What is aciphex used to treat

Common Questions and Answers about What is aciphex used to treat

aciphex

Avatar f tn Huh. This is an interesting dilemma, because Amoxicillin and Aciphex are sometimes used together to treat certain types of recurrent stomach ulcers associated with the H. pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy.
Avatar f tn s (proton pump inhibitors) are a group of medications used to treat GERD like Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex, Nexium, and Dexilant.
Avatar f tn Aciphex is a fine choice for a proton pump inhibitor to treat the GERD. If the symptoms continue, you may want to consider a 24-hr pH study to quantify the severity of the disease. Sometimes adding an H2-blocker like Pepsid or Zantac can help. If GERD continues to be present, and the symptoms refractory, you can consider surgical treatments like a fundoplication. Otherwise, other disease can be considered, including delayed gastric emptying, and evaluated by a gastric emptying scan.
Avatar n tn Prevacid, Nexium, Protonix, Aciphex, Zantac, and Pepcid are all used to treat reflux. You can ask you doctor who will know best which one is least likely to cause you dizzyness.

Avatar m tn t mention it, so I doubt this is your problem, but another thing to consider is any heart medications you may be on. Beta blockers are well known for causing chronic cough. Other heart conditions and medications can cause chronic cough as well. If you don't get relief from the cough with continued use of the Advair and Aciphex, you may want to see an allergist. They are better trained to treat chronic cough.
Avatar n tn Yes. Long term use of PPIs like aciphex causes decreased absorption of vitamin B12 leading to a deficiency in this crucial vitamin. Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms include numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Permanent nerve damage will occur if vitamin B12 deficiency has has gone without treatment for a sufficient time. The baking soda test: Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) in an 8 ounce glass and drink it.
Avatar f tn My dr suggests switching to Aciphex. Can you tell me if that is as good as Nexium? My insurance will cover it as they would not the Nexium.
Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar n tn i have almost that same problem. i was diagnosed with gerd three months ago i was taking nexium for it and it seemed to have cleared it all up.... then all at once it came back but now i get the shakey, lightheaded, feeling, pain under my left rib cage, fullness in the middle of my chest, lump feeling in my throat, and sometimes that acidy taste when i burp in my throat and mouth, along with the heavy chest feeling and racing heart. i take zantac 150 now maybe itll work. idk...
Avatar n tn I have a question. Are drugs in the benzo family ever used to treat seizures? As in Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Restoril, etc? I have simple partial seizures and was on xanax on an "as needed" basis to control some nervousness about going back to college. I was on it for about 2 months. I started realizing I got less of my sensory and motor seizures which have always been uncontrollable since I started getting them back in 2000.
Avatar m tn I have had GERD for years. I went from Aciphex to Protonix and now Nexium. I have recently had a B-12 count toward the low level (but still in normal range) and am concerned that this is because of the medication. I also heard that the medication can cause stomach cancer. Is using the medication for so long safe? Is there a timframe for which it should be stopped? Also, I recently heard about Kapidex.
Avatar n tn (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two. Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! I would recommend not worrying that you have cancer or something else, until you get checked out by a doctor. Has your diet changed at all?
Avatar n tn Lisa, you may be in the same type of situation that many celiacs find themselves in - there's not direct relationship between when you eat something and when the symptoms occur. In addition, for many celiacs, they can be gluten-free for weeks-to-months but they're still miserable. It can take a long, long time for your body to normalize once your GI tract has been 'irritated.' I don't thinkg you're going to get any clear answers for some time to come.
Avatar n tn Thursday my female 10 lb. 2 year old Japanes chin was lethargic and not eating. She was givin Reglan and Pepcid at the clinic. Friday still lethargic not eating and had a fever. Friday she had blood work and xrays. Everything was normal except slightly anemic. Also a questionable gas pattern and a dark area in the stomach on xray. was given fluids, baytril injection, and ampicillan injection. Went home with bayrtil prescribed once a day and probiotic, still on pepcid.
Avatar n tn Acid reflux can cause the feeling of having a lump in your throat. If the Aciphex has not imporved symptoms in 7 months, it is past time to try something else or to increase the dosage if possible. Effective treatment of acid reflux should eliminate the feeling of having that lump in your throat. Get back to your dr and see what other options you have for treatment. Some times people require both a proton pump inhibitor ( PPI - like Aciphex) and an H2 blocker (Zantec, Pepcid...
Avatar m tn I've had constant nausea for about 8 months now. It doesn't change for different foods. I've had multiple blood tests, stool tests, an upper GI, endoscopy exam, and an ultrasound of my gallbladder and kidneys. At first they thought it was acid reflux as it showed up on the edoscopy exam. They put me on aciphex, and i saw a brief change but nothing to really fret over. about 6 months later it just randomly stopped, so i stopped taking my medicine.
Avatar n tn Make sure to check with your doctor that it is safe for you to discuntinue use of the Aciphex before you go off of it though. I might also consider getting tested for the H-Polory again because I think its not uncommim for it to show a false-negative, and it can also come back again. Just a thought if your still feeling bad. Also Benadryl works great for nausea, ya have to give it about an hour to kick in though.
Avatar m tn s -- that was mentioned to me -- although on further questioning the gastro said another approach would be to treat any reflux symptomatically, i.e. take PPI's or H2 pumps only when symptons present. I will probably post this over in the gastro forum as well but did see some overlap.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Most likely, stopping the Aciphex was no big deal. It probably didn't cause any negative things to happen to you, but this would be good to ask your doctor about.
Avatar m tn The best way to prevent it is to not eat foods that cause acid reflux. However there are OTC medicines that can treat/prevent reflux.
Avatar n tn I tried it but didnt seem to help with me. Again I am like u i think it is like prevacid with sodium. I just make u burp alot and I was on the powder ahich tasted horrible.
Avatar n tn Well, you should NEVER stop medication on your own without notifying your doctor. Do you have a mood disorder or bipolar? That is really important to treat. Talk to your doctor. Seroquel works well instead of Abilify as you know (why did you change?) but there are others in the same class of drugs as well that are good medications. There are several to choose from. Seroquel is one and if it worked before, no reason to change. But that is between you and your doctor.
Avatar m tn SEROQUEL is approved to treat the depressive episodes and the acute manic episodes in bipolar disorder and to treat schizophrenia. SEROQUEL XR is a once daily tablet approved only to treat schizophrenia Antidepressants have increased the risk of suicidal thoughts and actions in some children, teenagers, and young adults.
