Common Questions and Answers about Vesicare how it works

vesicare

1056851 tn?1318720978 I'm taking 5mg of Vesicare, too. My neuro's PA wants me to take 10mg, but it dried out my mouth too much when I tried it. It works pretty good - it's not perfect. I still get incontinence - but maybe not so often. It has also reduced my urgency and frequency, but again, it's not perfect.
721523 tn?1331581802 MY thinking is you might give it a try and see how it works for you. I am on Toviaz after trying a couple different bladder meds. Since I already have a serious problem with retention and do ISC, having the drugs add to that problem was not an issue. I just tap out a few times a day to keep it calm.
Avatar f tn can someone please tell that which medicine works best for OAB ........VESICARE,ENABLEX OR DETROL LA..........I m male and 29 yrs old ,can i also take detrol la.....Any response should be highly appreciated..........
1188179 tn?1350116119 I have been on Ditropan, then Ditropan XR (or EX, don't remember which is correct) and after about 10 years that didn't work, so my doctor put me on Enablex and that works pretty well. Then I got a new Dr. and he wanted to switch me to Vesicare. That didn't work well, either, and I began having episodes of incontinence and urgency again. It's almost open enrollment for Medicare Part D, and the plan that is the most affordable otherwise doesn't cover Enablex at all anymore.
Avatar f tn I found that Vesicare worked brilliantly for my urgency and spasms, it took about a week to get in my system but I dubbed it the wonder drug as it honestly changed my life, or was life changing, I could go out and not be governed by my bladder, ie: searching for nearest toilets etc.
Avatar n tn d recommend anyway. Talk to your urologist about going off the Vesicare and see how you do. If it WAS just the anxiety and excitement surrounding the trip, you'll know soon enough. As for the anxiety and depression, just make sure your doctors are aware that you intend to try getting pregnant. Some medications you need to be off for several months before attempting pregnancy. Hopefully you can deal with both these issues in your therapy and not need meds.
Avatar f tn I am on Vesicare for bladder issues and Gabapentin for nerve pain, both drugs seem to be working well but since I have been on the Vesicare I am so, so, constipated. I know that it affects your muscles and it seems to have stopped the horrible bladder spasms and urgency and burning sensations I was having but now I can't seem to go and use my bowels. I drink over 8 glasses of water per day, I exercise, I eat all bran (full of fibre) for breakfast, I have my daily intake of fruit incl.
Avatar f tn Oh how sorry I am that the bladder urgency is back as well as the spasms. I do not know a lot about Vesicare but just thinking out loud.......I wonder if it helps with the burning because it helps with the urgency and perhaps (some leakage) and urine is / can be quite acidic /irritating and that may be what is causing the burning in the private parts. While you are taking it the sx go away because you no longer have the urgency / spasms??? so no leakage = no burning??
Avatar m tn I was put on Vesicare 5 mg daily and also was taking fluoxetine for depression and anxiety over this condition. After taking the meds for awhile my symptoms went away and I was symptom free for 3 years. Because of the expense of the vesicare and because I was doing so well. I decided to stop taking both medications. My bladder was fine and normal and then about a year later the symtoms came back. So I am now back on the vesicare and the fluoxetine.
Avatar m tn I'm using Vesicare and Lyrica and I just got my urinalysis result and they're normal. Can Vesicare and Lyrica affect urinalysis? Are they antibiotics?
Avatar m tn which meant I had to return to my urologist....He gave me elmiron and vesicare to treat the IC....the Elmiron never helped my pain and, the Vesicare took my blood pressure from 113/72 pulse 68 to 153/103 pulse 122...I contacted my urologist and, he stated...that's not true ... neither of these meds would cause your blood pressure to go up...well, I called him back four days later...
Avatar f tn I know we are all different and our reactions are different, I am just hoping it works without too many side affects. Urgency is not my greatest problem at the moment and it talks about that on the website for it but it's more my burning and spasms but the burning is the worse. B.T.W. I am on the 10mg. Cheers, Udkas.
Avatar f tn She suggested that it is a medication that works in the urethra and would not have the same side effects of vesicare and that I would know if it was working in one week. She did not appear however to be able to give an indication as to whether this medication would require to be used in the long term or whether it could lead to a resolution of the difficulties.
Avatar n tn Hello, Fatigue and dry mouth and dyspepsia are frequent side effects of Vesicare but it is unlikely to cause any sore throat. Your sore throat can be due to some viral infection. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and use over-the-counter throat lozenges. Salt water gargle is also a good way to relieve a sore throat. In addition, you can take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) after consulting your general physician.
Avatar n tn i had a cmg test done today and the nusre told me it was the worst case of bladder spasm that she has ever seen and brought in other medical staff to see this they have put me on vesicare tablets 10 mg and i am wondering if there is anything else can be done i am worried in case it means i need to be catherterised because of this how likely is this ?
Avatar m tn 4)mg but the urge to urinate was there all the time so my doctor added (Vesicare 5mg). It was good for few weeks but then the urge got stronger and I was again given Bactrim DS for 4 weeks and now even with Bactrim DC I am not feeling any better. Few days back the doctor increased the dose of Floamx to 0.8 mg and stopped the Vesicare. It did not help and the urge to urinate is there all the time and there is tightness in the bladder. I also took Celebrex for few days and it helped a little bit.
Avatar m tn said I had a stenosis and atrophy of the urethra. Gave me a script for Vesicare but told me to wait a few days to see how procedure goes. also mentioned estrogen Creme. I am miserable....what should I do?
Avatar m tn So here I am on day 3 of Vesicare. Anyone have experience with this? I feel like since on it my frequency is actually up a bit. I was told to give it atleast one week but two is better to see improvement so I want to stick it out but I keep thinking can Vesicare make your frequency worse before better? I am not sure what's going and since it's the weekend kind of hard to call and ask!
Avatar f tn I Just ordered off this site called withdrawal-ease.com and it's $89 for 2 bottles one for night time and one for day. Th Thomas recipe isn't helping me. I was going to order te amino acid protocol but I got everything into my cart on GNC.com and it was $150!! And it was missing 2 items they didn't carry it. So it will be here in 2-3 days. I will take it and let everyone know. I hope it works. It could save a lot of us from the pain! Check out the website:) www.withdrawal-ease.com!
Avatar f tn I will have to go back and see if I can find that one. It was really interesting. Seems to be all upside down in the way it works as to the way you would think it did. I alwasys thought when stocks were way up, it was a good thing. I will have to see if I can find it or the link to it so ya all can have a look see.
Avatar m tn Started me on Levaquin 500mg PO QD x 7 days and Vesicare 10mg PO QD.The cyst went down but the pain around the epdidymis persisted w/ no change. After 4 weeks of Vesicare I still have no change in my nocturia. I had an ultrasound of my bladder, testicles, kidneys all normal. I then had a cystoscopy done which showed no abnormalities besides a tight sphincter. My urologist told me to continue the Vesicare which I have been doing.

Avatar f tn s the same as what Lulu suggested. Expensive stuff tho, it was $29 but hopefully it will be worth it. I took my first sachet in water this morning, so I am awaiting results but I am sure you don't really want to know all the details of this. Thanks Guys, My GP had his own to say about what my neuro said, might ask thoughts on that in a separate post. Cheers, Udkas.
