Common Questions and Answers about What is detrol la used for

detrol

Avatar f tn Hello sam11101, All the three medications- VESICARE, ENABLEX OR DETROL LA are equally good drugs. However, I would recommend Detrol LA as it is the relatively more established drug in terms of safety and efficacy. The following facts would help you. DETROL LA Capsules contain tolterodine tartrate. The active moiety, tolterodine, is a muscarinic receptor antagonist. The recommended dose of DETROL LA Capsules are 4 mg daily. DETROL LA should be taken once daily with liquids and swallowed whole.
Avatar f tn My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Avatar n tn Hi, My doctor had tried me on Vesicare but the side effects out weight the benefits. I was given Buscopan and Detrol LA to cope with bladder problems. I had a lot of problems with pain spasms and urgency. The Buscopan and Detrol LA help but in a case where I have severe pain, I now use Morphine.
Avatar n tn I worked for a urologist and we used a TENS unit type treatment called Uroplasty, that stimulates the tibial nerve with aids with bladder control. Detrol LA is also the highest recommended urinary incontinence treatment by physicians. Hope this helps a little.
Avatar f tn I have been having similar symptoms. I'm a 20 year old female and I've never had frequency before. It all started back in May and I've been dealing with it as best I can for 4 months now. I'm so sick of it... the problem started while on a car trip (which was terrible timing, let me tell you). I had to stop every 15 min. to pee. My parents are tired of driving anywhere with me because I have to stop so often.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure, but have you (or has he) checked with his cardiologist? If so, what does he/she say? Hope the move goes well and you enjoy your new home!
Avatar m tn I am scheduled this Friday (the 19th of Feb) for a cystoscope/with dmso...which is how I was diagnosed with IC to beging after this procedure back 06 I had some pain for the first couple of days....but, it helped a great deal...but, I am uncertain as rather the Vesicare and/or the Elmiron is causing my blood pressure to raise....or if it is the combination of the two medications.... I have tried Detrol and Detrol LA and, neither of those help me....
Avatar n tn I now use Detrol LA and Buscopan to combat these spasms. It does not get rid of them but it does dull the intensity.
Avatar n tn Things that they tried for me include medications like Flomax and Detrol LA. These meds give relieve on some areas but does not really deal with the prostatitis. One thing that gives me some relief at times is a hot bath. I'm sorry but I'm afraid that there is no real treatment option other than trial and error. I used to work as a heavy duty mechanic and I had many sleepless nights causing me to mis work due to the discomfort as well as being tired.
Avatar m tn There are several drugs that they should try first. To minimize bladder spasms that I experience, they prescribed Detrol LA for me. It used to work well, but currently having an indwelling catheter, it does not work as well as it used to. One of the latest thing that I have heard about is Botox. I have no further information on this, but perhaps you should aproach your urologist about this. For myself I also seem to have a small bladder that adds to the problem.
Avatar f tn On of the meds that I have found to work OK for me is Buscopan. It helps in case of bladder spasms and cramping. Detrol LA also made a difference. Due to neurological problems and pain, I also use Morphine tablets. I used to resort to Percacet, but it did not target the same sort of pain that Morphine seems to do for me. Talk to your doctor about some of these things. I hope that you will be able to find a solution for this.
Avatar f tn Drugs such as oxybutynin chloride (Ditropan®) and tolterodine (Detrusitol®, Detrol LA®) are taken orally, once a day, for overactive bladder. You can consult your doctor for these options. Also, I suggest you can initiate antibiotics like ofloxacin for better management of the infection.
Avatar n tn Hi and thanks for using the forum. Have you been tested for intersitial cystitis? It is a shame that there are no urogyno's in your area, but I think all you can do is try a different urologist or persist with the one you were already seeing. good luck.
Avatar m tn Hi everybody ok heres my problem that maybe somebody knows what is wrong with me starting about a month ago i have been feeling pressure too pee and when i go little to nothing comes out and i have to go like every five min and that goes on for like a week or two and then it stops and im fine then after a week or two it comes back and it happens again the er sent a urine culture out and it came back fine and also the urology doctor did a urine test and it was fine he did a ultrasound of my bladd
Avatar f tn They will put you on the new medicines for overactive bladder like Detrol LA or Vesicare. As for the being thristy--sometimes this is a side effect of medicines but you really need to be checked by a doctor right away. Hope this helped and everything is fine.
