentrate is better since it is treated with less heat and other chemical process etc. What do you think?
Avatar n tn As a result of my hypothyroidism, I have developed and eating disorder over the years which I am finally working on. My nutritionist, who I do like, wants me to drink whey protein shakes (1 per day) to get my protein levels up. A friend of mine with hypo told me to STOP drinking them, and considering I am on new medication (Armour-2 grains) and gaining weight with recurring hypo symptoms (please, do not tell me to eat less, I am eating under 1300 calories a day), she may be right.
Avatar m tn I have started training for gaining muscles, but i am not sure if i should be using whey protein as i heard that if i stop working out later at some point in time, I will start putting on weight!!! Is this a side effect of taking whey protein and discontinuing its use??? Moreover, does intake of whey protein interfere with the blood tests done to check the thyroid profile? answers to these questions will be a great favor and highly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am needing to get a Whey protein without soy or isolates. I have read that you should not have soy isolates if there is a thyroid problem. Is this true? I used the whey protein for a couple of years. Can't prove that the nodule came after that. Cathy S.
Avatar f tn m on a very strict nutritional program and typically eat two (6 ounce) servings of meat (chicken breast or eye of round) and 1-2 whey protein shakes per day. Different things I've read says that meat is to be limited to 5 ounces per day and no whey. Does anyone have any information on how our protein levels are reached with these limitations? I cannot eat nuts and one can only eat so many egg whites in a day.
Avatar f tn t need to eat a lot of animal to get protein. Beans, especially soy, are very good sources of protein, as are nuts and seeds (as with the hemp mentioned above). Lots of ways to get protein.
Avatar f tn Soy products/tofu are good sources of protein, however, if you have thyroid issues, you should not eat/drink soy. Beans and legumes are also good sources of protein, as are eggs, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and whole grains. I don't eat soy, a lot of beans or legumes, so, unfortunately, I can't provide recipes, but you can do a search.
Avatar m tn if your gonna use anything, take whey protein, any kind will do. eat a lot of lean food and dont over work.
Avatar m tn Egg protein has about the same quality profile of Whey, however it is a moderate absorbing protein that the body uses over a greater amount of time. Casein protein is another dairy protein like Whey, however it is very thick and sticky and your body has a hard time breaking it down, which not only acts as a great anti-catabolic (prevents muscle breakdown) but also gives your body a good 6-8 hour slow but steady flow of protein.
Avatar f tn Weight gainers are typically higher in protein than whey protein supplements. However, the protein content comprises a significantly larger percentage of whey protein supplements than weight gainers. A lower-calorie weight gainer may contain 35 grams of protein, while a higher-calorie weight gainer may supply 100 grams of protein. However, given calorie amounts of 620 and 1,860, the protein comprises just 22.5 and 21.5 percent of the calories in these gainers.
19669595 tn?1482162708 Every time legumes like beans, Lentils and peanuts are combined with wheat, rice, or corn a complete protein is created and there are many good recipes on the internet that incorporate these into a tasty dish, where you might not otherwise like them by themselves. You might also like protein shakes from whey or soy, plus there are various protein bars that do not use animal products. Be sure to read the ingredients before buying them. Seitan is another popular protein source of vegetarians.
Avatar f tn Hi all! My hubby is wanting to get back in shape eventually after we figured out if he's cleared the hep c virus for sure. My question is, is whey protein safe if you have liver issues? I've heard someone say no but I never knew the reasoning. We put a call into his doctor but I just wanted to see if any of you might know.
10389360 tn?1410823968 I love making fruity and delicious protein shakesfor breakfast but have been reading mixed reviews about whey protein. I havent been to my OB yet, but my dr said to stick to my diet. Forgot to mention the powder. Thoughts?
1464587 tn?1307491605 What do you recommend more to avoid inflammation and flare ups, whey protein or vegan protein supplements? Are protein supplements safe to take while on prednisone and hidroxocloroquine? I feel because of my cut I'm losing more muscle than I want beacuse I don't take any protein supplements, only food rich with protein.
Avatar f tn I added whey protein to the mix today and now my heartburn is back. Whey is supposed to be super easy to digest. Has anyone else had problems with whey protein?
Avatar f tn Is that 3-9 grams of soy or 3-9 grams of protein? 20-35 grams of protein/day isn't very much; I'd have to wonder if that's enough. From my reading, I've gathered that soy can inhibit the absorption of thyroid medications. I steer clear of it, myself, though my doctor says small amounts would have little to no effect and I'm sure I consume some products that contain it, though I try not to.
19024797 tn?1471291132 can I take collagen peptides or whey protein shakes in the morning after I've waited an hour of taking my levothyroxin and cytomel? does the amino acids interfere with these medications? Also, can the cytomel cause bloat/gas issues? Thanks!
