Avatar f tn As far as I'm aware, Coumadin is just one of the brand names of warfarin. It's like if I want some Clopidogrel (another form of anti platelet med) I could ask for either Clopidogrel or Plavix, Plavix is the brand name the drug company trades the medication under.
Avatar f tn Given that yesterday he said to not take the warfarin he was changing me from the genertic warfarin and putting me on the brand name of the med coumadin. Said some folks do not tolerate warfarin well but do well on coumadin and i am to start the coumadin today. I would be lying if i didn't say i am a bit gunshy at this point. This med has made me absolutely miserable and today is my 43rd bday...

Avatar f tn s name Tyrus \t(y)-rus\ is pronounced TY-rus. It is of American origin. Blend of Tyrone and Cyrus, or a reference to the ancient Phoenician city of Tyre.
Avatar m tn I have the same history you do, of valve surgery and post-surgical HIT. You can take warfarin with a history of HIT. If you happen to have a mechanical valve, I'm sure you already are taking warfarin. If you're on warfarin, and you're wondering what to use for bridging, that would be Arixtra (fondaparinux). Fondaparinux is dispensed in syringes for subcutaneous injection, to be self-administered once a day. I've used it, and it's easy.
996946 tn?1503249112 0), age ≥ 65, highly variable INRs, history of gastrointestinal bleeding, hypertension, cerebrovascular disease, serious heart disease, anemia, malignancy, trauma, renal insufficiency, concomitant drugs (see PRECAUTIONS), and long duration of warfarin therapy. Regular monitoring of INR should be performed on all treated patients. Those at high risk of bleeding may benefit from more frequent INR monitoring, careful dose adjustment to desired INR, and a shorter duration of therapy.

553878 tn?1226507294 There is evidence hep C has been around since Egyptian times...The 1 genotype is the oldest, originating in Northern Africa...It is theorized that's why the virus is able to live as long as it does without killing its host...It has become a parasitic disease that can coexist in the body for years after it's initial invasion...Remember doing things like "blood brothers" when we were kids?
Avatar n tn This is exactly what I read in The Coumadin (Warfarin) Help Book. Since my husband has been taking his Warfarin before his evening meal & his INR has been keeping fairly level. And that's good news, we want no more Strokes.

2104110 tn?1358318243 If I had a boy we was going to name him Benjamin Alexander ( meaning son of my right hand and defender of the people). My fiance said with a name like that he will be destined for greatness and be a strong man. But we are having a girl and naming her Charlotte Susanne (meaning Free and lily).
Avatar m tn t already consulted a dermatologist and allergist, I would see both types of specialists. In the future, there should be another drug on the market that can take the place of warfarin for mechanical heart valve patients, but not yet. For your sake, I hope a warfarin substitute comes along soon.
Avatar f tn I like Jane for a middle name but can't think of a first name to go with it?!
Avatar f tn When I found I was prego my hubby and I sat down and picked a named for a boy and girl. And when we found out what we were having we already knew her name. My hubby is Italian I'm french so the first name is Italian origin and the middle is french origin.
Avatar f tn You can search names by origin for your greek names, by which letter you would like the name to start with, and will tell you what each name means. It also shows how common or uncommon a name is.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem: did have a girl's name, but no boy's name. I started searching names on meaning, looked at names listed of certain origin, and wrote down any name i liked. Thenmy husband and i compared notes, he didn't like my names and i didn't like his. But finally got one we bith like:Leander. Turns out we're having a boy so i was happy we got one. I always find it hard to find names for others, you don't know the criteria.
Avatar m tn I also suffer from AFib and use Warfarin to hold INR 2.0 - 3.0. I, and I believe most, do not have a bleeding problem in that range. I have no understanding of what you did you to nose, bu *** is clear you can't doo that. If you have nasal congestion blowing doesn't make it better anyway. Our nasal tissues strength are not all the same, some have problems with bleeding even with an INR - 1.
Avatar f tn The study is indicated to investigate the cause, location of origin, and best treatment for various abnormal heart rhythms. This type of study is performed by a specialist (an electrophysiologist) and is performed using a single or multiple catheters situated within the heart through a vein or artery. It may have a 70% success rate for a diagnosis. For some insight and it is not as serious as you may have misunderstood if it SVT: Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT).

612551 tn?1450022175 I had a surgical procedure last Thursday that required I stop all anticoagulant (warfarin) and aspirin (low dose) 5 days before the procedure. I recall my cardiologist being uncomfortable with the length of time I would be without clot prevention medications. I have permanent atrial fibrillation, so my heart is in the clot production mode 24/7. I have been back on warfarin and aspirin for two days and believe my INR is back in the 2-3 range.
1569985 tn?1328247482 The generic is about the cost of aspirin (well a bit more but in that price range) and I take Warfarin. I started on Toprol XR then Metorprolol SR, now Metoprolol which I take twice a day (12 hours). Warfarin is just once a day. All generics work for me, or work as well. They do not stop my AFib, but I haven't yet had a clot or stroke, that's good results. You cardiologist should let you give the generic a try.
Avatar f tn I had a severe DVT and took warfarin for six months. I was taken off it per my former MD and then had a near-fatal PE from another clot! I was taking aspirin when I had the PE. If you read the literature, even therapeutic levels of warfarin won't guarantee preventing subsequent clots. If I were you, I'd get the second opinion but STAY ON WARFARIN FOR LIFE and make the necessary adjustments. I also have no known genetic predispositions to DVT.
Avatar n tn Hey ladies I'm having a really hard time trying to find a name for my baby girl in 20 weeks pregnant but everyone asks me if I have thought about any names, it's a bit hard.... Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn t remember the name of the model -- that is made of a combination of bovine and porcine tissue, and it also lasted a very long time in their studies, longer than the earlier porcine-only valves. With respect to mech valves, there now is one called On-X that is being studied to see if patients might be able to use aspirin as their only anticoagulant. The clinical trials are not complete on that, but it looks promising.
