Common Questions and Answers about What is cardizem la used for

tiazac

Avatar n tn Both Cardizem and Cardizem CD (a controlled release form of the drug) and there is Cardizem LA that is an extended release, once a day medication. Cardizem CD and Cardizem also used to treat high blood pressure. Thanks for your question. If you have any followup questions or comments you are welcome to respond. take care.
Avatar f tn You need to ask him if your heart is structurally normal, and what your ejection fraction is. Cardizem is usually for A-Fib. I know they will try it for PVCs that are symptomatic and REALLY bothersome, but not just like that. And WHY did he increase your Cardizem? Because of PVCs? That is not right. Sometimes, Cardizem has even been known to cause PVCs. I don't know, but if my dr put me on that for PVCs and nothing else was wrong, I'd switch doctors.
Avatar n tn I am on another brand/generic calcium channel blocker - Diz..don't recall, but I can check. I take what I think is the maximum does and had some of the symptoms you mention, but none real bad and my body has adjusted. Swelling of ankles was the the side-effect I most noticed, as did my wife. But it was not noticeable when dressed (a man) and I didn't have trouble putting on my shoes. I discussed with my cardiologist and he recommended I give it more time.
Avatar n tn EKG taken by cardiologist as precation was normal. Cardiologist is having me drop Cardizem LA (180 mg) for Carvedilol (6.25mg 2x per day). Any reason to think this change could trigger arythmia or something else really kooky? I am told this is an excellent medication and typically very well tolerated. I tried Toprol XL before for several months. Did not tolerate it well, mainly due to severe nightmares. Once removed from the Toprol, nightmares stopped.
Avatar f tn I have been taking cardizem (240 mg/daily of cartia) for well over 10 years and haven't had any serious side effects. Cardizem is a calcium channel blocker and I take it to control my high blood pressure and to lower heart rate during atrial fibrillation.
Avatar f tn I was put on a calcium channel blocker for the spasms. It took about a month for that to start working. In the mean time I used the nitro alot. Have they discussed this with you? I tried Cardizem LA and had some awful side effects. For 12 hours I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I had some very different chest pains after taking that pill. So I went back to using the Norvasc. It takes some time to get the right combination of meds.
Avatar f tn Recently I have started having heart palpatations of 215 that last for 15 minutes. This has only happened twice and they were 3 months apart. My cardiologist has put me on cardizem la 120 mg to see if that will keep my heart rate from becoming too high. I have had a heart cath, stress test, echocardiogram and every test that can be done has. Are my palpations of 215 coming from my anxiety disorder? What do I need to do if I have another attack?
Avatar f tn Will there be any serious complications. She is nervous but also wants to get off the cardizem and stay on the toperol.
Avatar n tn I tried metoprol and diovan hct and although by bp is in the normal range my heart rate is elevated unless I continue on the cardizem cd. Is there another medication that I can discuss with my cardiologist to replace the cardizem cd that will keep my heart rate in the normal range? I feel I've got to withdraw from the cardizem as the side effects seem to be progressing the longer I use the medication.
Avatar f tn Thanks, I only started the Metoprolol because I would get episodes of tachycardia that were very annoying but my heart was structurally normal, so guess it was just an electrical thing. I used to never have issues with erections but noticed after the Metoprolol that I lost some interest and also my erections were harder to maintain. Also, I still get the annoying palpitations so maybe the Metoprolol isn't the best for me.
976897 tn?1379167602 My blood pressure has reduced to 120/70-75 which is much better. Lastly, it seems so much easier to get up in the mornings. It was like I used to have to wait for my heart to get active before, I felt so lethargic like my body was stuck in idle mode. Now I can literally wake up and jump out of bed. I hope this is of interest to someone.
Avatar n tn Is okay to take 2.5 mg of Norvasc, 120mg Cardizem and Topamax? This discussion is related to Discontinuation of Norvasc.
Avatar f tn -) Perhaps your thyroid is off for some reason. They can check that with a simple blood test.
