Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting blood pancreatitis

vomiting

Avatar f tn Also has anyone ever had normal blood levels with pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn Did the vet perform a CPLI test to see if your dog had pancreatitis? The causes of vomiting and diarrhea can be many things, such ingestion of a foreign body, ingestion of something toxic, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, parasites, organic causes and more.
Avatar n tn I took her to our vet and they did blood work and x-ray. The blood work showed acute pancreatitis. She was given IV fluids, Reglan for the vomiting, a B12 shot and an antibiotic and was not allowed anything to eat or drink for 24 hours other than licking on ice cubes every few hours. By the next day she was all perky and playing. The next day I started her on the vet's low fat food that they carry. She did well until today when out of nowhere she developed diarrhea and vomiting.
Avatar n tn Elevated lipase may be a sign of pancreatitis. One possible cause for pancreatitis is a blockage of your bile ducts (from the small gallstone or inflammation or so). This often can't be seen on x-ray or CT, but more precise investigation, like ERCP is needed. It is done during upper endoscopy - they inject a contrast substance from the duodenum into the bile duct opening, and then make x-ray pictures to see its distribution within the biliary tree.
Avatar m tn My dog- a lab/greyhound? mix, is 3 years old and has been very sick for the last 3-4 weeks. He began vomiting w/ diarehea- then didn't eat. We took him to the vet and had blood tests done. The results were dehydration (obviously). He was given fluids. Three days later he was back to vomiting and not eating and we were back at the vet- this time she told us it could be pancreatitis or an obstruction. We treated for pancreatitis (fluids/steroids/antibiotic).
Avatar m tn Mostly with yellish or light brownish foam and mostly with a few tiny splashes of blood. Went to vet about it a few times. Undergo a few cources of antibiotics. Sometimes it gave a relief for a couple monthes, sometimes - did not. In March all of a sudden it became much more frequent. We rushed to vet again. She prescribed 5 different medications, including 2 antibiotics. It did not help. Vet suggested hospital because pancreatics enzymes went high - we brought him there.
Avatar m tn I agree 100% with Ginger, it sounds like an attack of pancreatitis to me. The normal treatment for pancreatitis is one week of hospitalization on NOTHING but IV fluids, not even water to drink, to give the pancreas TOTAL REST. After the week is up, they start slowly introducing very bland food. Any time a dog is fed human food there is the risk of them developing pancreatitis, and even one meal can be enough to cause it.
20820562 tn?1524877846 She was constipated and vomiting. The vet took blood work that showed she had pancreatitis and kidney disease. Her BUN was 76 and creatinine 5.6. Her pancreatic function numbers were (Am) 2148 and (LP) 2792. She was on IV fluids overnight and her numbers barely changed for her kidneys but her pancreas function numbers were (Am) 441 and (LP)550.
Avatar n tn With each of these attacks, I would start vomiting and would be vomiting bile. After a few hospitalizations for this, I then developed chronic pancreatitis. These attacks can differ from a full blown attack. I call them my "mini attacks". It starts with a pressure in the epigastric region that goes through to my back. I start to feel very ill and then the pain comes, again, going through to my back.
509877 tn?1315361694 They had to give her steroids to stop the vomiting, does this mean she will always have the pancreatitis? Or is this a one time thing? I know not to let her eat anything but her dog food diet but I am still worried... Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn If it is the bile ducts you can have stents put in. Bile duct problems can cause pancreatitis or vice versa. I am a long time sufferer from pancreatitis and sod. If you have problems with backed up bile ducts it could certainly have caused the sepsis you had. IT will push toxins in to the blood stream and make you sick. An ultrasound will be better in finding a blockage in your duct. But the best way is an ercp.

Avatar m tn When pancreatitis occurs she always has a strong pain with elevated Amylase and Lipase levels suggesting a pancreatic dysfunction. Yesterday she woke up vomiting with just a litter abdominal discomfort. Blood work shows no significant levels of amylase or lipase. I thought for a moment she probably has a gastric virus but then the Dr. said when the pancreas stop producing this enzymes she still going to experience pancreatitis, Is this possible? Then Dr. said..
Avatar f tn It is good that you have a confirmatory blood test pending, because pancreatitis can be a very challenging disease to diagnose. Usually pancreatitis can only be diagnosed with a combination of clinical signs such as vomiting, abdominal pain and fever along with a positive results for a specific blood test (probably the one your veterinarian had sent in), and confirmation with an abdominal ultrasound.
Avatar n tn This has left her stranded on the side of the road more than once, and she has endured nearly every thinkable test in medicine. Other than the obvious signs of illness, i.e. vomiting, her white blood cells triple. She has a left shift in her white blood cells which suggest a bacterial infection, but that could possibly be the body’s way of self preservation when she starts getting sick. At first the problem was thought to be her gallbladder, but she has since had that removed.
Avatar f tn Half way through the Clavamox treatment, my Yorkie started vomiting bile daily and then also right after meals a couple days later. She never had a problem with this medication before. So I returned to the vet who ran blood work on her. Here are results worth noting: Elevated: SPEC cPL = 1262 ALP - 279 ALT = 152 AST = 88 CREATINE KINASE = 1934 BUN = 39 POTASSIUM = 5.7 MCV = 77 MCH = 26.
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar f tn Dogs, like humans, need a certain amount of fat for good nutrition, but sudden spikes in fat can bring on an acute case of pancreatitis - particularly in a dog who has already had it. Chronic pancreatitis is darned difficult to manage in humans as well as dogs. Please post back and let us know what your vet has to say about the urine sample and your dog's general condition.
Avatar f tn 5 (her levels lowered after 48 hours of IV). She is anemic and has pancreatitis and a UTI as well. She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting. I have been giving her daily Sub-Q fluids, Epikitin, Famotidine (10mg), and she is on an antibiotic for her UTI--for two days an appetite stimulant. Her blood was tested again 23 days later and her BUN 87, Creatinine 6.2, and Phosphorus 9.8 Her diet started out as Hills diet G/D (not K/D because of her pancreatitis).
Avatar n tn Can a person develop chronic pancreatitis after having acute pancreatitis that resulted from having an ERCP? I have developed abdominal pain that radiates to my side and back that is relieved when I lean forward and worsens when I lean back. No nausea or vomiting, no fever. Should I follow up with my doctor? I had the acute pancreatitis around 2004. Thanks for your response.
Avatar n tn What causes vomiting light green bile, stomach and back pain, having no fever? ER doctors don't seem to know. CT scans and x-rays are unremarkable.
Avatar m tn 2-28-2012 Took radiograghs 2 nothing Barium test nothing but did say going down slower then normal fluids subcutaneeous/assistant,Next visit vomiting again3-1-2012 examination ROC-n/c,blood profile inhouse, fluids intravenous put on i/d canine food.
Avatar m tn The pain is also accompanied with a constant headache that will not go away even with Tylenol. I have severed nausea with no vomiting. I am also for the most part constipated and have lots of gas. I feel weak and I also feel like I am fainting at times. I recently had both a colonoscopy and endoscopy and both were normal. I also had a CT scan without contrast that also was negative. What do you think I might have? What tests should I ask my MD to conduct in order to rule out anything?
