Common Questions and Answers about What is the drug benicar used for

benicar

Avatar f tn I was told by a notable researcher that 90% of the marshall protocol patients would not recover since it did not address the coinfections/viruses present. I was on the protocol and JackieCalifornia and I discussed it. That is why I am using a LLMD with a newer approach. My MP Dr did not even consider testing me for "other" infections. But Ree is correct that the Benicar helps the effacy of the antibiotics.
Avatar n tn My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time. What could be causing this other than the fact that I just (3 weeks ago) had open heart surgery. I feel that it's one or a combination of medications causing this??? Does anyone else have side effects from this combination of drugs???
Avatar f tn I have tried many BP medications with some bad results. Thought we finally found one that worked. The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away.
Avatar n tn I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.
Avatar n tn and the other protocol is a research protocol that uses low dose antibiotics along with Benicar... it is called the Marshall Protocol.
Avatar f tn Did your diet or exercise regimen change when you started taking this drug? This class of drugs is famous for making exercise more difficult, and also slows down the metabolism which means less calories are burned, etc. I had a rather impressive weight gain after I started taking a beta blocker and my cholesterol level increased, but apparently after my body got used to it, the weight went off and the cholesterol level was reduced.
Avatar m tn My resting pulse rate was between 50 and 60, now with benicar is above 70. My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
Avatar f tn t know if I spelled it right) she is on this med for some time now and has big time side effects as in extreme fatigue and caugh. The fatigue is so bad that its hard for her to function. Her doctor REFUSES to switch her to anothr BP med, her doctor says "no way are these side effects from that med, this is the best BP med on the market and I will NOT switch you".
478554 tn?1208034407 You are correct, Benicar is an expensive drug, I am on 40 mg per day with 12.5 of HCT (Benicar HCT). Since there is no generic, my insurance also tries to block it's use, but they have to give it to you if your doctor provides the additional documentation, but it won't help the price. TGL's are easy to control, usually cutting back on empty carbs like those found in breads, pastas, sugars and processed foods will have a huge impact.
1260320 tn?1270394906 I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar m tn Welcome and thanks for your question. A couple of thoughts, the first being that anytime you have chest pain, pressure or discomfort you need to get that checked out, it's not worth the risk. About your blood pressure, it is very unlikely that you would feel symptoms from a BP of 150/100, while high it normally takes a BP in the 200/120 range to really feel the symptoms. What you describe sounds like it could be the side effects of your meds.
Avatar n tn Since this combination was used, my blood pressure as been borderline to high all the time (ranging from 130s/70 to 170s/90). I also have had frequent headaches, fatigue, and some chest discomfort (heaviness, not acute pain). Nevertheless, no a-fib. I realize both medications are intended to lower blood pressure in addition to controlling the rhythm. I have normal heart structure and no history of heart attack. My blood pressure was 120s/60s on sotalol and Benicar.
Avatar m tn I am taking Losartan, which is the generic of Cozaar. Like Benicar (which is not available in generic yet, I believe) it is an angiotensin II inhibitor. There are usually very few side effects associated with these drugs, but their action on the biochemistry of the body is complex, so anything is possible. I have Hashimoto's disease, which means I am HYPOthyroid. Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily.
Avatar m tn Before I try a prescription med that others use for the excessive sweating problem, I would like to rule out current meds. Does anyone with this problem take Benicar or Lexapro or Omeprazole?.
Avatar m tn i went too take my meds and took the wrong stuff, im on benicar 40/25 my wife is on benicar 20 make along srory short ive took 120mg of benicar by mistake should i be worried
Avatar m tn I've found the best person to ask about medication side effects is a pharmacist. When I was having a "little" trouble with Verapamil, I asked the pharmacist to see if what I was feeling was within the normal range of side effects. He told me to go to the hospital. Oh, OK. I went, they took me off the med. Apparently you have asthma or some breathing problems already since you are taking Xopenex and Symbicort.
Avatar m tn t personally notice any change in my anxiety. Maybe the doctor could change your medicine. There is alot out there for high blood pressure. Hope you can get to the bottom of things.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?
Avatar m tn At this point my doctor switched me to HCTZ and took me off the lisinopril, the erectile problems improved for a few days and then went back to the same I have NO MORNING ERECTIONS. Then I had a panic attack and went to the ER my bp was too high so they put me on two more meds "Losartan 100 and Toprol XL" Im fairly sure i had ED before these meds but I only remember complaining about it after the two new meds were added on.
Avatar f tn I think this is a very confusing subject. As people are probably very aware, there are a lot of controversies and disagreement when it comes to Lyme. As a Lyme patient myself, I feel very caught in the middle. I've read plenty of peer-reviewed papers, especially from Allen Steere and Leonard Sigal, condemning long-term antibiotic treatment as futile and potentially dangerous. Then of course the folks from ILADS have a different point of view.
Avatar n tn Mike, He just means you can feel them, Many people have them and never know its going on. The doctor is also right about the Benicar, I've been taking 40mg a day for a few years, never affected me. Bottom line, if your echo is normal and your heart is normal structurally, these are normally not dangerous, but they sure can be annoying though!
Avatar f tn I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.
Avatar n tn My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
Avatar n tn I came across some soma and really do not know what it is for. is it a narcotic? is it addictive?
Avatar f tn t even think straight nor walk straight for that matter. My vision is blurry when pressure is high accompanied w/ CP and upper back/arm pain. I'm at my wits end .My cardi has ordered a Renal MRA. Am I going in the right direction and do you think I should be flying under these conditions. onederful This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/647761'>uncontrol high blood pressure</a>.
