I am taking Humulin-N but my sugar level every morning is around 225.
My whole body starts swelling up after weeks of Humulin N shots starting from the feet and legs. I am very sure this is the cause because the swelling subsides and my body will return to normal if I stop my injections. Please help.
I am running out because I am already into my Medicare gap and cannot afford to buy more--but will be going to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville on Thursday and can get more from the nurse there at that time. My Humulin is only about 3 weeks old so it has definitely not expired. Is there anything else you can suggest? I asked about a 30 day supply of Novolog and it is $299.00 which is impossible for me to get since I am on a strict budget due to not working anymore.
Zoe - I think Windchimes meant humulin insulin not huminsulin. Humulin is considered an intermediate acting insulin as its duration is 24 hours, but this can vary per individual. LANTUS, on the other hand, is considered long lasting as its duration is up to 36 hours.

You're a good friend to be concerned about your friends well being. If "N" is Humulin N, there is no "standard" Humulin N dose that will work for all people or even for the same person in all situations. This applies to other insulin types too. If your friends at home test results show low glucose levels "several times per week" it is time to have his/her insulin dosages re-evaluated by their physician.
MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED LANTUS INSULIN TO REPLACE THE HUMULIN L INSULIN THAT I HAD TAKEN FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN I TAKE THE LANTUS INSULIN PRESCRIBED DOSAGE(S) THAT APPROXIMATELY 15-30 MINUTES LATER I START TO SWEAT PROFUSELY. IS THIS A NORMAL REACTION TO THE LANTUS INSULIN? I VOICED MY CONCERNS TO MY DOCTOR AND HE HAD NO COMMENT. I AM ALSO TAKING SEVERAL DOSES OF HUMULIN R AND HAVE GAINED WEIGHT SINCE I STARTED TAKING THE LANTUS. PLEASE ADVISE. THANK YOU.
I want to Thank You both fo your answers My dr took me off of novalin and put me on Humulin 15 units twice a day and it is working some what better I take the humulin like I did the Novalin 15 minutes before meals sugars are doing some better not running near as high as it was on the Lantus If I do not see any results in the next couple of weeks will ask to be referred to and endro

I have been a diabetic type 1 since the age of 16 , I became diabetic following a car accident( seatbelt damaged pancreous )I started on beef and pork and suffered low BS constantly . I have been using Humulin R and just started using humulog in combination with this to try and put weight back on , lost about 25lbs . I seem to be having trouble with the humulog . I know our readings are different in canada , 5 to 7 is normal.
s gotten way out of control all I want to do is drink(non alcohol) but not really water just like juice and stuff. Really hard to stop. Wat can I do?
what are the food that has high carb? do rice and bread contain large portion of carbs? my doctor never told me about that so I have been living that way for almost 10 years...it s not until now I discovered this "carb counting" thingy...
I had much better control when I was using humuln n and humulin r . I am now taking lantus and novolog .I have had to increase my dosages and am still having a hard time getting control of my blood sugars. My aic is 7.8 this quarter vs 8. last quarter. should I go back to using the older drugs that gave me better control?
m not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Insulin glargine is also known as Lantus. Lantus, just like all insulins, can stimulate the body into causing fat production, so it is possible to gain weight on Lantus.
You have "T3THYROXINE,FREE (T4) H 4.9". I don't understand that because T3 is not the same as Thyroxine, Free (T4). T3 and T4 are 2 totally different hormones; you should have tested for both Free T3 and Free T4.
Please post the actual test run, along with the result and the reference range used by your lab. These ranges are lab specific, so must come from your own report.
I also don't understand the "THYROID STIMULATING HORMONe L 50".
I took my metformin thru my 1st pregnancy (all 39 weeks). The concern with the metformin is if they have to put you under for a csection. I did insulin (humulin for long acting and Humalog with meals) as well. I think they prefer the insulin tho.
If its coming out everytime you move then sounds like your water. Try calling l&d and see what they think but will probably want you to come in.
Hey, i have been having really bad cramps in my back and pelvic area for the past 9 months over the last few months it has been constant, agonizing pain, went to the docs they took blood it was towards the end of my cycle they are never regular and it always causes me great pain, levels came back as FSH- 4.1 u/l, Oestradiol- 155 pmol/l, Progesterone 3.
