vivelle dot side effects

The latest and greatest is endo took me off birth control pills because of side effects. Which makes me very happy. He added Vivelle patch 0.1 and Prometrium 200 mg for ten days out of the month. Also upping my Humatrope. And taking another look at my thyroid. Anyone have experience with the Vivelle for estrogen replacement? The thing that has me super discouraged is my weight and my dr recommendation that I consider lap band. I currently am about 90lbs overweight.

I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years. A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches. I'm still having the flashes. My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely! Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes? I want to keep on bioidentical-type remedies and wondered if something else included/instead of would do the trick. I'd greatly appreciate help!

I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.

Have anyone during there 2ww had there urine look orange in the morning this happen like two mornings i looked at med side effects and i didnt see that it's dark and i drink plenty of water.

To help me avoid radical menopause sypmtoms, my doctor immediately started me on a .5 mg. Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel.

Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?

I had a TAH two weeks ago and started on vivelle dot. My gyn says I dont need progesterone cream, but I am reading otherwise....Does anyone know if I can get it over the counter or does it require a RX?? Just wondering, because if I need it, I want it!

Did any one have the protocal asprin 81 mg daily,crinone 8% twice a day, vivelle dot 2 patches every other day and prenatal vitamin. if so did it work for you.

Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.

Oh great one of the side effects of vivelle dot patch is back ache,,that explains my lower back pain,,,it did happen after going on vivelle,but i am thinking clearer maybe it willl go away

Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.

Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).

only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..

Girls - I know I should maybe post this elsewhere but since you guys are my friends and know so much I was just wondering if anyone here that is on the vivelle-dot patch have any side effects from it..for 2 days I have this drawing pain in my upper thigh...it is more of a nuisance than a real terrible pain...I always worry about blood clots..I took my patch off just in case for a few hours but had to put it on due to the hot flashes ...I am hoping this is nothing but I am worried..

thanks for your imput, I was on estrace but caused a rash so he had me get on Vivelle dot patched, what is timed bd ? and which meds did you not use ?

Thanks mhv and heather5 yes, the build up is gross and I took it upon myself to remove the buildup...yuck......and along with the side effects from the crinone and vivelle, I also have OHSS from the IVF cycle....so I'm miserable to say the least.....this is my second round of IVF, second preg, and first experience with OHSS and constipation, nausea and exhaustion....feeling a bit overwhelmed with keeping up with the daily tasks, needing naps when my 2.5 year old naps....

Or, you may want to think about something completely different like the Vivelle Dot patch. This is something your Dr will have to prescribe just like your Estrace pills.

Hi! I agree with Mary regarding the possiblity of adding a little progesterone to your regimen. I'm also on the vivelle dot patch (.075 strength) and have just recently 50 mg of progesterone (which I take orally, but many prefer to use as a cream or gel transdermally). I'd ask your doctor about adding some progesterone to your regimen. Just my thought :-) Good luck!

Hi Carol - I saw one of your posts regarding the V-Dot..I am on the V-Dot since my surgery in May. I had gallbladder removed by laproscopic and then an abdominal vertical incision to remove 2 large masses 12cm and 10cm. I ended up with a full hysterectomy at 40. Unfortunately I ended up having to go back in for emergency surgery a week after for a ruptured bowel and because I was cut 2x in the same week i needed a wound vac for almost 3 weeks to help heal the wound.

Diagnosed with hypo 1999 – had many side effects when trying to increase synthroid then levoxyl to get “in range.” Finally felt best being slightly hypo on 50 mcg brand levoxyl and 12.5 mcg. brand Cytomel taken each morning. Labs pretty stable until June 2010. My TSH went up to 7.75, had many uncomfortable symptoms. Made several adjustments to meds. Constant loud heartbeats waking me up at night, tightness and lump in my throat, and swelling of my neck under my chin.

must be hormonal related which can be frustrating but can be fixed..I am personally a fan of the vivelle dot..its a patch used 2 x per week its helped me alot..its also suposed to be good for preventing bone density loss...I find your situation intersting..let me know how it goes...best wishes and happy new year !!!

Hi Karen, At the begining I was fine after my hysterectomy I thought I had it beat for the first 3 months I felt great and then I started going down hill. I was on Vivelle dot and then I was on Menostar, but I stopped it after 2 months because breast tenderness and leg cramps. My GYN told me to play around with the doses, but I haven't taken anything anymore because I feel better when I'm not on it. I constantly have stomach cramps and muscle pain in legs and dizziness.

I think up to 12 weeks. Keep in mind that they have to disclose possible side effects. All these fertility drugs have crazy side effects......why is it that this is the only one noticed.??

The vivelle, vivelle dot and Climara are all bioidentical hormones like Kate was talking about. They are supposed to be very similar to our own hormones, but they are still not our own :( Take it from me though, they are great.

I just had a complete vaginal hysterectomy 5 wks ago. Currently I'm using the vivelle dot which is the patch. I have been experiencing pain on the left side of my chest. I don't think it's associated with my heart. It also bothers my left arm and shoulder. Could it be from the patch? Another question. For the past week, I've only had green stools. They are sort of gritty looking in texture. Some are hard and some are just normal. No loose bowels though.

Hi, I had a complete hysterectomy and have been on an estrogen patch ( vivelle dot) for ten years. I have had migraines for 30 yrs. I’m really struggling because changing the patch every three days triggers a migraine like clock work. At 12 hrs the pain begins and builds so by 24 hrs it’s debilitating. Pain meds are not an option that frequently obviously. Would it help to overlap the tone I put one on and take the old one off. Clearly the rise and fall of estrogen is the trigger.
