Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting blood in infants

vomiting

Avatar n tn Her gastro doctor had her tested for this due to frequent vomiting (she still grew at an impressive rate and was in good spirits most days). Is vomiting a common sympton of c diff in infants? She is on antibiotics right now and I am very hopeful that this will cure her of her frequent vomiting. Also, she has never had diarhea, as a matter of fact, she has been constipated since she was 3 months old and has been given a dose of Myrilax daily. Can c diff also be the cause of constipation?
Avatar n tn Hi.. actually my wife is 9 weeks n 3 days pregnant n today she had blood in vomiting.. is this common or anything serious.... Please suggest..
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor but I have not heard of afib described that way and atrial contractions are not a danger where afib could be due to possible blood clots. Does your daughter have an unusually high heart rate keeping in mind children's heart rates tend to be more elevated than adults. An average heart rate for a baby in their first year can be anywhere between 100-160 from what I have read. Anyways, I agree with the previous poster.
Avatar f tn How much blood? If you are vomiting red blood you could have a bleeding ulcer and that is an emergency. I have had a tiny amount before and it was due to irritation in my throat. You should at least make an appointment with your physician. If you vomit red blood, become dizzy or faint or have black sticky stools you should go to the emergency room.
Avatar f tn Signs of toxicity and symptoms of withdrawal have been reported in infants following high doses or chronic maternal use close to term. Diphenhydramine has been evaluated for the treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum. It is generally not considered the antihistamine of choice for treating allergic rhinitis or nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Breast-Feeding Considerations Infants may be more sensitive to the effects of antihistamines.
Avatar f tn FTM, severe nausea, sick all day. Projectile vomiting with small amount of blood. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn my daughter is 3 months old ,she has been passing mucus in stools for about 4 weeks now and some times there are spots of blood in the mucus ,I took her to the doc but not found the cause yet
Avatar f tn If you're vomiting up blood on any occasion, run not walk to your doctor or nearest health clinic. This may be an emergency! (or at least a sign of cancer) Vomiting blood on any occasion is a serious concern (especially with the variables you express). There should be free services available for your area to check out. Here's some things to look up: http://www.mayoclinic.
1105389 tn?1258003525 i had this when carrying my first child and worst of it started at 4 weeks pregnant, it peaked at 12-17 weeks pregnant where i was sick 30 -50 times a day, this led to me vomiting some blood in small amounts, due to bursting blood vessels when retching, and the stomach lining being irritated due to volumes and frequency of vomiting, if your girlfriend has similar symptoms it may be worth seeing your gp/ or maternity consultant as this condition can lead to dehydration, if it not these symptoms
Avatar n tn I'm 7 weeks pregnant & this is my first time getting pregnant. My morning sickness (which lasts all day) started about a week ago or so. I can't seem to keep any food or drink in me. I end up throwing it up within 5-10 minutes of consuming it. All morning I've been just throwing up water and the stomach acid because I've already puked everything that's in my stomach out.

Avatar n tn I agree with ZQ. You need to provide more info. In any case, your cat should be seen by a vet. Blood in the stool is never a good sign.
Avatar f tn So I'll be 38 wks tomorrow. I luckily somehow made it up to this point in my pregnancy without morning sickness or anything. Today I woke up with a terrible stomach ache. I started to vomit around 3 pm and it was full of blood. I can taste blood in my mouth. The stomach ache hasn't subsided but hasn't gotten worse either. Is this ob related or more medical? Should I go to the hospital? Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn ve heard of girls having this happen and being fine, but it is always better to make sure with this. Coughing up blood can be a sign of a blood clot in the lung or something serious like that. Tell them everything. Stay calm and good luck!
Avatar f tn In people with coeliac disease this immune reaction is triggered by gluten, a collective name for a type of protein found in the cereals wheat, rye and barley. It can occur at any age. There is some difference in symptoms in infants and adults. In babies, gut symptoms may develop after weaning onto gluten cereals. Other symptoms include muscle wasting in the arms and legs, a bloated tummy and irritability.
Avatar f tn My son, who is 7 months old, was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. The diagnosis was confirmed on Mar 10, 2014 and he was also diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Anyone have this happen with an infant? I'm trying to figure out what the next steps are in the event of an increase in fluid and pressure. He also is having to see a pediatric eye doctor to check the eye pressure in his eyes.
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
