vytorin

Avatar m tn //www.merck.com/product/usa/pi_circulars/v/vytorin/vytorin_pi.pdf EMedTV has an article that explains some statins are associated with high liver enzymes. It says increases in liver enzymes occur in 1.7 percent of people taking Vytorin. This increase appears to be more prevalent in people who are taking higher doses. It goes on to explain other causes of high liver enzymes.
Avatar f tn Vytorin is a statin that lowers LDL and raises HDL. I believe Vytorin is a combination of Zetia and Zocor. I am not sure if the Vytorin will go with the Niaspam so you will need to ask your doctor that.
Avatar m tn My current total cholesterol is actually 283 but was 338 before I lost the twenty-five pounds. My triglycerides went from 207 to 118. I have not tried Vytorin so I will talk to my doctor about that.I am taking CQ10 and multivitamins. I also take synthroid for underactive thyroid. Other than the thyroid and the cholesterol I am well. Thanks for everyones' suggestions!
1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
Avatar m tn I switched from Zocor to Vytorin around Oct 2004. Zocor no longer worked for me. Around the first of March, I began experiencing a lot of lower abdominal pain and flu-like symptoms for several days. The last day of what turned out to be the first episode, my left leg became useless. A month later, I had similar symptoms. This time, at 8:45 a.m., I checked my blood sugar and blood pressure. Both were around 180. A few days later, both returned to normal.
Avatar n tn There are all kinds of statins out there, as ed said, you have to find out which one you tolerate. I have been on them for many years as I was unable to lower my LDL with diet and exercise alone. They have worked well and I have had no side effects, but everyone is different. Most of these can be replaced by the generic Simvastatin. It's cheap and is the basis of many of the meds out there.
645800 tn?1466860955 I just was on-line to check out my new RX for cholesterol. "COLESTIPOL HCL 1GM TAB". No that isn't a typo. it is 1 gram in size. I currently take some medications that are 500mg per pill and can barely swallow them so I can't imagine what these will be like. And I'm suppose to take two of them before dinner. Of course they also say to not chew, cut or crush them.
Avatar f tn i was taking vytorin and plavix when i was told i have cll .
Avatar f tn I have been on Vytorin for a few years and my insurance company will not pay for it anymore. My doctor has switched me to Simvastatin (40mg) daily. My question is has anyone else made the switch and have they noticed any side-effects?
Avatar n tn Brand name and generic versions of statin drugs must carry these warnings on their labels, the FDA today announced. The products include: Lipitor (atorvastatin), Lescol (fluvastatin), Mevacor (lovastatin), Altoprev (lovastatin extended-release), Livalo (pitavastatin), Pravachol (pravastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin), and Zocor (simvastatin).
Avatar m tn I would not worry but I would go for a second opinion and take those tests with you.
Avatar n tn I have IBS with diarrhea. My family doctor gave me Vytorin and it caused ONE HORRIBLE bout with the diarrea. So, my question is: Should people with IBS not take Vytorin? If the answer is: No,they shouldn't,then why do you think this side effect is not listed on the pamphlet that comes with the drug.....or any where else?!
Avatar m tn I quit taking it, and within 2 weeks they were gone, despite an allergist not finding it. I tried Vytorin, had muscle and joint pain. But in the past few years, taking simvistatin and a few others, it has been a mood/anger issue. My wife complains, telling me I'm pain to live with, I argue all the time, go off at the slightest thing. And I have to admit, I can feel it too. In doing things around the house, if I run into a difficult task, I get aggravated and frustrated very quick.
Avatar f tn Do they? From what I've seen reading the PDR all the gruesome facts and figures are listed there. Problem is the average patient isn't going to understand but 20% of all the jargon. And the average doctor will prescribe it knowing it might help the problem but won't go into all the side effects. At most they will say if you develop a rash, have trouble breathing, experience chest pain, call your doctor. They're not much on details.
Avatar n tn I take meds for thyroid, hormones, BP, vytorin and 3 for depression all generic; occasional Hydrocodone and Norflex prn for headaches that seem to be weather related, plus generic alprazolam prn for anxiety prn. I take Ambien for sleep and occasionally will slip in an Advil PM if I am still having problems falling asleep. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I need some advice on how to handle this.
Avatar m tn Someone suggested that I consider inner imaging screening (EBT Hart scan). I am on Lipitor and Vytorin, I was taken off of Benicar two months ago because of the back pain and an elevated CPK 200's. Recent blood test revealed my cholesterol at 118 but my CPK at 205 and still experiencing lower back back pain. My blood pressure is 110/70 to 120/80. No prior hart problems. Do you think I should consider this image screening?
Avatar n tn Over the past 12 years or so I have taken Lipitor, Pravachol and, when 200mg total Cholesterol wasn't good enough anymore, Vytorin, which brought it down to 160. But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home.
Avatar f tn I took a clearblue digital test on the beginning of my second week of possible conception and it was negative. Tomorrow will be the beginning of my fourth week. When can I take a test again and it be a reliable answer. I ahve been told that decent levels of the HCG hormone dont show up until about 3 weeks. I am so tired of waiting, I need to know if I am so I can breathe. I also need to know if i am not so I dont have to worry about what medicines to take and what not to lift and etc.
Avatar m tn I am currently on my 4th statin med since last fall to lower my LDL. I have had some intense muscle and joint pain in the past, which is why my doctor has been changing my statin type and dosage. We're trying to find the right combo. I have a history of CAD and PAD, have had a femoral stent, and am a smoker.(59 yo male, btw). Does anyone know if I can substitute 20 mg Lipitor for my 20 mg Simvastatin, which I just ran out of?
