Amoxicillin is a penicillin type of antibiotic and Avelox is a quinilone. Different mechanisms of action but both antiobitics used to treat bacterial infections. Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
I never in my life had a panic attack until I taken the antibiotic Bactrim made me have one thought i was dieing. Avelox did the same but I controled it until it went away. I am 22 and in good health.
Went to urgent care and they changed the antibiotic to Avelox and also gave me steroids. I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic?
I too had problems with Avelox. I don't even want to type it! lol... some people on another site recommened calcium and magnesium. I happened to be taking Milk Thistle and may have spared my liver from damage since it is an amazing healer of the liver. Spirulina is great for energy also Brewer's Yeast and Bee Pollen(make sure you're not allergic to it before you take it. andrew lessman's vitamins also seem to be great.
Again I was given an antibiotic shot and this time, Levaquin and Sulfamethoxazole. I have been on this for 3 days now. The fatigue and fever are still there, the tightness in my chest is gone. I am otherwise, a healthy 46 year old female. I travel alot for business so I am in planes and hotels alot.

I went to see the doctor on Tuesday and he told me that it will pass by in a day and its been five days. He said it was swollen but did not tell me how or what caused the swelling. And the doctor gave me medicine for "swollen throat" but not seeing any improvements. Im getting worried because im an athlete and this problem is preventing me from practicing with my team. I also tried to drink tea but that only made my asthma worse and i could hardly breathe.
d certainly mention the now-gone symptoms to the doc if they come back, explain about the good effect you had from a course of Avelox, and see what the doc says. There are a bunch of low-lying infections that could be what you had/have, and only a doc can tell for sure. If things don't sort out for you, then you might consider looking into Lyme further, and on that point we here might be able to give you some pointers.
Then next time the doctor prescribes her on another type of antibiotic and then same thing happens, she is okay the first time she has to take it and usually the second but around the second or third time over a course of 3 to 5 years, she gets the urticaria again after taking the same antibiotic that she used for 3 or more years. Then the same pattern happens with other antibiotics that she has to take for a UTI etc.
But afterward had to take some meds to bring back the good bugs in my digestive system as the antibiotic killed off even the good bacteria.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or if I could get some insight as to what might be going on here. I have been frequently prescribed antibiotics (no penicilin or sulfa as I have been allergic since a child) over the past two years for having several bouts of sinus infections, throat infections and bronchitis symptoms.
t find other people who have overcome this issue or information about this side effect beside the fact that it exists. Is it possible that the avelox triggered some kind of autoimmune disorder that is causing my body to attack my tendons? how would I get it diagnosed? I lost my health insurance and can't afford MRIs or expensive dr visits. I'm lost and becoming depressed and hopeless. I'm only 25 years old female and before this, an athlete and very active person.
Levaquin isn't used in 90% of the country (if you mean the US) for gonorrhea, but it is used frequently for prostatitis.
And no, gonorrhea wouldn't show up on a pap smear. It would, however, show up on an std test that the doc might have done along with the pap.
You have a clear diagnosis of an infection in your prostate. I would go with that.
also been on the avelox a week now and still have a week to go, but infection is just getting worse. have been making sure not to take any dairy or other minerals with it, 8 hrs before or 4 hrs after taking it. doc told me to take my omeprazole every day for my acid reflux (which i haven't had any problems with in quite a while) because she thought my acid reflux might be causing all of this to be worse and making my asthma flare up.
I am a 44 year old male and the only other thing I take is valium 5 mg ...the avelox 400 mg that I have taken two 7 day coursed of recently I can no longer take as it effects my heart rate now...my ent switched to levaqin 500 mg and that also was no good for me...floroquines are not tolerated well anymore by me either now...
Around 9/27 I had the start of bronchitis & was taking some mucinex with a leftover antibiotic. Each day I thought I'd wake up feeling better. Unfortunately each day seemed a lil worse. After a week of suffering I went to urgent care. Apparently just by listening to my lungs, I was diagnosed with pneumonia. I was put on Albuterol in the nebulizer & Biaxin (antibiotic) & they said continue the mucinex.
I had VERY weird hallucinations last night. I woke up out of a dead sleep, thinking my cat, who was stuck to my headboard (don't ask me how), was falling on me...I (thought) I tipped it back up, reached for the bedside lamp, which kept moving out of my reach, silly light, I finally got it on, cat was sleeping just fine on pillow, headboard was where it belonged. Everytime I closed my eyes I saw different cartoons and movies. Yes, I'm totally serious.

I tested positive for Mycoplasma Genitalium in a DNA Lab, I just finsish my antibiotic treatment of Azithromycin 500mg day one the 250mg for 4 days. It's been 5 days since my last pill, I'm still feeling tenderness in my penis. What should be my next step?
I can barely breathe right now except for through my mouth. I cleaned the bedroom real good last night and is that what is causing me to feel this bad? I am yellow and green mucus when I blow my nose.
I also have swollen lymph nodes which came up on MRI. On both MRI and CT only found cysts in maxillary sinuses and some thickening, nothing else so ENTs do not think surgery would help.
I now have a really swollen and hard lump behind my ear, is this a lymph node? What is it?
