Common Questions and Answers about What is the medicine tricor used for

tricor

Avatar n tn I understand your concern, but after much research concerning the side effects of statins meds, PVC's are not a listed side effect. In fact, statin use has been studied in exercise induced PVC trials and have been shown to reduce the incidence of PVCs due to exercise so it would stand to reason that they also do not affect normal heart rhythm. Having said that, your PVCs may be anxiety related to statin use.
Avatar n tn My triglycerides used to be elevated, not that high, but over normal. I beleive it was close to 200. What lowered mine was taking fish oil liquid. The "Carlson" Fish oil is the best and it is the ONLY thing that lowers it. I take it twice a day, morning and night, a tablespoon, I would not be without it. My triglycerides are now 72. A person should start noticing a difference in about 3 to 6 months. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Why not ask your doctor for a prescription for a statin medicine? You can get the drug for $4.00 a month or less, and it's much less invasive than Niaspan, in my opinion. I tried Niaspan years ago, it wasn't effective, and I would get a huge 'blushing' feeling, my face would flush and I would be miserable. Statin drugs are very safe and in my opinion, very effective.
Avatar f tn My husband resisted his suggestion of doing a cath, so he was given a prescription for Tricor 145mg. The doctor drew a diagram of the procedure that was used and in the area where there is apparently blockage a T was used to do 2 bypasses. The cardiologist seemed concerned that a stent may be difficult or impossible to place there. My questions are: 1: How can blockage occur so soon after surgery and should we expect more of the same in the near future?
Avatar m tn Tricor is a Fenofibrate which helps control cholesterol and TGLS by blocking their abosorbtion into your system through your intestinal tract. There is an extremely and I mean EXTREMELY small chance that Tricor can cause Diabetes, but it is extremely rare. How high was you fasting blood sugar level? What does your doctor say? Let us know so we can hellp provide better help.
237039 tn?1264258057 t think there would be any correlation between taking the Tricor and vasospams. Is it just coincidence and the fact that they have subsided is because of my diet and exercise? Or is it possible that there is somthing about the Tricor that has stopped them? Anyone know?

822804 tn?1298226302 i did fast for the bloodwork,I am not taking statin,i actually have no idea even what it is.The only thing I am taking is fish oil.Thank you so much,I will keep Tricor in my head for my next doctors visit!!
Avatar n tn Its particularly worse combined with tricor. The pain actually feels like its in my bones at the joints. I have taken tricor for almost 20 years and I just started having this problem about 6-8 months ago. The pain in the morning makes me feel like I am 100 and my body is betraying me! This is what I noticed that changed. I initially started off on the brand name fenofibrate, Tricor - had no problems. Then they added Crestor(name brand) because that was the only people that made it.
252327 tn?1250183976 Last night I looked up the side effects of tricor ( I started them mid December) by Christmas the problems started. Seems like the most common side effects are diffuculty breathing , shortness of breath and palputations. Most Hashimoto patients have high cholsetrol, due to the disease, not by what your eating. and I hope this post helps anyone that happens to be taking both. Me myself, I am stopping the Tricor today.
212161 tn?1599427282 jon thank you so much for info, my tris are 562 so i hope it drops them more than 50 lol i will be taking liptor with it to. glad to hear no side affects with you i hoping for the same . Merry Christmas to you .
Avatar m tn "Links are not allowed or I would post a few" I don't think there's a problem with internet protocols to actually post links, this is widely accepted because people generally appreciate the 'hits'. What is illegal, is to take cuts of texts from internet sites and paste them here. It still goes on with copyrighted material, I have copied and pasted several bits of posts into google and seen immediately, word for word, the web site it has been 'stolen' from.
758444 tn?1234028617 I would love to find a non addictive form of medication for anxiety. To me they are all the one. Only some are longer lasting. Like Klonopin. It is used for more lasting anxiety sufferers. Not a quick fix for an anxiety attack. But if you ever have to come off it, well, it is the same old problem. Weaning and withdrawls. Just like every other form of medication. Just a case of which one can be used, without losing tolerance, for the longest amount of time. Klonopin wins that race.
Avatar f tn My brother and I both have this and it is totally under control with meds for both of us. My triglycerides were over 2100 before I started taking Tricor. My brother takes Tricor and Lovastatin. Both of us now have normal readings.
Avatar m tn So before checking the date, I took one dose of chloraseptic spray that expired eight years ago. It didn't really work at all, but is that the only problem I face? Could there be any problems that arise from taking that type of medicine that long after its date? Thanks.
Avatar n tn And that comes from the high levels of triglycerides in the blood. That is the fat that causes the plaque to form. The Niacin is a good supplement in treating this.
Avatar f tn I did even more research and figured out that I was prescribed Tricor about a month and 1/2 ago. I looked up Tricor's side effects and it seems that there can be a GERD type reaction and one commenter even said they had to go to the ER with chest pains. I stopped taking the Tricor and my GERD symptoms have much improved. I began generic prilosec and it didn't seem to help me. But stopping the Tricor has. My breathing has improved.
4185349 tn?1352014736 Im coming down with a cough/cold is there any medicine that is safe or medice to avoid?
Avatar f tn What antihistamines have you used? It wasn't an antihistamine with a decongestant or Benadryl was it? Singulair can be used for Allergic Rhinitis like you have, however, this is usually prescribed for someone with Asthma issues secondary to Allergic Rhinitis. What nasal steroid are you using? Most of them can be used long term.
745393 tn?1345077196 I have been on lovaza (omega 3,and 6 ) for the pass five months, but as you can see it has not helped very much. Heart doctor says I have taken the limit. Avatar m tn but i fear that switching over of the present medicine to new medicine of new psych may creat lot of anxiety to me again. or my new psych should slowly taper off old medicine? because i have also gone through switching over.new doctor/new medicine means everything new?
