Common Questions and Answers about What is mirapex taken for

mirapex

Avatar n tn What I forget to ask is what time of day/night it is best to take the Gabapentin capsules. My RLS is (was) bad in the evenings & through the night. Perhaps I need to be on these for a few days to get the full effects - I can't sleep tonight hence my searching the interweb for any help or advice.
Avatar f tn RLS is now listed as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment in the Pain Tracker. Thanks for the suggestion. Best, MedHelp Pain Tracker: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I loose a lot of sleep. I get in day and night. My arms even jerk and have that restless feeling. Mirapex is taken twice a day and don't help. No drs will address it and I'm miserable . Is this a lack of a vitamin or mineral. Do I ever get rid of them?

1390101 tn?1281000559 I was on mirapex for 3 years, my miracle drug, for my RLS during that period I develop a gambling addiction. I find out that this is a side of the mirapex. For the sake of my self and the loss od my my family I choose to get off of it.I It took me 2 trys to get off of them and have suceeded. I no long have the urge to gamble. ,Now I am on simumet for my RLS and it does not work like the mirapex , I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go to sleep.
Avatar n tn t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.
398059 tn?1447945633 I posted a couple of times , Mirapex is what my Mother takes for RLS. Someone else posted that they take it for RLS . Both having great success with it after many many yrs of drs. , meds and NO sleep.
487070 tn?1313665952 I hate the side effects but it seems to be working for the most part. I understand it is mainly used for Parkinson's diasease and sometimes RLS. Does anyone take this for their RLS? If so how much? Supossedly it helps increase Dopmine levels which PLMD and Parkinson disorders have in common.I'm not sure if RLS is caused by low Dopamine or not. I feel like YUCK. I have had a dry, horse throat all winter & I think it may be a side effect.
1154672 tn?1262222616 I called again today, and she gave me a prescription for Requip (since there is a generic for it, and is less expensive than Mirapex). She started me on the starter pack. I take 1/2 of a .25 mg tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, then 1 full .50 tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, finally then 2 tablets 1 mg after that. I am concerened that since I have been taking 1 mg of Mirapex, that the dose of Requip won't be enough.
Avatar m tn I think the one you are thinking about is called Hylands and it is a supplement.
410281 tn?1254229064 It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?
Avatar n tn I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar f tn m going to have to go through my supplements and meds. The only new med is the Pramipexole .05 twice a day (Mirapex). The supplements are Sam-E, D 2000, A and Magnesium 250 twice a day. I'm going to cut the Pramipexole to once a day. Does anyone see if any one of these would cause this or is there a virus going around?
Avatar m tn Zofran has been shown to work experimentally as well as the natural remedy rhodiola (when taken under the supervision of a neurologist). Clonidine is patch form is markedly helpful for me as well as a person with advanced tardive dyskinesia in addition to some of the other treatments mentioned. But have a neurologist who is a movement disorders specialist confirm it first.
Avatar f tn I have found Baclofen to be beneficial. It is an odd medicine for me due to it seems so subtle in it's effects. Though, I notice it is doing it's job when I don't take it. Funny thing though, I was originally given Baclofen for neck pain and spasms asscociated with my neck problems a few years ago. Like I mentioned it is subtle. Now, my local neuro prescribes it for me now for "demyelinating disease of the CNS". I do give it a thumbs up.
Avatar f tn Angelbum...That report is extremely sketchy. Where are the lesions? How large are they? What is their shape? What, exactly, does "entirely nonspecific" mean, anyway? Never seen that one before. What are your symptoms? I'm sorry if you've posted that and I don't remember. What did your neuro say? Have you have a thorough neuro exam, and if so, was it normal or abnormal? I can better answer your "what now" if you give a little more info.
Avatar n tn However, if as you say that is a side effect from Mirapex then perhaps that is whats doing it. By last May did you mean 2008? If not then maybe you need another soon to be sure. You will need a physician so may as well find one now and get it looked at.
Avatar n tn I read online that Mirapex is for Parkinson's or RLS Syndrome.... I do not think it is a pain reliever like morphine. Good luck... hope you feel better.
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
279948 tn?1241270076 However, when thinking of the future, I will have to admit I am more frightened of RLS which I have had since I was seven. I am taking Mirapex for relief of this torturous malady, but now I am afraid of the drug. I take .25mg four times a day. I have had episodes of going to sleep and dropping whatever it is I have in my hands. As of today, I am trying to cut down and take half a dose in the morning and at noon. The drug has made my life bearable.

What is worse now she cannot get up and walk to relieve the pain a little and she cannot speak , all she does is scream in pain all night long. We are very frustrated and sad. please tell us how we can releive her pain and make her comfortable. right now she takes mirapex but i think she nedds something very strong otherwise she is going to lose her mind.
