You could take a beta blocker, they will lower your HP, partly by lowering your heart rate but they may make you feel excessively fatigued.
Welcome and thanks for your question. A couple of thoughts, the first being that anytime you have chest pain, pressure or discomfort you need to get that checked out, it's not worth the risk.
About your blood pressure, it is very unlikely that you would feel symptoms from a BP of 150/100, while high it normally takes a BP in the 200/120 range to really feel the symptoms. What you describe sounds like it could be the side effects of your meds.
I've been on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 for 3 years, it's the only BP med I've been on and it has worked wonders with no side effects. My BP is down to 110/70 from 150/90 and as I said, I have had absolutely no side effects to date. For me, it's a great med, but maybe not for you. There are many to choose from, just keep working with your doctor to find the one that works best for your situation.
My doctor put me on Lisinopril( 10 Mlg) I have taken this med for one week and my BP is still high. I am 78 and maintain a good weight and eat well and exercise regularly. Any suggestions?

I could tell that my bp was still high and I went to another doctor who prescribed me Benicar for the bp. The headaches became too much to bear again. The closest definition I have found is "primary cough headache", however I am not in the norm of risk factor group.

t think your BP meds would do this. I too had HP, around 150/90 and started taking Benicar HCt 40/12.5, pretty much the same med you are on. My BP now runs 110/70, in fact it dropped almost immediately upon starting the meds with no side effects. Your BP has dropped considerably, but at 130 systolic you are still in the pre-hypertensive range and not yet down to a normal rate of 120/80 so I would not think your BP is doing this to you.
t know if I spelled it right) she is on this med for some time now and has big time side effects as in extreme fatigue and caugh. The fatigue is so bad that its hard for her to function. Her doctor REFUSES to switch her to anothr BP med, her doctor says "no way are these side effects from that med, this is the best BP med on the market and I will NOT switch you".
All of my food goes inside that circle, of about 6-7 inches. My plate is divided into fifths, and 3/5 is vegetables, 1/5 is meat and the other 1/5 is a starch(potatoe, pasta, ect.) I never pile my food higher than 3/4 of an inch, and my meat is always about the size of a deck of cards.
If you practice the above long enough, you will lose weight, and it will be slow and healthy.

I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.

In fact, all the other test results from the blood work, x-rays, and stress test were all negative. I have just begun this journey. There is a lot to learn and it is overwhelming. At times I just shut down. I guess I am altimately looking for someone to tell me it will be all right. But I know that is not going to happen.
I am taking Losartan, which is the generic of Cozaar. Like Benicar (which is not available in generic yet, I believe) it is an angiotensin II inhibitor.
There are usually very few side effects associated with these drugs, but their action on the biochemistry of the body is complex, so anything is possible.

My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time. What could be causing this other than the fact that I just (3 weeks ago) had open heart surgery. I feel that it's one or a combination of medications causing this??? Does anyone else have side effects from this combination of drugs???
I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
