Avatar m tn Here in Australia it is spring time and the pollen count is through the roof. As a result I am suffering from hayfever/asthma and typically do each year from 20 October to 20 November and pretty much to those dates. At 34/63 weeks on tx it certainly is adding an extra dimension to my sx's but still upright. I have found it necessary to take 180mg of 'fexofenadine hydrochloride' an anti-hystermine I guess.
Avatar n tn Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. It helps stabilize mast cells so they are less likely to release histamine. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn These medications include fexofenadine and cetirizine. But they should always be taken under medical supervision. Moreover you may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid deodorant / cosmetics. You can also steroid creams after a doctor’s guidance and also consult your doctor regarding alternative drugs to Cymbalta.
Avatar n tn In case of chronic hives antihistaminics have to be taken for a longer period of time. prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks). Double conventional doses of these non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine, Loratadine, Acrivastine and Fexofenadine may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control.

Avatar f tn Ever since I got my wisdom teeth taken out over a year ago, I've been getting a strange taste/smell in my throat and nose. It's not constant, but after I've had a bit of a cold or something it gets worse. It's mostly in my nose currently, and whenever I sniff I can smell it. I went to the doctor once and they prescribed a nasal spray (nasonex I believe). It helped but didn't make it go away completely.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for responding. Yes I do take suppressive therapy, but at times I do forget to take the pills which I know is a problem. I have some hormonal issues when I have my monthly period as well, which I know contributes to the EM. I went to the doctor today and had a well woman check up and they suggested I also go to a dermatologist. They gave me a script for Valtrex, not the generic form, to see if that may make a difference. I certainly hope so.
Avatar n tn Hi I have had severe Hives for 2 mos. This is the worse outbreak I've ever had, and my last case of Hives was 9 yrs ago. I was in the ER 2x this past month, put on IV steroids, antihistamines & Ranitidine. I had extensive blood work done for a multitude of alleries- all negative, Lupus, Lympoma, Lymes disease, CAT scan, all negative. I've done 2 rounds of Presnisone (which helped greatly), but 2 days after the last Prednisone pill- boom the hives came back bad.
