Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) is a short acting inhaled medicine, a rescue medicine, with fewer side effects than similar medicines used for the relief of acute asthma symptoms. It is not a medicine well-suited for long term, sustained asthma control.
There are other classes of asthma medicines, called controller medicines and these do not have the same excitatory side effects.
It is possible that your stomach does not produce enough hydrocloric acid (hcl). You should find a Holisic Medical Doctor and tell him about your problem. Ask him if he has a way of checking to see if your stomach does not produce enough hcl. He will probably have you buy some hcl capsules from him or from the healh food store and take it with meals. What you do is take 1 capsule with your meal. If you get no burning in your stomach, then the next meal you take 2 capsules.
Also, I probably have very low stomach acid, and I do better if I take a Betaine HCl capsule before meals. Taking digestive enzymes and Betaine HCl helps to prevent the terrible bloating/need-to-burp symptom.
But I don't think it's merely an issue of poor digestion, since the problem is worse when I eat sugar (which is easy to digest). I think it's some sort of bacteria or parasite that comes out to play when I eat, particularly when I eat things it likes.
In the grand scheme of things, there's a lot worse you could have taken. A little background...Tylenol PM contains two ingredients...Acetaminophen and Diphenhydramine HCl. Diphenhydramine HCl is better known as Benadryl. It's an antihistamine that produces some sedation like effects. Now, when I went through rehab, we couldn't go near any "mind altering" substances, including Benadryl. Will you get addicted to it? Probably not.
Hello and welcome to the forum. Very sorry to hear that you have battling this for so long. It has been a week or so since you posted this. How are you doing? Any improvement? The lingering cough can last. It sounds like they are trying to cover all bases for eradicating the pneumonia. Most likely, your lungs are now clearing and the actual infection has passed. Your airways are irritated and this can take some time to recover from especially with your already compromised state.
What activity were you doing, where were you doing it, what time of day was it, what is the weather or temperature of the room. If you see a pattern like I always have flareups when I exercise in the morning maybe you should avoid that.
Now I am no expert but this is what I have done to help. I am still working on losing my own weight but with these tips I have minimized the exercised endused flareups I use to get. Hope this helps and good luck.
People much smarter than I can tell you EXACTLY what it does, but, having taken it myself for anxiety (and it is an "old standby") I can tell you it suppresses the panic attacks. I noticed few other effects -no headaches, drowsiness, tummy aches or any of that. You don't feel 100% yourself, but you DO get releif from those staggering, knock-down attacks.

Call your Dr. or go to an urgent care center if it's that bad. Don't take that cat medicine. I know it "looks like a human drug also" and it is BUT is used for different purposes in humans. Animals metabolize drugs much differently...
Lay down in a dark room with a cold cloth as Poochie said. It will pass with time and some otc meds.
The best approach to finding out what your problem is to get a Heidelberg pH Dignostic test. The test will be able to tell you if you are over or under producing HCL, or if you have Pyloric Insufficiency, Heavy Mucus in the Gut, Acute or Sub-acute Gastritus, and much more. This test does not require the use of the infamous naso-gastric tube. It is a very simple test that takes about 30 minutes.
The only one you might want to be careful with is the HCL betaine, which is a short-term supplement generally speaking. The more important issue is why you're taking them and when. For example, proteolytic enzymes can be used for digestion, in which case they are taken with a meal or just after or just before, whereas if used for inflammation they must be taken apart from food by a couple of hours for best effect.
I agree with Red Stars excellent post, I would also like to add that you may have a lactose intolerance, what leads me to say that is you said one time it happened after eating lots of ice cream, and another time after cheese and yogurt. Candida, and food allergies are often caused by low levels of stomach acid.
I would certainly give the apple cider vinegar a try, and then the HCL supplements.
Apple cider vinegar is a way to cleanse the body and balance acid and alkaline, but it doesn't increase stomach acid on a permanent basis. Betaine HCL is used for gallstones, not for stomach acidity, since it doesn't do that either. The reason is that neither stays in the stomach, so it can't permanently alter the acid/alkaline balance. The caution about HCL is more about using pure HCL food grade.
