As far as I'm aware, Coumadin is just one of the brand names of warfarin. It's like if I want some Clopidogrel (another form of anti platelet med) I could ask for either Clopidogrel or Plavix, Plavix is the brand name the drug company trades the medication under.
Given that yesterday he said to not take the warfarin he was changing me from the genertic warfarin and putting me on the brand name of the med coumadin. Said some folks do not tolerate warfarin well but do well on coumadin and i am to start the coumadin today. I would be lying if i didn't say i am a bit gunshy at this point. This med has made me absolutely miserable and today is my 43rd bday...

The most common anticoagulation drug prescribed after heart valve surgery is warfarin (Coumadin). The newer blood thinners are apixaban and dabigatran, also known as Pradaxa and are expensive. The main concern is that specific antidotes for bleeding are available for warfarin but not yet developed for the new drugs.

i an 59 years old and open heart surgery to replace mi mitral valve about two 2 years ago . Now y have a mechanic valve st jude # 31 and i have to take warfarin everyday for the rest of my life . My problem is that after my operation , y have rashes ,smalls cuts and dry skin in my hands , my doctor try 5 different creams , for fungus dry skin ,etc, and nothing change , the told that is not psorirys also, They said it is because i take coumadim .
When I found I was prego my hubby and I sat down and picked a named for a boy and girl. And when we found out what we were having we already knew her name. My hubby is Italian I'm french so the first name is Italian origin and the middle is french origin.
I had the same problem: did have a girl's name, but no boy's name. I started searching names on meaning, looked at names listed of certain origin, and wrote down any name i liked. Thenmy husband and i compared notes, he didn't like my names and i didn't like his. But finally got one we bith like:Leander. Turns out we're having a boy so i was happy we got one.
I always find it hard to find names for others, you don't know the criteria.
I also suffer from AFib and use Warfarin to hold INR 2.0 - 3.0. I, and I believe most, do not have a bleeding problem in that range.
I have no understanding of what you did you to nose, bu *** is clear you can't doo that. If you have nasal congestion blowing doesn't make it better anyway.
Our nasal tissues strength are not all the same, some have problems with bleeding even with an INR - 1.

My husband had fontan operation in 1991when he was 13 years old, and he was on warfarin during these years he is 31 years old now and one month ago he had very high palpitation (240) , in hospital they said he had VT but his dr said after one month and result of holter monitoring he had SVT, and he is on satolol now 2 times a day.

I have been given two options a metal valve which i would have to take medication called Warfarin for the rest of my life. Or i could have a pigs valve fitted which i would have to have replaced every 15-17 years. Please could someone help me with the decision of which one to have, i dont like the idear of the medication but is this a wise move thanks!!
