Common Questions and Answers about Vytorin what is it

vytorin

Avatar m tn At first I thought it was my diet never associated it with the Vytorin so I continually change what I was eating. Even after having chicken and rice I would have diarrhea!!! I went from 205 lbs to 170 lbs within a couple of months ( from the daily diarrhea). It was affecting my work and I wouldnt leave the house on my days off for fear of an uncontroled bowel movement. I finally went back to the doctor after about a year and he said he never heard of that side affect.
Avatar n tn I have IBS with diarrhea. My family doctor gave me Vytorin and it caused ONE HORRIBLE bout with the diarrea. So, my question is: Should people with IBS not take Vytorin? If the answer is: No,they shouldn't,then why do you think this side effect is not listed on the pamphlet that comes with the drug.....or any where else?!
Avatar m tn Different statins are effective for different people. It may turn out that lovastatin is just as effective for you as vytorin. If not, you can always switch back to vytorin. Or if you don't want to take a chance on the lovastatin, you can always go back to vytorin now. I don't know how long to tell you to try the lovastatin to find out if it works for you; you will have to ask your doc. I believe I would give the lovastatin a chance, if it were me. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Coreg can make a person feel extremely tired and loss of energy. Coreg is the best beta blocker as it blocks more receptors than Tropol XL. There is a medication that is being used in Europe that hopefully will be here in the US soon. It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states.
Avatar f tn The earlier mentioned side effect caused by the group of medications known as the statins, which Vytorin (ezetimibe/simvastatin) is a member of, is called rhabdomyolysis. This condition is breakdown of the muscle and has been associated with the statins as a class as a rare but serious side effect. Rhabdomyolysis caused by statins is reversible once the medication has been discontinued.
Avatar f tn i was taking vytorin and plavix when i was told i have cll .
1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
Avatar f tn Vytorin is a combination of Simvastatin and Zetia so you are taking the same thing without the Zetia so you should not see any changes in how your body reacts.
Avatar f tn My understanding of the Vytorin study results is that while it reduces your cholesterol level, you may be able to do it less expensively by just bumping up the amount of the generic drug in the pill - BUT - they aren't quite sure yet. The people selected for the study fell into the group that had high cholesterol due to genetics. Like jim62 said, I wouldn't worry too much about the Vytorin study results at this point.
Avatar m tn s it could be due to the statin and it is questionable whether you should be on one at all. Stop both of those medications and see your doctor immediately--bring your pill bottles. You need to get your medications straight before considering any testing.
Avatar m tn ve searched but cannot find much on how to prevent (or get rid of, if possible) this calcium build-up. Any info on where it is coming from and what can I do moving forward will be appreciated. Thanks!

Avatar n tn Here is an update as of Aug. 30. I went back to the Dr.'s for a plan-of-action for the high cholesterol numbers. We decided to try Simvastatin 20mg's and I also will be adding CoQ-10 with that (my suggestion). I will be having another reading done in December to see if it brings the numbers down. He also suggested I have a Coronary Calcium Score CT done. I had the Coronary Calcium test done the next day and received the findings today. The Total Agatston Score is 0.
Avatar n tn Over the past 12 years or so I have taken Lipitor, Pravachol and, when 200mg total Cholesterol wasn't good enough anymore, Vytorin, which brought it down to 160. But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home.
Avatar m tn s, but to continue to smoke cigarettes and worry about what statin will help is like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer, and wondering which type of hammer will hurt the least. Just something to think about. Keep us informed.
Avatar f tn My natural reaction would be that it is thrush as well. Generally any white patch that is wipeable is diagnosed as thrush. You may need to try another anti-fungal medication such as a nystatin troche or something else. Also, is there anything in your medical history that may make you prone to fungal infections?
Avatar n tn I am sooooo exhausted not sure if it is from Vytorin or Lisinopril but have been on a ton of them and they all make me tired or cause me muscle pain or some other side effect. My doctor said that you need to stay on them for a while and then your blood pressure should regulate and the horrible side effects should go away after a few weeks.......we will see! Good Luck!
Avatar m tn but these days i have a sevear muscular pain n joint pain in both arm ...is it possible that it related 2 the heart failure?
932338 tn?1247125679 We need cholesterol which is what our brains and nervous systems are mostly made of, and those drugs lower cholesterol way too much, and cause alot of neurological symptoms, as well as prevent the liver from making CoQ10, and alot of other nutrients and enzymes we need to stay healthy.STAY AWAY FROM STATINS...lipitor caused me some major problems.DO NOT TAKE IT!!!
212161 tn?1599427282 I take it every night, it dropped my tri's over 50 points, great stuff with no side effects at all. I've been very happy with this med. I actually take it along with Vytorin, very happy with the results. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your replies. It is appreciated and will check with my Dr. again.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Hep B, I'm on Baraclude now, and have been on Crestor (Rosuvastatin ) for the last 10 years. If it's better for me to change to Simvastatin (Zocor, Vytorin), I'm all for it, but want to know if there's evidence out there. I've only found mention of one study that wrapped last year, but no results from it. Any info will be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I suspect your question would be answered with lots of questions from a doctor, such as what is your stress level, are you exercising, is there a diabetes factor, etc. I'm not sure that there is a clear answer to your question.
