Common Questions and Answers about Cardizem la side effects medication

tiazac

Avatar n tn which ensured I got peak med delivery within that time range. The only side effect I had from the Cardizem LA (not the generic) was being able to wake up in the mornings. I felt drugged. I guess you could say that the price was also a side effect, but...We are trying the carvedilol (generic for Coreg) to see if it offers me better coverage. It is a 2x per day dosing.
Avatar n tn m surprised that your doctor would even recommend a medication (with all its side effects) for something that happens so rarely. To put this in perspective, some people on board have 20,000 to 30,000 PVC's a day! Talk about a lot. They are on medication. I'm not nearly so bad. I have 2-5 PVC/PAC's a minute during the day plus a few tachy times a day and I don't take medication for them.
Avatar f tn of Cardizem LA once a day and was curious if anyone else here was taking this medication? If so, what side effects do or did you have? So far (only the first day) I haven't had any. Also, did the medication work for you as far as lowering your blood pressure?
Avatar n tn As lagoya mentioned, you may or may not experience side effects. If so, they range from annoying side effects to serious side effects. If it's helpful, when I took flecainide, I had weird dreams, shakiness, tremors and gastointestinal problems. It wasn't horrible, but it was bothersome enough that the doctor switched me to rhythmol. Great suggestion from lagoya on checing out the medication under "Health Topics" above.
Avatar n tn Both Cardizem and Cardizem CD (a controlled release form of the drug) and there is Cardizem LA that is an extended release, once a day medication. Cardizem CD and Cardizem also used to treat high blood pressure. Thanks for your question. If you have any followup questions or comments you are welcome to respond. take care.
Avatar n tn I'm taking Cardizem and have serious side effects (constipation, ankle swelling, etc.) Is there a comparable drug that does not cause such sever symptoms?
Avatar f tn I know PVC means premature ventricular contraction, but is this something to worry about? I went to see my cardio doctor yesterday and he raised my medication (Cardizem LA) from 180 mg. to 240 mg. a day. Every time I see him he does an EKG and shows me the irregular heartbeats. To me it looks totally different than a normal EKG and I don't understand why since January this has been happening to me.
Avatar f tn Metoprolol has helped with the tachycardia overall, just figured since the cardiologist suggested Cardizem as having less side sexual side effects, I'd give it a try. But when you say "getting into some serious sh.. stuff, what do you mean"? Is it way more potent than Metoprolol? Or did you mean it's just no better?
Avatar n tn Hi, I had a second ablation about 9 months ago and it apparently was successful because I have been in normal sinus rhythm since then. the problem I'm experiencing is with my heart rate. since the ablation proceedure my heart rate elevated to 100-110 bpm. my EP prescribed cardizem cd and it is keeping it under control now. the side effects are what's causing me problems. my toes and lower legs are feeling numb.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
Avatar m tn However, if symptom relief and/or side-effects are not manageable an ablation could be the best hope. If this is your case you should be sure you doctors know how troubling your condition is with the medication regiment.
Avatar f tn She has not felt good basically the whole time since she started Cardizem and asked her cardiologist this month if she could stop the Cardizem. He told her to just stop taking it cold turkey and that they would have to work on regulating her blood pressure. How do you feel about stopping this medication after 17 yrs cold turkey? Will there be any serious complications. She is nervous but also wants to get off the cardizem and stay on the toperol.
Avatar n tn Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.
544531 tn?1221339601 I was worried too about the new med I was put on and guess what? nothing, no side effects!
976897 tn?1379167602 t really notice the effects they had. Over a week ago I had to return to this medication (bisoprolol) and so I thought it might be of interest to people what I experienced just in case they go through the same thing and wonder if it's normal. After just two hours of taking the medication I noticed a strange fluttering appear in my chest, like my Heart was missing beats. It wasn't too often, probably three to four times a day and lasting about 20 seconds.
Avatar n tn Hi, My doctor had tried me on Vesicare but the side effects out weight the benefits. I was given Buscopan and Detrol LA to cope with bladder problems. I had a lot of problems with pain spasms and urgency. The Buscopan and Detrol LA help but in a case where I have severe pain, I now use Morphine.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with vasospasms and have them daily. I tried Cardizem and had some really bad side effects with it, so I went back to taking the Norvasc. I carry my nitro with me always!
Avatar n tn I don't remember having frequent hot flashes with Verapamil - but the doctor switched me to Cardizem as the Verapamil wasn't helping my arrythmia. Sorry - I can't relate - I'm 69 and still have hot flashes like once every 3 months.
Avatar m tn I say all of this from what I have read, I have never taken any drug stronger than Rhytmol - which had few if any side effects. I do have side effects from the 50 mg beta block I now take. I can relate in that my problem is also AFib, but my AFib symptoms are not debilitating. I do not wear any electrical devices as my AFib has never done more than give me a hight high rate, which the beta blocker holds down to under 100 resting HR.
Avatar f tn It is not unusual for individuals to have side effects when they begin using a retinol product. Most manufacturers recommend beginning with 2 applications a week for the first week or so depending on how your skin reacts. After that you can increase to every other night and then to every night as your skin adjusts. I have used several products with retinol and this has always been the case for me. I do not have sensitive skin.
237039 tn?1264258057 Not that site. I tried the Cardizem LA 360mg once and the side effects were miserable. I had terrible chest pains and skipped beats the full 24 hours. My heart felt bruised afterward. I haven't tried it again since. I went back to taking the Norvasc. I am just curious though, if the Raynauds is spastic in nature, could there be a connection. I think there could be, but then I am just wondering. My husband says that's dangerous! (For me to wonder.
Avatar m tn However, if your wife has an enlarged left atrium, then the odds of this being successful are much lower than if her LA was normal (I also have an enlarged LA, 5.5 cm dia., and have been told that it isn't worth trying in my case). If your wife is in continuous/persistent afib and, even with verapimil and a pacemaker , experiences symptoms like strong annoying palpitations, dizziness, being tired all the time then another type of ablation is considered.
