Avatar n tn Is it best to take actos in the morning or evening? I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.
Avatar m tn I have diabetes ll. My doctor has given me Actos 30 mg. I have been hearing a lot about this drug and none of it's good, saying long term use causes bladder cancer. My last A1c was 6.1 although now due for another one. I'm not sure the risk involved with this drug is worth the benefits as my sugar is not out of control and my numbers are always under 175. Is Actos a safe drug to use??
489891 tn?1209058786 Ok I am a some what new diabetic released from the hospital 10-20-07 and because of diet, weight, and stress. I was working way to many hours and eating whenever I could. Avatar m tn The flip side of the coin is when the medication is balancing your glucose and which one is doing the morning balancing act. When I change dose, time, or add a medication and/or supplement I contact my pharmacist. She knows more about medication and supplement interactions than my doc. He treats, writes the RX, she dispenses and explains it use.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
1236243 tn?1277680851 m taking diabetes classes with a certified diabetic instructor who is also an RN. One man in the class is taking Actos. She told him that he should be getting off of it immediately and suggested he call his doctor that day and schedule an appointment to discuss alternatives to Actos. It does sound like it is not a good thing to be on.
Avatar n tn So your taking insulin (Knowing what kind of insulin is just as important as knowing a how much) AND Actos? Usually when a person goes on Insulin they drop the actos.
Avatar n tn The medicines she takes cause her chest pain, shortness of breath, and make her dizzy. Her blood pressure checks out ok, but is the medicine for the blood pressure causing this pain. Some days she is ok and other days the pain comes in the morning and lasts all day. Of all the medecines she takes which is most likely the culprit. Is there any alternatives.
Avatar f tn When you can't sleep from the withdrawals, I've been told that Trazadone is a good choice for sleep because it isn't a controlled substance, etc. What is the story with this medication?
Avatar f tn But things do not stabilize overnight. Check into the Actos thing and be patient for the stabilizing vision if that is not the answer.
Avatar n tn There are many causes for leg pain, one being diabetes. http://arthritis.about.com/od/legpain/Leg_Pain_Causes_Symptoms_Diagnosis_Treatment_Pain_Relief.htm A doctors physical exam is necessary to rule out muscle, joint, or nerve damage.
Avatar f tn Ask for Actos, I took it for my tyoe II. There are other medications too, talk to your doctor.
1580703 tn?1651904887 is Resveratrol a possible risky treatment for fatty liver+hemangioma? it is really serious if I have just 1-2 standard drinks I lose my hearing I'm handicapped and speech sounds like a blur and I am nauseous and vomit. Avatar f tn I am also active like you, I play basketball, and I am in the gym 4-5 a week for about an hour. My RE told me I am too "fat" to get prego. But I have lost about 175 in three years..and then stopped losing weight. I started to take Metformin to help with my PCOS and I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I know how you feel. Has your doc put you on any medication to help with PCOS symptoms? Metformin is a medication for people with type 2 diabetes.
923105 tn?1341827649 My concern is that I know very little about Diabetes, but my G I has prescribed me Lactulose for chronic constipation, - in all fairnesss he has tried me on several meds. with no results. My sugar readings went quite high, apprix 180, and have taken 24 hours to come down (btw nothing real major happened) So basically my question is should I keep on taking 'L' or not???? I know so very little about Diabetes, so any advice would be very welcome.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year prior to HCV. I've used metformin, glipizide and actos (pioglitizone) for eight years now for DM2 management; including during both HCV treatments. I was eventually successful with interferon therapy, for what it's worth. I can't comment on the victoza; I have no personal experience with it. Reducing insulin resistance might be critical to succesful inteferon-based therapy as well.
Avatar f tn I am confused what is going on. I have read where sometimes the GERD isnt really too much acid but in fact too less acid and someone recommended trying 1 TBSP of apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces water 3-4 times a day. What could be the cause of the bloated feeling and something in my throat? Nothing significant is showing up in labs or scans. I am so tired of feeling crappy. Thanks!!
215752 tn?1278004771 Whatever you feel best at. The range is wide, but you are at the hypo side now. Could you feel the difference in the past? The longer you've had this the more you can tell the difference. Ask for copies of the bloodwork from now on to make notes on. Also, do you get free T4 and free T4 tested (need these), the actual thyroid hormones? TSH is a messenger hormone from the pituitary telling the thyroid what to do, not the best to adjust meds by.
Avatar n tn One doctor told me that maybe I need to see a shrink. He asked if I was depressed. The only thing depressing me is that no one knows what is wrong with me, including me! Can someone help me, please! I don't even know which direction to turn for help anymore. The great hospitals want to know where to direct my call. I have no idea. So right now, I am not under a doctor's care because all of the doctors have thrown up their hands. HELP!
