Avatar f tn sinus CT scan is normal too. Is this viral is it okay to take several months for cough to go away. I have no wheezing or asthma history. could this be lung infection? Please help.
Avatar f tn And strep can be a little resistant. Augmentin does usually knock it out though. I took antibiotics for a full month around the clock for a tooth issue (yes, 4 times a day and got up at night or it). I was fine during. About two weeks after stopping, all heck broke loose in my GI track. I did get a yeast infection and treated that. BUT, I had a day in which I was horribly ill. I had stomach cramping, nausea and diarrhea. It was brutal.
Avatar f tn Now 2 days in I have diarrhea. Should I discontinue the augmentin? If not, what is the best way to treatthe diarrhea?
Avatar n tn Hi, antibiotics, such as amoxicillin for 2 weeks, have been the recommended first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) is also an appropriate first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Other options include cephalosporins such as cefpodoxime proxetil (Vantin) and cefuroxime (Ceftin). In patients allergic to beta-lactams, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim), clarithromycin (Biaxin), and azithromycin.
Avatar n tn My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin, spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
Avatar f tn Although Augmentin kills certain types of bacteria and is used for lower respiratory, ear, urinary and sinus bacterial infections, does not necessarily mean it will get help a sore throat. To find out what type of bacteria is causing the sore throat and which antibiotic will kill that bacteria is to get a swab taken of your throat to identify the bacteria and then the correct antibiotic will be prescribed.
Avatar n tn All I can do is go by what the CDC recommends in the STD Treatment Guidelines. Augmentin might cure it - that's fine. Its just not a chance I would want to take. You are entitled to take that chance if you want. And I agree that a follow up test is never a bad idea. If you want to argue some more - go for it. I'm done.
Avatar f tn It is unclear what your treatment for your hepatitis C was in 2011. The augmentin is an antibiotic and the livolin is typically used for asthma? Based on what you have reported, it would be difficult for anyone to provide advice. Do you know your genotype, viral load? Are you being seen by a gastroenterologist/hepatologist? Are you sure you have hepatitis C? What makes you think so? Be well.
Avatar f tn Went to the clinic and gave a repeat specimen, it showed Entercoccus was placed on Augmentin. From research I have found that the only thing that works on Entercoccus bacteria is vancomycin.
Avatar m tn It is possible for your infection to be resistant to azithromycin, the typical treatment for NGU. The Augmentin will have no effect on chlamdia, which is what I think your doctor suspects you have. Go back into the doctor. He/she will most likely do a culture and sensitivity to identify the infectious organism as well as determine what antibiotic or combination of antibiotics will work best.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
250701 tn?1320974765 My kids always got diarrhea on augmentin. I hope your tummy is doing well. Did he test your sputum for a bacterial infection? I wouldn't take an antibiotic called in without being sure I had one. Feel better.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
640719 tn?1277140030 I'm getting a bit scared lately... I have been battling a recent UTI. I used to get them a lot when I was younger but haven't had one in about 2- 3 years. Anyway, took levaquin 500mg for about a week and felt much better then 4 days later it hit again. Did the AZO testing which tested positive for nitrate so went back on Levaquin and after two days of taking it I wasn't getting much relief so I went to my doctor.
Avatar f tn Doctor, My dermatologist prescribed Augmentin 1g for 14 days for syphilis. I found out 4 days ago, both VDRL and FTA-ABS tests (IgG pos, IgM neg) confirmed that I do have a syphilis infection, and I was possibly infected 5 years ago( am I way past the secondary stage? possibly latent?). The dermatologist says that Augmentin should work, but I'm worried. I will continue with the oral Augmentin, and re-test to see if it is working, but what are the chances it will?
Avatar n tn i think that is wat my doctor prescribed for me the last time. u need to check wid ur OB first though.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend was prescribed 1 gram of Augmentin twice daily for 3 weeks for acute bacterial prostatitis. He hasn't actually received his urine test results yet though, so not sure what type of bacteria it actually is. Is this an appropriate treatment?
Avatar n tn t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
Avatar f tn I have been fighting a bone infection in my jaw for 6 months - it wasn't identified until this past month but I'd been very sick this whole time. This past month I finally found a good oral surgeon who removed the 2 teeth causing the problem, and cleaned out the bone underneath.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed augmentin for a sinus infection and I had no side effects while taking it. I finished it 4 days ago. Starting yesterday afternoon I had clay colored stool. I thought it would pass, but it hasn't. I have very slight stomach cramps. Is this normal and my body is just recovering from the antibiotic or should I be concerned?
