Common Questions and Answers about Cardizem la generic

tiazac

Avatar n tn EKG taken by cardiologist as precation was normal. Cardiologist is having me drop Cardizem LA (180 mg) for Carvedilol (6.25mg 2x per day). Any reason to think this change could trigger arythmia or something else really kooky? I am told this is an excellent medication and typically very well tolerated. I tried Toprol XL before for several months. Did not tolerate it well, mainly due to severe nightmares. Once removed from the Toprol, nightmares stopped.
Avatar n tn Both Cardizem and Cardizem CD (a controlled release form of the drug) and there is Cardizem LA that is an extended release, once a day medication. Cardizem CD and Cardizem also used to treat high blood pressure. Thanks for your question. If you have any followup questions or comments you are welcome to respond. take care.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
Avatar f tn I have taken name brand Cardizem CD for years along with 3 other bp meds. The pharmacys here can't get the name brand Cardizem for some reason now so switched me to Cartia XT. I started this today early morning like I took the name brand. That was at 5;30 a.m. At 11 a.m. I took my bp and HR as I do daily. Its consistently around 110/70 with HR in upper 40s to low 50s. Never gets above 70 as EP wants it this way due to an autonomic dysfunction. It was 145/92 HR 64.
3232390 tn?1352004145 I take my 360 mg cardizem and 25 mg metoprol at 5:30 a.m. and then 25 mg metoprol at 5:30 p.m.. It seems to work best for me. I also take 2 other bp meds but they don't affect heart rate. I can only take name brand cardizem(which insurance won't pay for). The generic doesn't work.on me at all. Its hard paying out of pocket but seems I have no choice. My electrophysiologist wants me to drink 150-160 ounces of fluid per day. If I don't I have problems and will actually faint.
Avatar f tn I was just put on 180 mg. of Cardizem LA once a day and was curious if anyone else here was taking this medication? If so, what side effects do or did you have? So far (only the first day) I haven't had any. Also, did the medication work for you as far as lowering your blood pressure?
Avatar n tn m experiencing is with my heart rate. since the ablation proceedure my heart rate elevated to 100-110 bpm. my EP prescribed cardizem cd and it is keeping it under control now. the side effects are what's causing me problems. my toes and lower legs are feeling numb. I tried metoprol and diovan hct and although by bp is in the normal range my heart rate is elevated unless I continue on the cardizem cd.
Avatar n tn The A-Fib goes on for hours and is often a quivering, jiggly sensation and/or accompanied by palpitations...with normal pulse rate due to the Cardizem. I have seen three cardiologists (we have homes in different states) and have gone from Norvasc to Cardizem plus Metropolol, then Bisopherol and when we returned to Florida the cardio doc put me on Cardizem yet again plus baby aspirin. Eating, reclining, or turning over in my sleep causes pounding and/or fluttering heart.
Avatar f tn I know PVC means premature ventricular contraction, but is this something to worry about? I went to see my cardio doctor yesterday and he raised my medication (Cardizem LA) from 180 mg. to 240 mg. a day. Every time I see him he does an EKG and shows me the irregular heartbeats. To me it looks totally different than a normal EKG and I don't understand why since January this has been happening to me.
Avatar f tn Recently I have started having heart palpatations of 215 that last for 15 minutes. This has only happened twice and they were 3 months apart. My cardiologist has put me on cardizem la 120 mg to see if that will keep my heart rate from becoming too high. I have had a heart cath, stress test, echocardiogram and every test that can be done has. Are my palpations of 215 coming from my anxiety disorder? What do I need to do if I have another attack?
Avatar f tn VESICARE,ENABLEX OR DETROL LA..........I m male and 29 yrs old ,can i also take detrol la.....Any response should be highly appreciated..........
Avatar m tn However, if your wife has an enlarged left atrium, then the odds of this being successful are much lower than if her LA was normal (I also have an enlarged LA, 5.5 cm dia., and have been told that it isn't worth trying in my case). If your wife is in continuous/persistent afib and, even with verapimil and a pacemaker , experiences symptoms like strong annoying palpitations, dizziness, being tired all the time then another type of ablation is considered.
Avatar n tn I tried taking Cardizem and had to stop. I had been given Cardizem instead of Norvasc for heart spasms. It was the long lasting Cardizem. I suffered through 12 hours of awful chest pains. I went back to the Norvasc. It just works better for me.
Avatar f tn She has not felt good basically the whole time since she started Cardizem and asked her cardiologist this month if she could stop the Cardizem. He told her to just stop taking it cold turkey and that they would have to work on regulating her blood pressure. How do you feel about stopping this medication after 17 yrs cold turkey? Will there be any serious complications. She is nervous but also wants to get off the cardizem and stay on the toperol.
Avatar f tn m about to start Cialis, so hopefully that will help regardless, but my cardiologist mentioned that I might try Cardizem. He was suggesting it had fewer sexual side effects. Maybe the Cialis will be enough to override any sexual side effects from the Metoprolol so I won't have to switch, but still curious whether I should ditch it for the Cardizem to at least try it. I don't have high blood pressure, just tachycardia and the metoprolol really helps keep that in check.
Avatar f tn In the mean time I used the nitro alot. Have they discussed this with you? I tried Cardizem LA and had some awful side effects. For 12 hours I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I had some very different chest pains after taking that pill. So I went back to using the Norvasc. It takes some time to get the right combination of meds. You just have to work with your doctor until you find the right thing.
237039 tn?1264258057 Not that site. I tried the Cardizem LA 360mg once and the side effects were miserable. I had terrible chest pains and skipped beats the full 24 hours. My heart felt bruised afterward. I haven't tried it again since. I went back to taking the Norvasc. I am just curious though, if the Raynauds is spastic in nature, could there be a connection. I think there could be, but then I am just wondering. My husband says that's dangerous! (For me to wonder.
976897 tn?1379167602 So, I am curious. I still have 29 of the 30 Cardizem LA left over. After taking just one I started experiencing some of the worst and very different chest pains ever. It took 12 hours for these to begin to subside. I honestly thought I was going to have to go to the ER. I never took another one and told my doctor that I wanted to go back and try the Norvasc. The Norvasc did begin to help after a couple of weeks, adn the spasms started to get less severe and less in occurrences.
116881 tn?1189755823 I'm no expert but I believe that Cardizem (Calcium Channel Blocker) is considered a very effective drug for afib. Cardizem, I believe, also lowers bp and heart rate. Could your Dr prescribe some instant acting Cardizem that could be taken in the case of an Afib event on the plane? I would think that this may at least keep your heart rate contained until you can get to an actual medical facility upon landing. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn I have been taking a calcium channel blocker for my tachycardia and it is not working. I am taking cardizem, and my heart rate is the same as when I started, now he wants me to take a higher dose. This will be the third time raising the dose in 4 weeks! Please if someone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. He also wants me to take zoloft for my depression and said it will lower my heart rate. Is this possible? I'v had tachycardia for years, I am in my 50s.
Avatar n tn It didnt suit me So i tried a few more . Currently I am on cardizem 60mg and seems to control my BP and HR good . I am 5 10 and weigh 200 pounds . I was wondering if some has been through scenarion of palpitaion and did it go away by itshelf or is it a life long thing ? How long will I have to cardizem ? is anyone of you taking cardizem for a long time ?.. It make me feel horrible inside sometimes . but If I stop taking it my BP shoots really high .
