Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.

I hate the side effects but it seems to be working for the most part. I understand it is mainly used for Parkinson's diasease and sometimes RLS. Does anyone take this for their RLS? If so how much? Supossedly it helps increase Dopmine levels which PLMD and Parkinson disorders have in common.I'm not sure if RLS is caused by low Dopamine or not. I feel like YUCK. I have had a dry, horse throat all winter & I think it may be a side effect.

I was on mirapex for 3 years, my miracle drug, for my RLS during that period I develop a gambling addiction. I find out that this is a side of the mirapex.For the sake of my self and the loss od my my family I choose to get off of it.I It took me 2 trys to get off of them and have suceeded. I no long have the urge to gamble. ,Now I am on simumet for my RLS and it does not work like the mirapex , I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go to sleep.

Actually my husband does take ADs (Paxil) but that doesn't make him manic, it was the Mirapex that made him manic, which is not an AD but is rather being used off label to treat fibromyalgia. The ADs themselves don't make him manic. Hope that clarifies things a little bit more!

The klonopin may sound good but I would like to add that one of the ladies in my bible study has been trying for several months to ween off klonopin. She is having horrible sweats and anxiety with the withdrawal. Please try some other method before you try a addicting substance. Have you tried the bar of soap under the sheets? I will ask about the wal-mart commercial product for my friend who started on the klonopin for RLS also.

It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?

I wish I could find that article--well one thing I did see was how frightening the medication is that is used to treat RLS. I hope you get well soon.

Ask your doctor about mirapex. It's a parkinsons drug that has done wonders for me.

The reason you're getting sores and all that stuff is because of "dry mouth," which is a side effect of several of your medicines, especially the pain killers Darvon and Vicodin. Suck on sugar-free candy drops, drink extra water or rinse your mouth, eat juicy fruits like watermelon and peaches, to help counteract that.

How long does it take to be off of the drug before it goes away? Another accompanying symptom I have is lightheadedness 24/7. It gets worse when I go from sitting to standing. I've done some research into what could be causing the ridgidity and so far from what I've gathered Baclofen could be an effective treatment option to treat the ridgidiy if symptoms continue, but I honestly have no idea.

So meds that work to increase dopamine levels have been helpful as well- meds like the muscle relaxer, Baclofen, the antidepressant Wellbutrin, and the Parkinson drug Mirapex, which is also good for Restless Legs Syndrome which is a fibro symptom. Alternative treatments and treating underlying causes of fibro, such as sleep apnea and thyroid disease have proven helpful as well.

The drug has always worked well for the rls but now I am at the upper limit and the drug is loosing its effectiveness. I had tried all the usual medications for rls before taking the Ultram. I have tried requip, mirapex, sinamet, gabapentin, lyrica and a host of others. Ultram was the only one that worked well. For three and a half years I was free of the rls syptoms.

Anyway I hope thsi helps abit. Mirapex is actually a Parkensons Disease drug but tests have found it works for RLS.

and are you upping the Mirapex? My Mother has been on it for two years , after suffering for decades, its the wonder drug.. There are a couple of members who have both MS and RLS ..Heather and I think Mcbcon... Heather can tell you much about the subject, she has tons of info , Did you say somewhere that you are dizzy and off balance ? ( or was that me :) ) I can't remember where I read that or who , so please forgive if it wasn't you.

Lyrica stops some of the electrical signals from the brain to the nerves. Lyrica is also a non narcotic and non benzo. It is used for fibromialga and also to reduce seizures. RLS is a nerve problem not a muscular problem.

I, too, am so sorry to hear of your mother's suffering. I know as her child, you feel helpless and just want to get your mother relief. Lulu's post is right on. It's time for the palliative care that a hospice center could give her. This doesn't mean that you are sending her there to die. This just means that these people are better able to help get a grip on her pain. They are not afraid to try every drug possible to relief your mother's pain.

m still outgoing, and fun-loving. Does the real me come out at home? Can someone explain what depression is and what are the classic symptoms? Maybe I'm depressed and didn't even know it. Every weekend, I try to get out and go with friends or family but I always end up canceling or just not showing up. I've never thought about my actions before I joined this community?

I came across some soma and really do not know what it is for. is it a narcotic? is it addictive?

t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.

Thank you for responding. I would really like to track the RLS and the Mirapex in the Pain Tracker if that is at all possible. I'm hoping to have one place to chart all my various symptoms and treatments for submission to my physician for inclusion in my medical record files.