Avatar m tn I was put on Cipro XL for 6 days and the infection cleared but not the fequency and urgency to urinate. My doctor gave me Detrol LA a week ago and the symptoms have subsided greatly. On Sunday, my husband and I had intercourse. I lubed up well and all was good. Again on Tuesday night, we had intercourse - no pain. Wednesday morning, after I urinated, I noticed blood on the toilet paper. After 3 wipes, no more blood. There was not much blood. I went to the ER - urine is fine.
Avatar m tn Went to see another urologist who gave me Detrol LA and it worked! Now I go about one-half as many times as before. You need to find a doctor who can see if you have this very, very common condition. Good Luck to you.
Avatar n tn He took another specimen and everything was clear. He gave me a weeks supply of Detrol LA.(not sure why because its not like I am having to go all the time I just feel like I do) I am still taking it on my third day. I am still not feeling normal. My belly feels bloated or full. I was just curious as to what could be making me feel this way and what should I do next. Is it my bladder or something else? Or can I still have an infection or could the infections have damaged my bladder?
Avatar f tn What is the cause for sudden pain and numbness in the ear and jaw joint? I am a 22 year old female and I have been experiencing these symptoms since yesterday. I was fine until the evening when I touched my right ear (towards the inside) and minced in pain. Since then I have noticed pain, pressure and partial numbness what feels like the inside of my ear, towards the middle, and about an inch around it surrounding the top of my jaw joint. I have difficulty opening my mouth too much.
Avatar n tn I have had to Cath more during times when I needed to. The Caths are sterile, and it has worked real well. No UTI in 1/2 year!!! Yippeee! I believe It was Dx'd as Neuroginic Bladder like Heather said. My Urologist didn't want to put me on meds just yet since I am doing so well self cathing :) I used to take peeing for granted! I sure don't now! Happy peeing! I love that!!!
Avatar f tn Hey Carms .... welcome to limboland. Frequent urination is hallmark for type 2 diabetes; I've had that ruled out. I have juxtacortical lesion(s) as well! Currently, despite meeting the McDonald criteria, I am diagnosed with migraines with auras. My gp started me on amitriptylene for sleep -- lovely side benefits of no more muscle cramping AND it has calmed down my jumpy bladder. So maybe that's an option.
1140169 tn?1370185076 Another piece of the puzzle seems to have dropped into place on my quest for dx... I have O bands present in my spinal fluid. I don't see my neuro till May, but maybe this will be the thing that secures a dx. Of the diseases out there that O bands would be in the CSF, I believe I've been tested for most if not all of them. If I had my choice, MS would be better than any of the others (I think). My GP said I'm very close to a diagnosis (he's said MS all along).
Avatar n tn He said I should wait a while and it might go away on its own, but this morning I called him and got a prescription for Detrol LA. I took a pill around 2 hours ago. However, I seriously doubt that what I have is overactive bladder, since the symptoms seem different from mine (particularly that what I feel is not the need to empty the bladder, and that it is a continuous urge rather than one that reappears every 15 min).
Avatar f tn The pcp referred me to a gyn who gave me Detrol LA. That worked for a few months then I stopped it because it was losing it's efficiency, and $$ on inefficiency is not my thing! (Besides, he did dermatology laser work on the side and for some reason, that just creeped me out!) I did have surgery for endometriosis/ovarian issues and they diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis as well. (New set of gyn & urogyn dr's.
Avatar m tn One of the medications that offer some relief from the cramping is Buscopan. I have also been put on Detrol LA due to the fact that I have a neurogenic bladder. Due to a neurological condition I also use Morphine then things are really bad. Antoher pain killer is Endocet. Talk to your doctor about the possibility of some of the meds to eleviate the pain from cramping. Don't let any doctor tell you that you will get used to it. If it is true than I should be more then used to it now.
