vytorin

Avatar m tn Now i have stopped taking vytorin beccause my cholestrol has lowered to 135. What i meant was, i have take 2x out of 3x anti hepatitis jab. However when i tested, the result was negative which is non-reactive. Why is that so? Do i need to have taken 3x before it is reactive?
Avatar f tn 0111 mm for Vytorin, but only by 0.0058 mm for simvastatin alone -- a ratio of nearly 2 to 1.) There did not appear to be any difference in side effects, or in the incidence of cardiovascular events among the two groups." Go figure..................
Avatar m tn I switched from Zocor to Vytorin around Oct 2004. Zocor no longer worked for me. Around the first of March, I began experiencing a lot of lower abdominal pain and flu-like symptoms for several days. The last day of what turned out to be the first episode, my left leg became useless. A month later, I had similar symptoms. This time, at 8:45 a.m., I checked my blood sugar and blood pressure. Both were around 180. A few days later, both returned to normal.
Avatar f tn i was taking vytorin and plavix when i was told i have cll .
Avatar m tn I think lovastatin is still used a lot. The drug companies always promote their newer, patented, more expensive drugs by saying they are more effective than the older drugs that are off patent and cheaper, so I tend to take that into account. The manufacturer of a newer drug may quote research to support the promotional argument, but who pays for the research to be done? Generally, it is the manufacturer of the drug that is being promoted.
Avatar f tn This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US. Salmon, fish oil, and dark chocolate have been shown to raise HDL levels. Your level should be in the 50's if you can get it there. Vytorin is a statin that lowers LDL and raises HDL.
Avatar f tn I did talk to doctor last week and he told me to stop Vytorin right away and changed my cholesterol medicine to something else. What you suggest is quite scary as I had a friend who passed away due to Lou Gerig's disesase few years ago. Could taking Vytorin alone cause me to actually develop the disease or just to show the symptoms?
Avatar f tn I have been on Vytorin for a few years and my insurance company will not pay for it anymore. My doctor has switched me to Simvastatin (40mg) daily. My question is has anyone else made the switch and have they noticed any side-effects?
645800 tn?1466860955 I just was on-line to check out my new RX for cholesterol. "COLESTIPOL HCL 1GM TAB". No that isn't a typo. it is 1 gram in size. I currently take some medications that are 500mg per pill and can barely swallow them so I can't imagine what these will be like. And I'm suppose to take two of them before dinner. Of course they also say to not chew, cut or crush them.
Avatar m tn You can search to see if Vytorin studies have shown that it helps reduce cholesterol deposits on heart muscle. Vytorin is a combination, I believe, of Zocor and Zetia. Zocor should help with the cholesterol already there. If not, Lipitor has studies showing that Lipitor at 40mg can help reduce cholesterol on heart valves and in arteries. If it reduces cholesterol there, it may reduce cholesterol on the heart muscle. Cholesterol builds in the arteries, valves and muscle of the heart.
Avatar n tn Over the past 12 years or so I have taken Lipitor, Pravachol and, when 200mg total Cholesterol wasn't good enough anymore, Vytorin, which brought it down to 160. But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home.
Avatar f tn If you HDL (high density lipoprotein) is low then you may have to take slow Niacin as well. If not you may be able to take vitorin instead. Exercise is very important too. Long walks are good. But I wouldn't do it yet until you find out why you are dizzy and lethargic. Have your fasting blood sugar and thyroid checked as well as sometimes this can cause dizzyness. But also, clogged arteries and your thyroid, too could do this. You need to have a more thorough exam.
Avatar m tn I meant to say I am on Vytorin and Benicar. I was taken off Lipitor because of the elevated CPK level. But a recent blood test revealed CPK still elevated.
Avatar m tn My current total cholesterol is actually 283 but was 338 before I lost the twenty-five pounds. My triglycerides went from 207 to 118. I have not tried Vytorin so I will talk to my doctor about that.I am taking CQ10 and multivitamins. I also take synthroid for underactive thyroid. Other than the thyroid and the cholesterol I am well. Thanks for everyones' suggestions!
Avatar m tn I have some Lipitor in the cabinet and my doc is going to put me on Vytorin in 11 days. I was trying to avoid a new Rx of Simva since I have a cupboard full of comparable meds and will be starting Vytorin soon. I can't get a hold of my doc for a week. Just wondering if anyone knew of any bad reactions, a required layoff before switching, etc. Thank you very much.
Avatar n tn My father needs to lower his cholesterol, but Statins cause him significant muscle problems (Myositis) and elevated Creatine Kinase CPK and Aldalase. His symptoms resolve and tests return to normal when the Statins are discontinued. What Cholesterol drugs can he try that do not have Myositis as a side effect?
212161 tn?1599427282 I take it every night, it dropped my tri's over 50 points, great stuff with no side effects at all. I've been very happy with this med. I actually take it along with Vytorin, very happy with the results. Good luck!

Avatar n tn I am currently taking Lisinopril, 20mg. I take Lisinopril in a.m. without other drugs, vitamins. Within 2 hours and continues throughout the day, I am having overall weakness, cough, dizziness, legs feel like they are shaking inside, although not externally visible. B/P is sometimes 170 / 90 and other times 125 / 70 and anywhere in-between. Is there some other drug to control hypertension which does not have these side effects?
Avatar n tn I have three drug eluting stents in the LAD, two non-drug eluting stents and three drug eluting stents in my RCA. I stayed on Plavix for 1.5 years after the last stent, and been off Plavix for over a year with no restinosis. I do exercise daily, take Vytorin, 81mg aspirin, and follow a healthy heart diet very carefully. So far, no problems with restenosis, but believe me, I think about it every day.
Avatar f tn ve been on Vytorin 10/20 for years). Abnormal heart rhythm sent me to the emergency room. When cardiac was ruled out, the doc said my TSH was 20. What happened? I did not skip any doses except on Sundays. Did the Omega 3 mess up my TSH levels. Now it seems my meds are not even working.
408585 tn?1202158499 My TSH has gone down to 14 last test. When I started this "journey" back in May, my TSH was 98. I've been from hypo to hyper to hypo again and still trying to level my TSH. Hang in there. Just stay with the program. It will get better.
Avatar f tn I am wondering on how worthwhile it would be to take magnesium (and any other) supplements to help combat my mild cardiomyopathy. If yes, how much and what kind? I have a 1 to 2 centimeter area of hypokinesis in left ventricle and very mild hypokinesis in right ventricle. LVEF - 45-50%. I have NSVT, inducable Sustained VT and V-Fib, as well as A-Fib. I do have an ICD. I take Coreg and Lisinopril. I am 34 years old. Thanks for your time and advice!
Avatar f tn From my understanding, a calcium score of only 4 is fairly low and indicates that your risk of a heart attack is relatively low (although any non-zero score is something to take note of and to watch in the future). The 50% and 75%, I believe, represents that 50% and 75% of women your age and race have lower values of calcium score and volume, respectively.... so you're roughly normal for your age.
