biaxin

1138687 tn?1548643978 I will probably be safe with the clarith (and I know is also called biaxin, but thanks for pointing that out!). But tomorrow I will be talking with my doctor and thanks so much for this information, it is very helpful. It's just also been stressful the past few days so it's hard for me to think clearly about what I will do. I'll give an update, tahnks again!!
Avatar n tn m allergic to Penicillin and Sulfa, I just finished taking Doxycycline for a week and feel better. Thanks for the information.
Avatar m tn Biaxin (clarithromycin) is an antibiotic related to azithromycin which is widely used to treat STIs however biaxin is not well studies for STI treatment or prevention. As a result, while it is likely that biaxin may be effective against common bacterial STIs, there are not good data to say this with confidence. Most women do not have STIS and it is unlikely that your partner had and STI or if she did, you may not have acquired one.
4939681 tn?1361299299 Plaquenil is often perceived as an anti-arthritis drug used to treat connective tissue disorders. What it does is make the body more alkaline. My doc explained that he prescribes it with Biaxin (Clarithromycin-an intracellular abx) because by making the body more alkaline, the Biaxin can more easily penetrate the body's cells, which makes it up to 40% more effective. There is the common belief that inflammation causes pain.
Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
Avatar m tn Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?
Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin, which is brand name for clarithromycin. Why did your MD not check the box for generic, which is generally a lot cheaper but is technically the same drug? It's a fairly common drug. If you order online from a reputable/well-known website, you may be able to get a better price than at the corner pharmacy. If you belong to WalMart or perhaps Target or similar stores, I understand their pharmacy charges are quite reasonable.
723952 tn?1231857532 You might ask the dr what each of those meds is intended to accomplish. Do you have co-infections? Sometimes that makes a difference in what you are given. To my limited understanding, biaxin and flagyl have similar actions: they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic.
Avatar f tn in midafternoon, a quiet time to read or something relaxing and see if that gets you past the tired time, rather than trying to fight it. I was on Biaxin but not Tindamax, and anyway everyone is different, esp in Lymelands. Be kind to your body!
Avatar m tn I also took biaxin for a throat problem a week ago. Doc gave me 500mg pills twice a day for 5 days. and I took them for 3 days then stopped for 2 day then finished the last 2 days after cause I found out that I have to do all of them. Would this have cured anyt sti? Sorry for long question doc just want everything answered at once.
4939681 tn?1361299299 Biaxin is well known for causing a metallic taste in the mouth. It's not a herx or acid reflux. Every time I used it (and every time many other Lymies used it) that metallic taste stayed the entire course and never diminished. I guess there could be a few people who didn't have that taste----- but then, we're all different aren't we?
1094370 tn?1317134825 Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn my LLMD told me that some test came back indicating a microscopic parasite which is why he added the plaquenil. He said that is what is used to erradicate it. He also said like you know parasites can cause symptoms similiar to lyme like tingling, etc. So we'll see. I was on a three day course of flagyl and it made me herx bad and had really awful dreams. what will the new regimen be for you?
1065234 tn?1254882617 t handle the biaxin so again she prescribed another z-pack. I finished that and here it is 2 days later, and I am feeling run down again and now I have a spot under my left ear that is sore and my ear canal is sore as well. My lungs are still congested and producing greenish mucous. An ultrasound did reveal a small cyst on my thyroid, but no reall attention is being paid to that right now. Something minor is also going on with my liver- my NP asked if I take a lot of tylenol.
Avatar n tn They put me on Biaxin and told me to rest. I have been on Biaxin now for a little over two weeks and I am almost finished with the pills. My period was supposed to come on Nov. 28th or 29th and still hasn't showed up yet. I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms like spotting, breast tenderness, or sickness other than headaches that I usually get. The only time I had sex without a condom was on Sat.
Avatar m tn He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?
Avatar n tn just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.
Avatar m tn you say the normal dose for most infections would clear these infections...is 1g a day for 10 days a good dose or is a low dose?..I have only had it once so I am not sure what is considered a high or low dose. 4) as I have read 10% of men may have no symptoms...is it beleived that they do but maybe ignored?...IN your practice do you see pretty typical symptoms for gonnerhea? Thanks again..
