1138687 tn?1548643978 Hi, I am wondering why there isn't a varicose veins forum!? Where else might I post my varicose veins concerns? I posted in the Deep Vein Thrombosis forum but noticed it is rarely used. I'm not certain but isn't DVT a result of varicose veins? And if varicose veins are more common, with DVT being a side affect, then Why not change that forum to Varicose Veins? Regardless shouldn't there be a forum for varicose veins?
Avatar f tn Well, I would look up Deep Vein Thrombosis, too, and see if any of the symptoms relate to what is happening to you. If it is a varicose vein it is no big deal, but if it is DVT you should go in and get checked, and don't wait until Monday if the symptoms match its description. Good luck; I hope it is just a v.v.
Avatar n tn There is a possibility that these symptoms are due to varicose veins or due to deep vein thrombosis. A color Doppler will help reach a diagnosis. Other possibilities are diabetes and hypothyroidism. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please discuss this with your doctor and get yourself investigated accordingly. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
9062499 tn?1426957962 They say they get worse w every pregnancy I'm on my third baby fourth pregnancy and they're starting . I have some on my thigh and I've been getting pains for 6 wks and I'm only going on 10. I didn't think about varicose veins being the reason for the pain until I just read this!!!!!
Avatar f tn If kidney, heart and liver problems have been taken care of, then the pain and swelling in the legs could be due to varicose veins with faulty valves of the deep vein causing venous pooling. A dopplar study or angiogram of the blood vessels of the leg should be done. Wearing a hose or stocking specially designed for varicose veins may help. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn I went to see a nurse practitioner and she said the feelings I was having was due to varicose veins. Are there any treatments for varicose veins?
Avatar m tn The cause could be prolonged standing, faulty valves, family history, blood pressure and cholesterol problems, sedentary life style, congenital malformation of veins, and obesity. If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. This is often due to faulty valves of the deep veins or due to deep vein thrombosis too.
Avatar f tn Just to rule it out, look up the symptoms of deep vein thrombosis and see if there is any similarity. You probably don't have DVT but it would be important to know if you do.
Avatar m tn The leg vein issue the way you describe is that of varicose veins. Because you are experiencing pain in the calf muscle, you should make an urgent appointment to see your doctor to rule out deep vein thrombosis. The doctor will listen to the leg and can arrange to get your blood tested with regard to that - this is called a Doppler test. He will also be able to confirm whether it is varicose veins that you have and what can be done about them.
Avatar f tn Hi there, What are the other associated symptoms you have been having? Varicose veins appear swollen, twisted, and may cause heaviness, aching and pain in the legs. In severe cases there may be brownish discoloration of the skin at the ankles and skin ulcers. Defective valves, pregnancy, obesity, thrombophlebitis all can put at risk of deep vein thrombosis. If you are doubtful it is best to seek medical help.
Avatar f tn a bit before it all started happening I noticed the veins behind my need were getting darker but not bulging. none of the areas feel warm and no redness. on the inside of both knees I have a large cluster of spider veins. I'm petrified at the thought of a blood clot since I'm on birth control. could this be a varicose/spider vein issue? I'm 34 and overweight but in good health.
Avatar m tn Another symptom of varicose veins is a feeling of heaviness and/or weakness in the affected leg. Raising the legs above the level of the heart allows the blood to drain from them, providing temporary release. Employing good postural habits such as not crossing your legs can also prevent pressure and pain on these veins. With Deep Vein Thrombosis, the symptoms are different. The affected leg will most likely swell, and feel cold to the touch. There may also be numbness in the area.
Avatar n tn Well mondor deases is emergency if you see leftside of penis veins are enlarging like bulging veins and around penis and also you can see small veins swelling around penis. And slight or more pain dur8ng walking or pain while slight Move of penis.Feeling like veins will pressure and pain slight in penis .Well this we can say vericoce veins stopped blood flow in penis , well doctors named it new and started business over it.But whwn you see lots of veins and causing pain then this is emergency.
Avatar f tn Hello, sorry about he delay in answering your question. Inner thigh pain and groin pain are common with varicose veins. Also, calf pain is included in that. Please see your doctor if you have not already. Let us know if you have seen them and what they have said. Here is an older question about this answered by a MedHelp doctor https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Blood-Disorders/Varicose-veins---inner-thigh-pain-/show/2027668 Here is some basic information on the condition as a whole.
Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
Avatar f tn The risks for this condition include chemical irritation of the area, infection, disorders that involve increased blood clotting, varicose veins and even use of birth control pills. The goals of treatment are to reduce pain and inflammation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My mother has similar problems with her legs, and both of us bruise like tomatoes. While both my mom and I do also suffer from varicose and spider veins, this is NOT what my question is about. I am trying to determine the cause of (and hopefully treat) the all-over reddish honeycomb pattern. Has anyone heard or seen or experienced this?
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.
Avatar m tn My wife has a protruding vein on 1 leg which her doctor has informed her that it is not a medical problem. She has recently noticed more veins that protrude periodically. This is causing her distress so I'm looking for some things that we can do to help prevent more protruding veins and perhaps reduce the one that's protruding already.
Avatar n tn Horse chestnut is the best-known natural treatment for varicose veins. It helps prevent swelling and strengthens capillary and vein walls. The usual dose is 300 mg a day. Side effects are pretty rare, but if you start feeling itchy or nauseous, taper back your dose. Nature’s Way has a widely available, quality product I generally recommend. Grape seed extract also supports the walls of blood vessels. Take 150 to 300 mg in divided doses over the course of a day.
Avatar f tn Hi Varicose veins can also cause venous pooling as they are the result of either faulty valves or deep vein thrombus. While at work, keep your feet raised on a stool or something and move about once in a while to allow the leg muscles to contract. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
Avatar f tn Leg edema is caused due to diseases affecting the liver, kidney or heart. It could also be due to varicose veins or deep vein thrombosis. Being overweight can be one of the causes of swollen ankles without pain, it can also occur due to edema or water retention. Eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Standing for a long time can also cause these symptoms. Take rest and elevate your legs while resting. Try to follow a low salt diet as this may reduce the swelling.
Avatar f tn We found out that our ancestors also had trouble with there veins and we think it is genetic. We both have a restricting vein in our neck and legs. I started her antibiotics again hoping it will help and settle her inflammation which I believe is making her veins even worse. The only thing that seems to help is coffee twice sometimes three times a day. I hear that it restricts the veins while supplying blood flow. Is there any naturual herbs for her that would help veins.
1580703 tn?1651904887 You heard the right thing but today non surgical treatments are also available for vein disease. Take care.
Avatar n tn i always have pain only on the right side of my prostrate and the right leg and lower right side of my back and hip. the varicose veins are on the right side of my penis to and my right leg behind my nee. i am starting to wonder if my whole problem might be some kind of stricture some were in my pelvis on the right side. and im getting very worried about these varicose veins poping up on my leg does this make any sence to anyone reading this.
Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.
