I just want to be sure I have ra before I begin these injections they really scare me! I have been told, as drbob992 said, that it can take quite some time to begin to help, if it is going to help. Usually, when it fails to help much or takes longer than "expected" a biologic will be added. You may want to discuss this with your rheumatologist. Aggressive treatment is needed to slow down progression of disease activity and erosion. I'll be starting one in January 2013.

I have a question. Are drugs in the benzo family ever used to treat seizures? As in Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Restoril, etc? I have simple partial seizures and was on xanax on an "as needed" basis to control some nervousness about going back to college. I was on it for about 2 months. My mom is on Enbrel. She began in May of 2009. Prior to that she was on Arava for five months and it almost killed her. She lost 60 lbs, had heart issues, urinary tract infections, had no appetite and was incredibly weak. Her RA doctor said it was not the Arava. It was. Thursday my female 10 lb. 2 year old Japanes chin was lethargic and not eating. She was givin Reglan and Pepcid at the clinic. Friday still lethargic not eating and had a fever. Early 2012, she used this certain anti-dandruff shampoo and it worked well, but after a few months of using it, the dandruff came back and seemed to have become stubborn. I had a sonogram and a Hida scan (sp?) They told me I had Fatty Liver, to lose weight and to stop taking my Arava. I did and levels went back down. This was maybe a year ago. Now it is back and it sometimes it makes me sick to my stomach and I have a lot of gas. Also, my bowel movements are mostly yellow soft to almost runny (sorry). My urine is bright yellow almost neon. But if someone wants to know if it's ok to do treatment on methadone or if tx feels like heroin withdrawl oro what it's like to watch a human being die of end stage liver disease.....
