I went back to cardio dr the next day and now he wants me to take Benicar, Norvasc and a small dose of the beta blocker plus my anxiety meds...all this for someone who he says has a normal heart? I am so confused. Also, I got a copy of all my records because I am getting a second opinion....and it reads that there is a trace mitral regurgitation, mild tricuspid regurgitation and the right ventricular systolic pressure is mildly elevated at 32.
I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Although I am not cynical when it comes to the medical profession, I know there are drugs of preference from doctor to doctor. I was on Benicar HCT for 4 years before moving and finding a new doctor. One of the first things he did was pull me off Benicar and put me on Lisinopril, a beta blocker. I had a terrible reaction to this drug, I couldn't workout and my heart rate stayed at 50 - 55 BPM.
You have symptomatic PVC that need to be treated with a medication called a beta blocker. If that doesn't help you could have an ablation procedure where we target and burn the origin of the PVC. The PVC's aren't typically a sign of a heart attack. Benicar is not causing your PVC's. They are probably related to you blood pressure and the effect that it has on your heart muscle.
I am going in for gallbladder removal in 4 days and no one has told me to stop taking Benicar HCT beforehand. I'm on a 20/12.5 dose once daily, so it's pretty low, but won't it possibly cause problems with the anaesthesia/barbituates or if they have to give me morphine afterwards (not likely, but possible)?
While PVC is not one of my problem, I will offer my opinion that a BP medication, likely a beta blocker, will not cause PVC. I also think it will not do much to reduce them. I think you should talk to you doctor about ant-arrhythmic drugs such as Propafenone and Rythmol as a possible aid in managing your PVC.
Sounds like you tried most classes of high BP meds. Benicar is an ARB, which I take, that works by helping your arteries stay more flexible to help absorb each beat. Lisinopril is a beta blocker which works by slowing your heart rate. It's odd that both of these causes a symptom like sinus issues as each works differently. Hydrochlorothiazide is just a water pill that lowers BP by removing fluid from your system which will lower BP.
I have tried many BP medications with some bad results. Thought we finally found one that worked. The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away.
Stopped taking Dyazide a few days ago, headache eased the next day, and was gone by the 2nd day without meds. She started taking Benicar HCT a over a year ago. From the start she felt rotten every day. Said she felt like she had to "make my legs" walk - always felt tired. Also had soreness in between her shoulder blades. Dr. said it was muscle soreness from exercise. She stopped taking Benicar HCT a month ago and felt great the following day.
pressure was a little high 150/90 so increased bp medicine to benicar 40mgs with hct of 12.5. pressure came down to 115/75 - thought it was reaction to medicine - stopped it for a week - and symptoms stayed. thought it was stress - started exercising 30 minutes a day - running - some help but symptoms come back - at times when look down get dizzy or lie in bed. have been playing alot of golf and swinging differently - but no back pain - some neck stiffness from new swing.
I am on Benicar HCT 40/20 mg as well, it is a great drug and has almost no side effects. You make it sound like you may be having some anxiety attacks as a result of your experience. One of the things you get with anxiety attacks is a release of adrenaline which can cause flushing on the face, back and upper torso, it's very common and most likely causing your issue.
Try to stay calm and mention the anxiety to your doctor as they can treat that with meds as well.
m not a doctor, but have a health background and do a lot of reading (medical hournals my husband, who is a doctor, receives.) But 6 months for a medication to stay in your system and not be completedly cleared seems awfully long.
I've also not heard of long-term vomiting from Amiodorone (maybe someone else on the form has.) What other medications is she taking right now?
What does her cardiologist or primary care physician say about this vomiting?
I don't think your BP meds would do this. I too had HP, around 150/90 and started taking Benicar HCt 40/12.5, pretty much the same med you are on. My BP now runs 110/70, in fact it dropped almost immediately upon starting the meds with no side effects. Your BP has dropped considerably, but at 130 systolic you are still in the pre-hypertensive range and not yet down to a normal rate of 120/80 so I would not think your BP is doing this to you.
I take the same ACE inhibitor for hpb. I was concerned my bp was too high and probably needed another adjustment to the dosage. I was told to wait 2 more weeks to evaluate...it appears the dosage is all right but there are wide variations!! I home monitor a few times a day, but can't find a consistency for a specific time interval, etc. The range can be 90/60 to 149/80.
