Avatar f tn I understand, not all of us react the same way. As you know, I was on Vytorin for years and went back to Simvastatin about a year ago. I have tested twice since on Simvatstain alone and my numbers have actually dropped a little than during my Vytorin days. I'm only going by the Enhance trial that concudes; "The ENHANCE study enrolled 720 patients who were randomized to receive either Vytorin, or Zocor alone.
Avatar m tn My doctor told me to stop taking Vytorin for two weeks, then get back on. I went to a new family doctor about my "episodes" and told him of the diarrhea. as well as everything else that had happened. He advised me to stop taking it immediately and to tell my endocrinologist what was happening. After having a colonoscopy, I have now been diagnosed as having irritable bowel syndrome. However, I am certain I was experiencing the serious side affects from Vytorin.
Avatar m tn After recent cath my doctor changed my medication from vytorin ,have taken vytorin for 5 years, to lovastatin. I did ask for a cheaper medicine and lovastatin was what he came with. I have no problems or side effects . My question is lovastatin less effective then other of the same and if not why is it not used often. My engineering background comes out if I d not have proper data.

Avatar f tn I have been on Vytorin for a few years and my insurance company will not pay for it anymore. My doctor has switched me to Simvastatin (40mg) daily. My question is has anyone else made the switch and have they noticed any side-effects?
Avatar f tn But suddenly I started experiencing falling due to legs losing all their strength and I just fall and have to crawl for help. Legs do not hurt or anything, they just lose strength. So with arms. I can't even hold a drug bottle because my arms don't have any power. With Lisinopril only, I never experienced this ever before. My blood pressure (with Lisinopril/aTenolol) stays around 100-60 and once every week or so, it still goes upto around 165-120 and with Xanax, it will go down.

Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of your symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information. Your symptoms are unusual; there are many many causes of tremors, but a visible tremor that continues during sleeping is distinctly uncommon.
Avatar f tn I recently had a Coronary Calcium Report(image) performed at our local heart center. A nurse discussed the results with me for 5 minutes. My doctor said it was useless, and to lose weight. The doctor gave me an EKG and said it was normal. The nurse alluded to the fact that EKG's are not the "gold standard" of diagnosis. The Docotor asked for $300.00 worth of blood tests that provided no new information.
Avatar f tn t been able to sleep without an Ambien(sleeping pill) for the last 5 weeks. I was wondering how long it may be before I can sleep without a pill. I'm currently taking Toprol, Iron, 81 Asprin, Plavix, Primovel and Lipitor. My doctor wants to change my Lipitor to Vytorin. I have heard the Vyrotin doesn't work. Any thoughts? Also how long do the grafts last in your heart? Mine were taken out of my leg.

Avatar n tn Agressive Cardiac Artery Disease needs to be addressed from a number of levels in my opinion, including exercise, weight loss, statins, dietary changes and stress relief. Red Star is right, research shows that inflammation of arteries can cause the plaque to erupt, resulting in blood clots in the arteries. However, first you have to control the cholesterol that can attach to the arteries, and Lipitor, Vytorin, etc do a great job. I tried Niaspam but had poor results.
Avatar m tn You can search to see if Vytorin studies have shown that it helps reduce cholesterol deposits on heart muscle. Vytorin is a combination, I believe, of Zocor and Zetia. Zocor should help with the cholesterol already there. If not, Lipitor has studies showing that Lipitor at 40mg can help reduce cholesterol on heart valves and in arteries. If it reduces cholesterol there, it may reduce cholesterol on the heart muscle. Cholesterol builds in the arteries, valves and muscle of the heart.
Avatar f tn As my mother also has issues controling hers. He has prescribed Vytorin for me. I did do the full lipid panel and the HDL was 48 and LDL was above 150. Avatar f tn Thanks for your comment! I have scrutinized every weight loss quick fix out there as part of my research for The Flex Diet - and I don't believe eating honey is a great solution. Jaquta makes some great points about small changes in diet, activity, and lifestyle. Think about it in the longer term. Take care!
Avatar f tn What I can, most respectfully, share with you is that weight loss is attainable but there is not shot that is going to fix it for us. If there were, everyone would have taken it and obesity would not be so prevalent in our society. Portion control, counting calories/points/carbs, journaling your food intake and implementing moderate exercise works; I am a testament to that.