177337 tn?1310059899 I have Diltiazem for that reason. When I'm having a bratty heart day with lots of tachy and chest pain, I use one of those to calm things down. It's not quick like taking an aspirin for a headache but it does help. The only down side is Diltiazem gives me a wicked headache. If I took it every day like I used to, that side effect would wear off in a couple of weeks. Still, I'd rather just take it when I have to and deal with the headache. At least it calms my heart.
Avatar f tn Since then my heart was monitored for 24hrs and I was given the option of taking Cardizem by mouth. I declined taking the Cardizem due to unknown possible effects on the baby. My heart was checked with EKG and ECHO and all appeared normal. I do not drink and I was taking in a limited amounted of caffeine at the time. My two questions are what are the chances this will never happen again?
Avatar n tn changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar f tn I think you need to discuss what options you have to return to the Cardizem CD results. Is this a beta blocker? Metoprolol is also a generic that is widely available and inexpensive. Calcium channel blockers can also be used to lower BP. Both of these also lower HR, which I think you don't need, but it you do well on a lower HR then anything over 40 at rest should be fine.
Avatar f tn All of asudden my heart rate increased 108 to 112 resting. Had a nuclear stree test done results are normal. Doctor had already increased my Cardizem Cd to 360 in Am <180 at night. Heart rate was good for 2days ,around 80 . Yesterday I flt like my chest was going to explode. Took Maltha and 2 nitro, pain went away.. Many times a day I fel a chest discomfort that lasts for seconds, sometimes it feels like someone blew a bubble in my chest.
237039 tn?1264258057 d have to visit the Raynauds site and ask about any connection between Raynauds and heart spasms. All I know from my experience is the Diltiazem which was given to me for my heart arrhythmias helped stop the chest pains and has eased my Raynauds at the same time. Yes, CCB's are given to folks with Raynauds but in my case it was for my arrhythmias. Have you visited the Raynauds site? It's separate from here so I can't post the link. They're a nice group of people.
574118 tn?1305135284 Truthfully I tolerated Lamictal better but each person is different as to their reaction and what side effects they experience. Look up the medications online if you wish. Its only in general terms that lithium is known as the most effective mood stabilizer. As to which mood stabilizer is used for what form of bipolar that's a psychiatrist's decision though you look up more online to find out more if you want.
Avatar n tn Is anyone willing to share any side effects of flecanaide, zoloft or Klonpin used to treat PVCs?
Avatar n tn My blood pressure seems to be under control. The A-Fib goes on for hours and is often a quivering, jiggly sensation and/or accompanied by palpitations...with normal pulse rate due to the Cardizem. I have seen three cardiologists (we have homes in different states) and have gone from Norvasc to Cardizem plus Metropolol, then Bisopherol and when we returned to Florida the cardio doc put me on Cardizem yet again plus baby aspirin.
233622 tn?1279334905 I have a lot of pain in my feet as well. I looked this up and found that the test for walking on your toes is for testing for plantar flexion weakness. The test for walking on your heels is for testing for dorsiflexion weakness. See this site: http://www.opt.pacificu.edu/ce/catalog/COPE9462/Neuro_Zelczak.
233622 tn?1279334905 LA, I think we should just cross this bridge when it arrives. You were designated as PPMS weren't you? Up to 40% of people with PPMS have negative LPs.
3232390 tn?1352004145 I was on 120mg cardizem in the am and 100mg at night for 6 years now,as of 3 months ago I started having problems with tachycardia\svt\ist. Got to the point I couldnt stand up or raise my arm without going into an eppisodes. So at first they tried up'n my cardizem to 180mg & I was still always in tachy. Then they split my 100mg toprol to 50 mg in am with 180 mg cardizem and the other 50 at night. Still didnt work.
4845170 tn?1369102292 How many of you ladies went from not being dilated at all at 35 nearly 36 weeks to going into labor on your own by your due date? How many of you had to be induced? I am hoping this does not mean I will be late, but with absolutely no contractions of dilation so far, I am thinking an induction at 41 weeks may be in my future.
