Common Questions and Answers about What is the medication tricor used for

tricor

Avatar f tn My husband resisted his suggestion of doing a cath, so he was given a prescription for Tricor 145mg. The doctor drew a diagram of the procedure that was used and in the area where there is apparently blockage a T was used to do 2 bypasses. The cardiologist seemed concerned that a stent may be difficult or impossible to place there. My questions are: 1: How can blockage occur so soon after surgery and should we expect more of the same in the near future?
782988 tn?1242685985 Can you add Tricor That is on of my meds for Cholesterol
Avatar n tn Well, I stoped taking my Tricor and Zocor for a few months and my heart palps were gone. The problem is that my cholesterol numbers went back up. I started back on the statins and low and behold the palps returned. Anyone that has PVC's and PAC's knows how much of a nuisance they can be both physically and emotionally. Is there any other drug that is not in the same class as statins that works on cholesterol. I already eat oatmeal, take fish oil, etc. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Its particularly worse combined with tricor. The pain actually feels like its in my bones at the joints. I have taken tricor for almost 20 years and I just started having this problem about 6-8 months ago. The pain in the morning makes me feel like I am 100 and my body is betraying me! This is what I noticed that changed. I initially started off on the brand name fenofibrate, Tricor - had no problems. Then they added Crestor(name brand) because that was the only people that made it.
Avatar m tn Tricor is a Fenofibrate which helps control cholesterol and TGLS by blocking their abosorbtion into your system through your intestinal tract. There is an extremely and I mean EXTREMELY small chance that Tricor can cause Diabetes, but it is extremely rare. How high was you fasting blood sugar level? What does your doctor say? Let us know so we can hellp provide better help.
237039 tn?1264258057 t think there would be any correlation between taking the Tricor and vasospams. Is it just coincidence and the fact that they have subsided is because of my diet and exercise? Or is it possible that there is somthing about the Tricor that has stopped them? Anyone know?
Avatar n tn My triglycerides used to be elevated, not that high, but over normal. I beleive it was close to 200. What lowered mine was taking fish oil liquid. The "Carlson" Fish oil is the best and it is the ONLY thing that lowers it. I take it twice a day, morning and night, a tablespoon, I would not be without it. My triglycerides are now 72. A person should start noticing a difference in about 3 to 6 months. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn This diagnosis was backed up by an Angiogram, which showed a 80-90% blockage in the Right Coronary Artery (RCA). The vessel is non-dominant, but you needn't be concerned about that, it's just how the vessels are laid out. Some are left dominant, some right dominant and others co-dominant. BPH can be read about here... Benign prostatic hyperplasia http://en.wikipedia.
822804 tn?1298226302 i did fast for the bloodwork,I am not taking statin,i actually have no idea even what it is.The only thing I am taking is fish oil.Thank you so much,I will keep Tricor in my head for my next doctors visit!!
252327 tn?1250183976 Last night I looked up the side effects of tricor ( I started them mid December) by Christmas the problems started. Seems like the most common side effects are diffuculty breathing , shortness of breath and palputations. Most Hashimoto patients have high cholsetrol, due to the disease, not by what your eating. and I hope this post helps anyone that happens to be taking both. Me myself, I am stopping the Tricor today.
Avatar f tn When you can't sleep from the withdrawals, I've been told that Trazadone is a good choice for sleep because it isn't a controlled substance, etc. What is the story with this medication?
212161 tn?1599427282 jon thank you so much for info, my tris are 562 so i hope it drops them more than 50 lol i will be taking liptor with it to. glad to hear no side affects with you i hoping for the same . Merry Christmas to you .
Avatar n tn I am a type 2 diabetic and follow closely all comments related to the subject. However, I see figures being quoted which I don't understand. In her post sai259, to which you responded, mentions figures of 150 and 200. My glucometer is in mmol/L and the last reading was in the normal range and was 7.8. Also, the cholesterol readings I get from my doctor are all below 10. What scale is being used in sai259's case and is there a converter program I could use?
Avatar f tn My brother and I both have this and it is totally under control with meds for both of us. My triglycerides were over 2100 before I started taking Tricor. My brother takes Tricor and Lovastatin. Both of us now have normal readings.
Avatar n tn Why not ask your doctor for a prescription for a statin medicine? You can get the drug for $4.00 a month or less, and it's much less invasive than Niaspan, in my opinion. I tried Niaspan years ago, it wasn't effective, and I would get a huge 'blushing' feeling, my face would flush and I would be miserable. Statin drugs are very safe and in my opinion, very effective.
Avatar f tn I did even more research and figured out that I was prescribed Tricor about a month and 1/2 ago. I looked up Tricor's side effects and it seems that there can be a GERD type reaction and one commenter even said they had to go to the ER with chest pains. I stopped taking the Tricor and my GERD symptoms have much improved. I began generic prilosec and it didn't seem to help me. But stopping the Tricor has. My breathing has improved.
215752 tn?1278004771 Whatever you feel best at. The range is wide, but you are at the hypo side now. Could you feel the difference in the past? The longer you've had this the more you can tell the difference. Ask for copies of the bloodwork from now on to make notes on. Also, do you get free T4 and free T4 tested (need these), the actual thyroid hormones? TSH is a messenger hormone from the pituitary telling the thyroid what to do, not the best to adjust meds by.
745393 tn?1345077196 I have been on lovaza (omega 3,and 6 ) for the pass five months, but as you can see it has not helped very much. Heart doctor says I have taken the limit. All of these choles meds causes me to ache in my muscles very very bad, and dr. says this could be a serious situation. I need to know from someone please what can I take now ?. I need very bad to be on some med. I've had triple bypass in 2006 and 1 stent in 2008. I am desperate.
Avatar f tn 1. If the Nuvaring was what was elevating my triglycerides is it possible they will go back to normal and how long after being off them should there start to be a difference? 2. Is it possible that if the Birth Control was causing elavation in my triglycerides could it also be causing my Diabetes?
