Common Questions and Answers about Vytorin in system

vytorin

Avatar m tn It says increases in liver enzymes occur in 1.7 percent of people taking Vytorin. This increase appears to be more prevalent in people who are taking higher doses. It goes on to explain other causes of high liver enzymes. The bottom line is the person best to determine this is one who is familiar with your medical history as well as your labs prior to starting the medication. Avatar m tn I knew this wasnt all in my head. I knew it had something to do with the Vytorin and that other post proves it!!!!!!!!
1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
Avatar n tn I have IBS with diarrhea. My family doctor gave me Vytorin and it caused ONE HORRIBLE bout with the diarrea. So, my question is: Should people with IBS not take Vytorin? If the answer is: No,they shouldn't,then why do you think this side effect is not listed on the pamphlet that comes with the drug.....or any where else?!
Avatar f tn Fatigue and lethargy are side effects of atenolol, however, I do not see any information suggesting that muscle weakness is a side effect of atenolol. I see that you also take Vytorin. It appears that symptoms of ALS,( Lou Gehrig's Disease) have been reported to the FDA in a higher than expected number of patients taking statins. ALS is a progressive motor neuron disorder with symptoms such as difficulty walking or standing, difficulty with fine motor skills and muscle paralysis.
Avatar m tn Reading the many comments I came across one that stated lovastatin is an old medicine and is not used often. After recent cath my doctor changed my medication from vytorin ,have taken vytorin for 5 years, to lovastatin. I did ask for a cheaper medicine and lovastatin was what he came with. I have no problems or side effects . My question is lovastatin less effective then other of the same and if not why is it not used often. My engineering background comes out if I d not have proper data.
Avatar f tn Coreg can make a person feel extremely tired and loss of energy. Coreg is the best beta blocker as it blocks more receptors than Tropol XL. There is a medication that is being used in Europe that hopefully will be here in the US soon. It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states.
529224 tn?1400648219 ve been on these medications since the start of 2007 with no side effects which blood tests have continually confirmed. Familial hypercholesterolemia affects 1 in 500 people in many countries, so it isn't that uncommon.
Avatar f tn i was taking vytorin and plavix when i was told i have cll .
Avatar f tn That vytorin study was very small, and included a very select type of cholesterol problems. I think it dealt with extremely high levels, like 3 or 4 hundred. My doc says to not pay any attention, until a much larger study is done.
Avatar m tn Someone suggested that I consider inner imaging screening (EBT Hart scan). I am on Lipitor and Vytorin, I was taken off of Benicar two months ago because of the back pain and an elevated CPK 200's. Recent blood test revealed my cholesterol at 118 but my CPK at 205 and still experiencing lower back back pain. My blood pressure is 110/70 to 120/80. No prior hart problems. Do you think I should consider this image screening?
Avatar m tn I just turned 41, in very good shape, 5'10", 165 lbs, eat well (no red meat or pork, little dairy, etc), and active. My chol is excellent all around (thanks to 10mg of vytorin). Total chol was 215 before, 135 after. My dad had a heart attack at 49, second at 73, he is now 82. I went for stress test and echo last week. Dr said stress was great but he saw a very small calcium deposit on lining of heart muscle, not near arteries.
932338 tn?1247125679 Almost forgot, DO NOT EVER TAKE STATIN DRUGS like lipitor, vytorin, zocor, etc. They ruin your body, specifically your nervous system and brain. We need cholesterol which is what our brains and nervous systems are mostly made of, and those drugs lower cholesterol way too much, and cause alot of neurological symptoms, as well as prevent the liver from making CoQ10, and alot of other nutrients and enzymes we need to stay healthy.STAY AWAY FROM STATINS...lipitor caused me some major problems.
Avatar f tn My GP thinks its familial cholesterol indeed. As my mother also has issues controling hers. He has prescribed Vytorin for me. I did do the full lipid panel and the HDL was 48 and LDL was above 150. I did check glucose level and it was ok. I have been making great efforts to sticking to my diet. Oatmeal for breakfast and no beaf, pork or shellfish. Fish at least twice per week and lots of protein from beans. I rarely eat eggs. As to exercise.
Avatar n tn Just make sure to get your blood tested annually to make sure there are no changes in your liver enzymes.
Avatar m tn I have some Lipitor in the cabinet and my doc is going to put me on Vytorin in 11 days. I was trying to avoid a new Rx of Simva since I have a cupboard full of comparable meds and will be starting Vytorin soon. I can't get a hold of my doc for a week. Just wondering if anyone knew of any bad reactions, a required layoff before switching, etc. Thank you very much.
Avatar n tn thus makes $$$ for the drug companys and doctors ! so you came in for one problem and end up in a few years with 2 or 3 problems. No Thanks !! well thats the poop ! take care and good luck !

Avatar f tn My family doc first prescribed Magic Mouthwash for thrush, to no avail. The white coating is worse in the morning and after I eat. I drink a lot of water. I talk all day as I am a teacher; it tends to feel like glue inside my mouth at times. I can scrape it out with my fingernail but it just comes back a few hours later. Now my tongue feels rough in the back and up against my palate. Please help!
Avatar n tn I am on Lipitor and Vytorin. Recent blood work revealed cholesterol at 118 but CPK at 205 also I have been experiencing lower back pain. Do you think I should consider this image screening?
212161 tn?1599427282 I take it every night, it dropped my tri's over 50 points, great stuff with no side effects at all. I've been very happy with this med. I actually take it along with Vytorin, very happy with the results. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Lisinopril, 20mg. I take Lisinopril in a.m. without other drugs, vitamins. Within 2 hours and continues throughout the day, I am having overall weakness, cough, dizziness, legs feel like they are shaking inside, although not externally visible. B/P is sometimes 170 / 90 and other times 125 / 70 and anywhere in-between. Is there some other drug to control hypertension which does not have these side effects?
Avatar m tn Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Hep B, I'm on Baraclude now, and have been on Crestor (Rosuvastatin ) for the last 10 years. If it's better for me to change to Simvastatin (Zocor, Vytorin), I'm all for it, but want to know if there's evidence out there. I've only found mention of one study that wrapped last year, but no results from it. Any info will be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am a 46 year old male, 5' 11" and 168lbs. My legs are really bothering me lately. I can do something as simple as crouch down to pick up a toy, get back up and experience that "just worked out" feeling in my legs. Like they're "spent", sort of. Kicking a soccer ball around with my kids for more than a minute -- I really feel that in my legs though I'm not winded. Same thing going up stairs; my legs feel like lead but I'm not winded.
Avatar m tn but these days i have a sevear muscular pain n joint pain in both arm ...is it possible that it related 2 the heart failure?
